  1. It was a bad initial attempt at a TSOP lol... Removed it, used 30 AWG wire instead of 24, and connected the alternate points on the rear of the board. Worked beautifully, this was 15 quid "broken" off eBay and i flashed it with m8 using true hexen 21.
  2. Any alternative places to solder? Accidentally lifted the wire under trace A while following the guide
  3. Not sure what you mean by the white trace wire. There's a greyish wire going the length of the tube but it appears to connect two tiny LEDs. The two thin black wires took power by being tucked under the first and fourth pins of the HDDs molex connector.
  4. I've managed to replace the power supply and it's working again! The only thing that's not working is the cool blue tube led light thing you can see in the middle. I remember the two wires were hooked into the molex connector of the hard drive, on the first and fourth pins. But i have no idea which wire went with which of the hdd molex wires (yellow and red) Anyone know how to identify which end goes where?
  5. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/X-Box-Microsoft-original-worked-fine-when-last-used-but-untested/184693245809 this one looks like it could be a 1.4
  6. Just plugged in the power cord and something in the power supply literally went "pop". Think it's a Delta 1.4 power supply. Is it worth buying a replacement or is the whole console likely toast? Saw a small flash through the right side vent where the PSU sit. Have another delta power supply lying around but think it's from a 1.6 so figure it's risky to put it in. Any ideas? Edit: Discovered a burnt screw sitting in the middle of it. Must've just been a loose screw floating around that dropped in and killed it.
  7. Can i ask why I need that eeprom.bin file?
  8. I was into Xbox first but recently got into Dreamcast with the GDEMU and the 3D printed tray - wonderful arcade-style games, quick and fun. So sick of trying to play a game and there being a 80gb downloading waiting for me. Literally 0 patience for this stuff any more. I'm not booking time ahead in my diary to play a game, it's when you feel like it or not at all right? Welcome anyway, if you like modding you'll like the xbox.
  9. Freshly backed up my eeprom with nkpatcher and this is what the Xbox info txt says:
  10. Sorry! I thought it was supposed to be bigger than that every drive i've looked at before had F and G, but I guess this is a stock softmodded drive so it won't have F and G. I have nulled the EEPROM using the Softmod Tools NKpatcher tool so hopefully I'll be able to clone it to a larger disc, whereupon I will be able to have F and G again (and the extra space). Is the best way to do this still by cloning with chimp and using a y-splitter or second xbox?
  11. Here's a picture
  12. Cause/Solution: Similar to Error Code 13. This can also result from changing names of files or messing with files on the HDD without knowing the repercussions. A common cause is from changing the boot orders or names of startup files on the HDD. It can also happen when you are rebuilding your HDD with a Slayer CD and the power was cut, or if your DVD drive is going bad when attempting to load a disc that uses PBL, such as Hexen. Get another softmodded xbox Burn Rocky's Softmod Tools disc, launch it Power up the borked xbox till you see the error code (which indicates the hard drive has been unlocked) Unplug the IDE from the modded xbox's HDD and plug it into the drive of the broken xbox. Re-run the full softmod process
  13. To SS Dave and all: I finally got round to having a go fixing it after messing up the dashboard when updating xbmc4gamers 1. Replaced the damaged HDD pins by swapping the PCB from another old xbox I had lyring around 2. Installed the HDD: Error 16 (I think it was, not sure, whichever error code it is that says it can't set the time because there's no dashboard?) 3. Got another xbox, launched Rock's Softmod Tools off a disc, attached the new xbox to the IDE of the still-powered hard drive from the borked xbox. 4. Re-ran the full softmod process from start to finish. The nice 1.6 with a HITACHI DVD drive is now back in nearly full working order. I say full: It works perfectly, only that I messed something up when playing around in CHIMP - F and G partitions aren't available for some reason. Not a big deal as it's only a stock 10gb drive or so. Would like to fix the partitions without breaking my xbox for the 2nd time: Anyone know the best way to do this? P.S Thanks for being such a good community, I would never have figured out any of this without so much help.
  14. I had the same issue across multiple xboxes and FTP'd "clean" ISOs found online. The disc error I would get is something about a "dirty disc". Finally found out what the problem was: The language set in the default Xbox BIOS didn't match the language of Amped / Amped 2. My Xbox BIOS (under the X3 BIOS, which was set to English) was set to German rather than English. So even though everything looked like it was English, the mismatched settings caused a "dirty disc" error in Amped 1 and Amped 2. Only game I've seen this happen in and very hard to troubleshoot!
  15. Interesting, I didn't know that. Thing is though, aren't they paired to the board? Can you just swap DVD drives out as you like? It would be nice to have a spare Hitachi drive I could use in other xboxes
  16. Thanks for the advice, it's a Hitachi drive!
  17. I was given a 1.6 for free, soft modded it no problem - tried to put a shortcut in C to tell it to boot into XBMC4Gamers which I had installed in E: and something went wrong. Wouldn't boot into XBMC or the dashboard any more. No problem I think, I'll connected to FATXplorer on my PC. No dice - the drive is locked. So I boot up the xbox and try to hotswap it to a IDE/USB adapter to try and fix the bad dashboard, manage to get xboxhdm23usb to detect it, but it still said it was locked. Assumed i hadn't been quick enough with the hotswap. Try again and end up damaging one of the HDD pins (thank you whoever made this shitty adapter for putting it in a plastic housing and making it impossible to insert drives quickly). So now the xbox won't boot, the drive is locked, as well as damaged. Easier to just harvest it for spares now? It's a shame as it's a really clean 1.6 (that was the other thing, the next step would've been to TSOP it and boot into Hexen, but I haven't got a chip lying around and wouldn't trust my soldering skills anyway). Any thoughts on fixing this? P.S I tried to use Halo 2 to update the dashboard and fix it but it was already on the latest dashboard so it didn't work.
  18. Yes, i tried 5035 first then noticed that the config maker specified 5032 and thus tried that one instead. No dice. Glad i had my ghetto pcb wrapped in electrical tape still lying around!
  19. E drive as per the readme text that came with the bios from the eye.eu site
  20. Holy crap dude, you nailed it: it's a 160gb IDE WD Blue. I tried it with two hard drives, the other one was a WD Black, didn't work on that either. Mind blown. Ultimately I had a DVD drive PCB wrapped in electric tape lying around that i plugged in, boots flawlessly. Damn dude though, how do people figure this out. Well done.
  21. How much are you looking to pay and why the xosvp specifically over a modded 360 component cable?
