Looks like a couple quality of life improvements right? Or am I missing anything. Maybe that NVCLK overclocking thing is new, I'm not sure what is new about this release other than a few UI updates.

I don't get this: if you OC, and you don't patch the games, does it still break them??? Or if I OC to 825MHz would it actually help slowdown e.g. when playing PGR2 in 720p with a patched XBE

Any idea what's special about 825MHz, Kaos? I've tried a few combinations but my xbox doesn't want to go even 1Mhz above this level

Just playing around with CoinOps and was looking to see if I could tell any performance improvements with the additional RAM. So far I'm really not sure. I did notice however, that Advanced Settings seems to allow you to increase the memory available for it to call upon. Anyone know if this would do anything or if coinops just uses whatever memory is available by default? Edit: Reading into it a bit further, it seems you have to patch the .xbes WITHIN CoinOps to be 128mb compatible so idk really.

[Released] Watch YouTube on Original Xbox!
hastings298 replied to antonic901's topic in General Xbox Discussion
Installed xbmc4xbox as an app on xbmc4gamers, overclocked to 825mhz and enjoying youtube in 720p! AMAZING WORK! (admittedly 720p can make the sound slightly desync with the picture, but 360p works perfectly)- 36 replies

Anyone got any ideas as to *what* we could playtest to see any noticeable differences? I've been playing through a couple of Final Burn Legends games, CPU heavy shmups with a lot going on onscreen where slowdown is a thing, but I'd love to hear others' ideas on this. PS1 emulation, N64 emulation, that kind of stuff comes to mind in terms of slowdown generally.

Would this overclocking stick through launching anything though? Like emulators or whatever?

Forgot i made this topic but since you answered I'll respond: i bought an old 1.6 Xbox with a nasty case and swapped over the power supply. Guess what? My slim Xbox now works flawlessly. Clicking PSU confirmed to have been the cause. No idea what causes this issue but seen several instances of this quiet clicking online and they all seem to relate to 1.6s. would be nice to know what causes it as there's nothing visually that gives the game away at all.

Final Burn Legends - Artwork, Movies, Etc

Have you got a working link? This one is dead -
I'm trying to 128mb/720p patch GTA San Andreas but no luck, always reboots to the dashboard. Have tried OgXHD and XBEPatcher and every permutation within said patchers (Auto/Windowed/Aggressive etc). Vice City runs in 720p (radar broken) but SA... even with 128mb it just won't run 720p. Any idea if there's a functioning 720p .xbe patch for San Andreas out there?

USB Keyboard Support on PSO etc?

USB Keyboard Support on PSO etc?
hastings298 replied to hastings298's topic in General Xbox Discussion
Issue solved: Found the oldest, crappiest, most vanilla Microsoft keyboard and plugged it in, recognised it first time. PSO with a keyboard is epic and typing in IP settings a breeze. Thank you! -
USB Keyboard Support on PSO etc?
hastings298 replied to hastings298's topic in General Xbox Discussion
Tried using this generic thing, the xbox detects a memory stick if i plug that in so there's definitely a connection. -
Can't help much, but I will say I had the exact same thing happen yesterday. 1.6/1.6b xbox, holding the power button I would hear a quiet electronic "click" sound like it was trying to boot (the sound came from near the plug of the PSU, not the HDD). PSU looked flawless, motherboard also flawless. Bought a dirty old 1.6 off ebay, snagged the PSU, put it in and the system works flawlessly. 1.6 Power supplies are really weird and can fail without any obvious damage.

I have a very basic non-multimedia USB keyboard and a USB->Xbox adapter, such as what you might use for a soft mod. I can't seem to get it to work with PSO, or even the network settings page (I tried typing in 192.168 etc). I've also tried using the X3CP faceplate USB ports but same problem there too, no reaction. Am I doing something wrong? Would be cool to be able to type in PSO or use it in Xbmc4Gamers.

Anyone good with widescreen patches? i managed to patch GTA Vice City for 720p and it works great, only thing is - the radar disappeared! Game is pretty much unplayable w/o it. Anyone familiar with fixing this issue? There was a doubled picture issue too until i disabled widescreen in the MS dash.

is there any reason to use Cerbios over IND-BIOS 5003 Shutdown+RAM Patched+XBL Enabled.zip? I'm using Cerbios with the 128mb xbox I received and it seems to be working well
-
What's the deal on 128 MB IND-BIOS 5003 vs Cerbios? A very kind chap at RetroModz UK has made me a 128mb RAM 1.1 Xbox using this BIOS, but I'm curious about 128Mb/Cerbios support

what makes you think that? the board itself is pristine and 1.6, can't see any evidence it was ever recapped
-
Yes 99% sure; I'm *very* well acquainted with the cap problems that cause most issues on the OG. This is either a 1.6 or 1.6b motherboard that is absolutely pristine, no sign of bulging caps at all. It was working fine until I left it for a couple months, I came back and at first it turned on, but each time I turned it on it struggled more and more to start up. Until eventually all I hear is this very light, maybe 60hz "clicking" noise that I tried to pin down - 100% comes from somewhere near the socket.
-
Thanks buddy. I unplug it then hold the power button to discharge as much as possible. Maybe tap it a few more times for safety. Not sure if that's the right thing to do but never been shocked. Pretty sure something on this PSU is dead, maybe the fuse? Idk. Quiet clicking noise is definitely coming from the area of the PSU and not the HDD etc.
-
Getting a quiet clicking noise when trying to boot, sound seems to come from the psu.
