Let me bring up this topic again.

I got a X-Bit 1.0 today (without doughter board) and i managed to wire it up with an dip switch and so far the xbit seams to work. The software for the xbit 1.0 runs, after a little troubleshooting, on windows 7 x64 but it seams i can't access it (no read or wirte options). The chip comes up with a lot of errors about that.

So i tried a windows xp vm. All fine, chip shows up but then also no luck on read / write / status or format.

So anybody has found another solution except an real windows xp mashine to get that old chip up and running?

EDIT : Found a tool for the XBIT 1.0 for linux (maybe useful for one or the other ... (which didn`t include me for real cuz there is no gui))

you need windows xp or older, like I said in my earlier post I spent hours trying to flash it using vista in compatibility mode with no joy. I had no problem from the xp desktop  I was given this year.

Okay so the composite cables work fine. No issues now for several hours. The video quality is a little bland but not bad overall. Its not unplayable quality by any means so this is a good start for now.

    Thanks for the input.

At least the composite is working, are you sure you don’t have a component outlet? On one of my TVs you have to go into settings and chose between composite and component.

Going by what they visually look like, yes. I don't see bulging or odd cues. I haven't checked them beyond that so far.

I currently don't have any chips that can hold a 1MB BIOS, like the debug BIOS.

Technically I have a Xenium Ice chip that has big enough BIOS banks, but it doesn't work with debug (MX2) boards.

You don’t need a 1mb bios on a chip to test the mb, your mb has a 1 mb bios but you would not be using that if you install a chip.

I only have an Aladdin XT+2 and a DUO X2 Lite, neither of which can handle a 1MB BIOS.

Hi, you can use either of the chips to test the mb you would just not be using the mb bios. If the Xbox boots up using the chip but not the onboard bios you will know that that is the issue.

Hello. Im new guy here. More of a customer then a modder.

I recently purchased a modded xbox from a reputable source. The unit itself is great. I am having a problem though.

I have a 65" vizio 4k tv in my living room (this is where i need this setup). I cannot get a stable signal to the tv. It is constantly dropping signal every 2-10 seconds. The screen is blacking out and on.

I have spent all week trying to figure this out with multiple setups and adapters.

    Tried panorama hd converter cable

    Pound hd converter

    Component to hdmi

Yes the connections are seated properly in the inputs. I tried every combination of all things on each individual hdmi input. All with the same results or worse even.

The xbox itself works good on older tvs i have in other rooms. So i do not think this is the problem.

I called vizio and they gave me a long answer which ended in the tv is just not compatible with this xbox. Which i think sounds like a bogus answer but, maybe they are right. Was basically that tv wont upscale an xbox to 4k. They told me hdmi 3 input is not a 4k input. That does not work either. I feel like their answer was lazy because if 4k is the problem and hdmi 3 input is not 4k and that does not work either then problem is something different.

I also have an email conversation open with guys from pound technology. So far they are of no help at all.

So my thoughts are who would know the answer to this better then the great people of ogxbox community. Guys who master fixing all problems xbox.

    Tv model# is V655-G9

    Has 3x hdmi input

And 1 x Composite (not component)

    1 x Cable input

Anyone here has had this issue before and solved it?

I would appreciate very much any help you can provide. Thank you.

Edit: if there is a better category to post this in let me know so i can move post.

Hi and welcome. It definitely sounds like a tv issue, I would check your settings on the tv to see if you can find a combo that works. Do you have a composite cable you could try to see if you can get that to work?

I'm in the process of redoing the mods a 22 year old version of myself did. I'm 40 now lol. I checked to make sure it was plugged in right, checked out. Checked to make sure the pins on the board and the fan connector were making a good connection. I am at work now but i'll check what the temp reading is. I think it's displaying maybe 39c? Again i'll have to double check but I know it was getting hotter then that. I let it run for 5 minutes thinking the fan wouldn't turn on until reaching X temperature but it never did. I'll also check to see if I have voltage coming out of the pins on the motherboard. Does the fan spin no matter what as soon as the xbox is turned on or does it stay off until it reaches a certain temp? And thanks I appreciate the help with this, I just want to get this thing up and running right it was a gift from my father who is no longer with me.

Depending on your bios the fan should be running at 20%. Check the voltage output at the fan connections, if you don’t a multi-meter try upping the fan speed in your dash.

hi so I did the following steps so far

1)softmodded my 1.0 via SC PH

    2) I used rocky5's tools to null the eeprom then extract the nulled eeprom backup to my gdrive

ok so now I have a sata hdd (Seagate 500GB) and a kingwin SATAtoIDE board knowing that it doesn't have a master/slave switch by best option is to use xboxhdm i have a question first is there a way to burn the iso to usb boot instead of by cd?

and i want hdm2.0 that supports sata drives correct?

    thanks for your help

Hi, if you use Xboxhdm 2.3 you don’t need to burn a disk, here’s a link to a video using 2.3.

What is the average temperature of a modded Xbox (at boot and after playing for 1 hour, just an example ) ?

Does the temperature get higher if games are played from HD or discs ?

What to do if it's too high / how to change the fan settings to reduce the temperature (in Slayers 1.7 or other dashboards like XMBC or Unleash, etc...) ?

Is there any other setting to check in order to keep the temperature stable or lowest as possible?

There are a few threads on the site discussing temps and thermal paste.

the Xbox will cut out at 72c so if it is doing this I would change the thermal paste and up the bios fan speed, they are normally set at 20%.
Depending on which dash you use you will get different temps, somewhere between 40c and 60c is good.

the dash fan speed will stop being relevant once you start a game.

Hi, recently got my xbox out of the loft, must have been there at least 10-12 years. It has an aladdin modchip inside and when booted up holding the power button shows executer2 under the xbox logo. I've been getting the error 16 code when booted up normal and if I put my original hard drive in i get error 5. Ive removed the clock capacitor and cleaned up around the area it was. I've tried to use both hexen and slayer dvd-r both burned using imgburn at 2x speed but after the flubber animation and xbox logo the screen goes blank. I've left the xbox running whilst on blank screen for around 2 hours to see if there is any change but there isn't. Xbox had Agent under fire in with it also so I'm assuming it has something to do with the modchip?

I'm also new to all this modchip etc

    Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Well your chip is fine, it sounds like your hdd and possibly your dvd drive. Have you tried running a retail disk?

Yes sir I’ve done that a couple times as well now I’m using my DVD drive out of mine and it still doing the exact same thing

Have you tried dropping one of your other unlocked hdds in?

I’m sorry I forgot to mention that I also switched Aladdin chips as well before I got that screen originally I just got no picture and a flashing red and green light after it failed to start three times or two times so I put the new DVD drive and Aladdin chip in and that’s the screen I got so I pulled The Aladdin ship out and replaced it with the original one and I still have a blank screen but the green light is blinking I will try to post a video

Have tried booting with an install disk in the dvd drive?

I'm pretty sure this thing fraged some during the installation. Is it true that replacing the capacitors will fix this? If so can anyone send a like for the best place to purchase. It tries to load 3x then flashes red/green.

Was the Xbox fragging before you started, I would have thought the frag will be to do with the lpc rebuild? You just need an electronics supplier for replacement caps, it depends where in the world you are, online there's Digikey, farnell, cpc farnell and a load more.

So I'm running an xbox v1.4 with a executer 2.3 Lite mod chip and a 2TB HDD with Origins image. Also I'm using a Pound HDMI (yes I know it's a POS!). On my LG TV the aspect ratio is 16:9 but on the Visio and Samsung TV the xbox games are displayed 4:3 aspect radio. The Origins dash is displayed correctly in 16:9. I recall before modding the original dash had a video settings screen. Any way to get to this screen or make this adjustment?

    Thanks

    video.jpg

Make sure you are using ntsc video with 480, 720 and widescreen ticked in m$ dash. Then check your tv’s settings, I had a bush set to 16.9 but had to alter the settings to get it to view games in widescreens.

And...... now the 1.2 is DEAD...........  OMG I am this close to just throwing all these xbox's in the trash.....

So I was trying to find a combination of 2.6's that would work.  You know, swapping the leads, the chips, the on/off daughterboard and somehow... somehow, it fried the 1.2..

I desoldered everything, and removed the chip.  Now the regular 1.2 which was working perfectly fine just boots to blinking green lights, reboots then frags...  uggggggggggggggggg

Check for solder splashes and bridges, post a pic of the lpc area.

I installed the aliddin chip today and now I have no audio or video. I do have the hexen 2020 disk ready to use once I figure out the audio video issue.

Did you have a soft mod before you installed the Aladdin? are you booting with hexen already in the dvd drive, this should load hexen before the Aladdin looks for evoxdash.xbe on C.

I meant to fix them up nicely the first time I started this whole thing, then life happened and they ended up stuffed in a box and hauled around for a while...

I wasn't sure if the clock cap was also intended as a decoupling cap for a nearby chip, but if it removal hasn't been shown to cause any harm... it's probably okay-ish. I don't think mine have seen power in as long as the whole time they've been stored, either.

Oh, true! Big drives are definitely way cheaper (and bigger), and midsize SSDs are pretty affordable, which is tentatively the plan. I don't need to keep a whole archival library on it, just my own personal (very modest) collection, and I've no intention of using it for storing media or running emulators. I was considering TSOP flashing too, as a backup for the chip since the 2.6's don't have an integrated recovery mechanism, but I dunno. Kinda wish I could've gotten the 3.0 instead of the 2.6 for that.

Don’t bother with ssds for speed as you will not get the benefit, they are a good idea if you plan on making an ultra slim because of the size.

plenty of xeniums available due to the open source version, x3s come up for sale on eBay regularly.

  17. If you can load hexen use the file explorer option to check you have evoxdash.xbe on C. You could always install unleashx as your dash and that should at least get you up and running. Just don’t reformat anything or you will lose all your games.
