Idk either but thank you, I'll give it a shot ASAP. Gotta order some more thermal paste first. If that's all it ends up being, I'll be thrilled

If your temperatures are normal, then thermal paste is not necessary and it will not fix this. Also, if the graphical errors are present immediately upon boot, then the artifacting is not being caused by overheating. Really, in the case of the Original Xbox, the thermal glue that is used is pretty much fuckin' bulletproof. That stuff is incredibly durable. In fact, if your temperatures are good, I would not remove the stock cooling compound setup. It just would serve no purpose. If you have never removed those sinks and they have never been apart from the motherboard, I would assume  that your thermal compound is intact and is still doing the job it was doing 20 years ago.

Looking to replace my ide drive with a sata drive, I have the startech adaptor and a molex splitter, only question is my 80wire ide cable won't be here till may 7th, ordered a https://a.co/d/2qL1JSJ cable they seem to be on back order, can I use my 40wire ide until that one gets here, wanna go ahead and swap the drive and get my stuff transfered

Yes you can... However, you will be limited to UDMA 2 speeds, reliably. You can either flash the UDMA 2 version of Cerbios for the time being, or flash UDMA 6 to get prepared for the cable and just boot into safe mode using the eject button to power on. Using UDMA 6 will definitely result in an error.

But why sad? Shouldn't it be exciting to see the OG xbox getting some new life?

And yeah, you nailed it. Those files basically contain the URL to the actual stream location of https://www.toonamiaftermath.com/

Way back when, there was a XBMC addon that supported Toonami Aftermath more natively but using the file browser is the only way I found that still works.

Toonami Aftermath itself is a recreation of Toonami from back in it's hey-day. It's got EST and PST streams that are identical except for the PST being a couple hours behind. I enjoy running it on a Xbox through a CRT for a extra nostalgia hit

Very briefly, could you just tell me where to put it and anything else that may be necessary first? I use XBMC4XBOX. I'm just not familiar with addons.

Sad, because the profiles I'm seeing in this thread are no longer active after 5 years. lol.

  4. Would somebody be willing to detail how to do this and exactly what it is? I'm not entirely sure based on reading the thread. Seems like it's basically a file that points to files hosted on a server somewhere. Can I just drop this in a directory and go?

It's kinda' funny to see all these profiles that I don't recognize... and a little sad. :(

Debugging with datasheet of LC4032V I've discover jumper between B8 and B10(L1 and D0 respectively in XT)...

Just cut B8 trace and solder wire directly in pin leg. Profit! :D

Could you maybe detail a bit where this acquired, what it's original specs were, what the CPLD flash was supposed to do (1MB upgrade maybe?) and whatever else? I'm interested. :)

Aladdin's usually have a shitty d0 pad. I'm actually surprised it was booting off the lpc

As far as I know, Aladdins made in this decade don't have a working D0.

I tried deleting all the files on C:\ to remove the soft mod, then installed MS dash and Evolution X, but the mod chip will only load the XBMC.

I assume I need to update the bios of the modchip?

Please be a bit more detailed. What installer are you using? Which partition are you telling the installer to install your dash to? I would honestly not continue using this chip, as it's kind of a headache, to be honest. But that is only my opinion. Maybe consider an XBlast Aladdin or an OpenXenium.

I would try to flash Cerbios. Evox is outdated and not really as useful anymore. There is no reason to use it as your bios. I do not know the flashing process for the DuoX, but it may be able to be flashed with the XBE version of XBlastOS.

    Hi guys

The service error code i'm getting is 21 when I attempt to run the xboxdash.xbe within file manager.

Would this normally be the correct way of running the file to load the MS dash or any dash for that matter.

It works when I run it for the Unleashed dashboard so that's what I did with this too.

I only have the .xmb file in the folder I put it in, in my file structure ,no others. is this normally correct.

    Thanks

This is a general dash error. See if running an installer such as the OGXbox installer and "Setting up" C resolves your issue. Formatting C and reinstalling the general files there is not a risk as longas you are not softmodded.

I’ve bought another OX chip, be interesting on the condition of soldering.

Where are the BT and D0 wires allow the chip to turn off and on.

There is no BT wire, as it serves no purpose with the OX. D0 is on the top right of the chip. It has a separate Lframe pad to ensure that it is operated correctly as a means of LPC booting.

It appears that TSOP booting or "disabling" the chip is done by booting into XeniumOS and choosing to boot from the onboard flash.

    https://consolemods.org/wiki/Xbox:OpenXenium

"Ability to boot from the onboard BIOS (colloquially known as TSOP booting). This will completely disable OpenXenium and release D0/LFRAME(1.6) to boot the Xbox as if it is stock."

TSOP flashed with EvoX M2 + F & G Bios from the Hexen disc

Do I need to lock the drive.

Actually, if you're booting a modded bios to the MS dash, I think that it should not be giving an error about drive locking. What is the error number in the top left?

    Hi

    thanks for you reply.

my Bios is showing as 1.0.5838.1 but is also showing as "Unknown. Please add MD5 from xbmc.log" in the Hardware Information section of the XBMC's settings menu.

my HDD lock state is showing as "Not Locked" in this menu also.

    hope this helps

Your HDD being "not locked" may be the reason for this error. The version number you are showing sounds like the dashboard kernel version.  How are you modded, exactly? Softmod? Chip? TSOP?

    Hi everyone.

    I'm after a little help.

I'm running XBMC4Gamers as my default dash on my V1.1 Hard modded Xbox but I'm wanting to load into a stock MS dashboard for insignia purposes.

I've downloaded an MS dashboard from the internet but when I run it from file explorer I get a service error screen and I have to shut down to then reboot back to normal.

When I navigate to the evodash.xmb in file manager and run that it boots into the unleashed dashboard with no issues so 'm thinking this is the method to use.

Am I doing something wrong when trying to use the MS dashboard . Is this the correct method of doing this.

if not could someone give me some info on how to do the procedure correctly.

I'm am wondering if i've got a bad download of the MS dashboard file or am I using a wrong one. I think I've downloaded the latest one (5960)

Does it matter which version I use ?    I'm guessing it should be the latest one.

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thank you

     I

What bios are you using and what service error is it? I have a feeling that your HDD locking may be disabled which will cause an error. Either that, or your C partition is a bit borked and needs to be setup again, which sometimes happens.

The debug Dashboard works very nice, thank you for sharing. Can someone explain how i can add Games or Apps from my HDD to the launch menu of the debug menu? Wanted to try some of the unreleased Games which require debug BIOS...

Really any executables in the "E:\Devkit\" folder can show up, as they are scanned when the dashboard loads. I would just create a folder called "Games" or whatever seems appropriate to you in the "devkit" folder and place game files in their own respective folders. Keep in mind that retail, signed executables cannot run when launched from the dashboard. This is not really intended to be a main dashboard. If you would like to install it as an "app" dashboard, the option is in the installer to do so. Or you could conversely load it as your main dash (also an option in the installer) and then use Pheonix Bios Loader to boot into a regular dashboard/modded setup, which is how I have my system set up currently... even though it's in pieces due to being in mid-construction right now 😛

    Red/Orange is a memory issue.

For some reason, the Xbox's 64MBs of RAM memory is not working properly. Possible causes:

    • Solder bridge between pins on one or more of the chips.

    • LPC Debug port's LRESET# pin (pin #5) being held low (or in a floating state that's not registering as a logic '1' level - HIGH) which keeps the RAM memory and other peripheral chips in a reset state never allowing them to run. (Edit: xbox-hq.com's Fixing flashing red/orange tutorial)

    • Dead RAM chip that requires replacement.

It's possible that the electrolyte corrosion damaged something involving the RAM without actually being the RAM. Unless replacing all the modules fixes it, this board is probably a lost cause since there is too much to diagnose. There have been cases I have seen where replacing the troublesome ram chip (probably only one chip in many instances, as long as RAM chip(s) are the cause) remedied the issue.

Full instal guide? Like if burned discs are usable for this or how else?

Just burn the iso with imgburn and run it in the xbox. It has scripting that will take care of the job for you. It also has all the software you will need on the PC side, although I need to immediately post the link to the VMware XP/XDK image that's out there. It makes the process much easier if you wish to take the VM route (not my cup o tea. I like my setups difficult and impractical, lol.).

Actually I will probably make an ISO of the PC-side software that isn't XISO so that it can just be inserted into the PC. I'll do so tonight. Should make things much easier for people.

I completely forgot about Hazenos guide until you said that. I'm so used to softmods, I forgot.

The disc instructions said to repair C and E with my dash of choice, and that's all I remember doing. I then backed up C and E, formatted the hdd in FatX, installed the backups, and here we are.

Would this fix Dashloader not working or did I install it wrong?

As per Kaos: "Sorry, on an Xbox Softmodding Tool modded console, the Dashloader configuration files are not stored/found in the C drive's Dashloader subfolder. They are in:

    • /E/UDATA/21585554/000000000000/nkpatcher settings/dashloader"

I'm not sure if that addresses the dashloader question directly, but you are dealing with shifting partitions and it is hard to keep track of them when doing stuff like this.

Do yourself a favor and get rid of your softmod. It's causing you needless headaches. You reinstating that backup basically undid the intended benefits of formatting those partitions once hardmodded. Backup your C and E data manually, only keeping what you know you want. Wipe out the rest. Whichever way you format the drive, make sure that you use the "Setup" files that the installer disc wants to load onto the partitions. THEN start building and setting up your dashboard/launchpoint configuration, as well as replacing the files you wanted to backup (which really should only be homebrew apps or maybe gamesaves. NOTHING from the exploit should be preserved).

Yeah. I went from Rocky's v1.2.1 and burned the OGXbox Cerbios Disc v2.3.2 Build 05. Booted it and read the instructions and went good. I deleted the nkpatcher settings folder, I figured I didn't need it anymore. Also flashed the bios to increase the fan and delete the bootanim. Selecting xboxdash.xbe boots to the msdash like normal, either from UX or Gamers.

I suspect your problems stem from the fact that you may be dealing with a shadowC partition, among other things. The "P" and "Q" partitions (which are never present with a hardmod and are present when running a softmod) are evidence of this. I think that even though you deleted the settings folder, nkPatcher is still loading, just with default settings. If you're going from a softmod to a hardmod, I would try backing up what you wanna keep on that drive and formatting and "setting up" C and E (there should be an option to do this on the OGXbox installer and the Cerbios Disc). That should really ALWAYS be done when switching from soft to hard... Giggity.
