  1. HeXEn is a utility and recovery disc, not a dashboard. It can install dashboards though and does so by default when you flash your TSOP or modchip.
  2. Because hardmods are much better than softmods.
  3. You can upload images to another site like imgur and then post the link here, or just upload the images here directly.
  4. Did you remove the clock capacitor when you had it open? 1.0-1.5 Xboxes need to have that capacitor removed, or else it will leak and wreck the motherboard. Check your other Xboxes too. If they aren't 1.6, you need to remove theirs as well.
  5. Could be an issue with the DVD drive going bad. Never play games via the DVD drive because they are old, unreliable and are dying at a very high rate these days. Rip all of your games to the HDD and play them from there.
  6. JCRocky5's Xbox Softmodding Tool is the best. Any other softmod installer is old as shit, does not have a streamlined installation process and is not as stable. Softmod with Rocky's, then use the included NKPatcher Settings application to null your HDD key. This makes it a lot easier to recover from HDD failure in the future. Since you can also solder, I highly advise hardmodding instead of softmodding. You can upgrade to a TSOP flash after a softmod. Or install a modchip right from the get go.
  7. First thing's first. Check which revision it. If it's not a 1.6, remove the clock capacitor right now before it destroys the motherboard.
  8. Did you remove the clock cap too, and change the video to NTSC?
  9. *UnleashX Yes. Every dash included is the newest version.
  10. It's hard to help if you don't mention what the problem is.
  11. I have no idea why he set passwords/passcodes for HeXEn. Never made sense to me. Maybe I'll look into removing them in a later update. Until then though, passcodes should always be AYBX and passwords should always be "xbox." If that's not it, then I'll have to take a look at the xml to see what he set the password to. Also, damn. Change off of that PAL video signal.
  12. Works for me. Google whatever filename it says is missing and see if you can download it.
  13. For future reference, the ArctiClean kit works wonders for removing the old thermal paste. Makes it super quick and easy to remove.
  14. Error 07 is a HDD timeout. So something is likely wrong with the HDD, the adapter, or the cable.
  15. ^ Absolutely, yes. Always replace the stock thermal paste of any Xbox.
  16. Did you remove the clock capacitor?
  17. The Xecuter 3 BIOS itself is fine. The final version was X3 3294.
  18. 1.0-1.5 installation guide 1.6/1.6b installation guide. If your Xbox is a 1.0-1.5, remember to first remove the clock capacitor before it destroys the motherboard.
  19. What do you mean? Are you asking which revision the non-Halo, translucent green console is? They should all be 1.4.
  20. It could be a potential compatibility issue, so it is worth noting, but like I said, I always use component cables with all of my Xboxes and have never had issues with Gentoox, regardless of which video encoder the Xbox had, so I don't think the issue is entirely consistent.
  21. Make sure you check which revision they are. Most crystals are 1.6, but some of the earlier ones from Europe/UK are 1.4 and need to have the clock capacitor removed.
  22. I actually never use anything but component cables with my Xboxes and I've never had problems with Gentoox.
