  1. I made a few changes to HeXEn 2017 to... well, update some of it. There's certainly a lot more that could be done, but I didn't feel like it was necessary to go all-out on it, since the disc is primarily just used for TSOP/modchip flashing and building new HDDs. But with flashing in mind, there were some issues that should have been addressed, which were 1) editing the EvoX M8+ BIOS files to disable the need for a DVD drive on boot up (because it makes no sense to keep that restriction enabled) and 2) removing the ability to flash iND-BiOS 5004.06 (F only), since it is apparently broken and just bricks the TSOP/modchip. Full changelog: - Changed the default.xbe's title to "HeXEn 2018". - New menu background image. - Main menu's network type is now set to DHCP. - Updated all EvoX M8+ .bin files (including sharp.bin) to remove the DVD drive check by default. - Removed iND-BiOS 5004.06 (F only) because it bricks the TSOP/modchip it is flashed to. - ind-bios.cfg now supports 480p by default. - Corrected an error which prevented the sharp.bin BIOS file from being copied to the HDD. - Partially rewrote the TSOP/modchip flash menus to make things more clear and to correct spelling/grammar. - Updated XBMC to include JCRocky5's 480p Game Loader scripts (useful if you have a 1.6 Xbox, otherwise it can be ignored). - Updated Chimp261812 to JCRocky5's latest release. - 1080i support is now disabled by default (because it slows the Xbox down if enabled). - UnleashX .xbe file replaced with a patched version that doesn't automatically create UDATA folders for all .xbe files it sees on the HDD. -Updated the main menu's skin.xml file to display more system information to the user (on the right-hand side of the screen), and changed the color scheme of the options menus, dialogue boxes, file explorer, keyboard, etc. to better match the background image (no more of UnleashX's default ugly blue scheme clashing with it). - Various other spelling and grammatical fixes. - Other general housekeeping. As for the rather bland new menu background, I had to go for a very minimalistic design, because I suck with Photoshop, lol. It gets the job done though. OGXbox download link. 2. *Emulators (PS1, N64, MAME, GBA, SNES, NES, Genesis and any other) run smoother and run a lot of games the 64mb Xbox cannot. this is slightly misleading. the emulators benefit. but i haven't seen many additional games outside of arcade emulation becoming playable. i find the majority of emulation has been extremely well configured for the stock console. i was even slightly withdrawn from my raving when i dropped my n64 set on a stock console.... it runs it just as good, the difference is almost imperceptible. MIND YOU, my configuring of emulators is low level understanding, so maybe there is more john has done. *Video player runs clean and extra RAM allows playback in HD. which video player is that? what are the format specs of the file being played? from what i've experienced there is a marginal increase in fluidity, without getting granular on file specs, i'd say this is mostly incorrect. and to use the abbreviation "HD" is flat out wrong. even the 1.4ghz cpu consoles seem to have a rough time with 720p, 1080 is entirely out of the question i double checked my definition of HD with wikipedia for this, "High-definition video is video of higher resolution and quality than standard-definition. While there is no standardized meaning for high-definition, generally any video image with considerably more than 480 vertical lines (North America) or 576 vertical lines (Europe) is considered high-definition." NOT to be negative John7272, but those are the facts, if you have information to the contrary, please share it. EDIT : I found some self contradicting evidence that suggests im out of line regarding video playback, https://www.xbmc4xbox.org.uk/wiki/XBMC_Features_and_Supported_Formats#Xbox_supported_video_formats_and_resolutions analyze the chart describing supported formats and resolutions I would never spend the time converting media to have it play smoothly in HD on an xbox. I find the majority of my media in H.264 HD not H.263, but hey. technically.... i was wrong. Practically, i still feel right because i dont think the ram impacts performance to the extent of making majority of HD content viewable on this console. Also (based on technicality) the console can already handle HD on stock ram. END OF EDIT All in all; The prospect of upgrading ram is so daunting for an electronics rookie (me) that if you are successful...... the fact that your performance gain is only minimal hardly matters. this is probably my favorite part of the ram upgrade xbmc handles the hefty skins alot better, and just does things better. alot less crashing.

  4. Some people say yes, some people don’t think it’s enough to justify. Some people just like all of the pretty lights. I think I’m in the last group. But I haven’t done it YET, so once I do I’ll share my personal thoughts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  6. When you put in an after market 80mm you have to do a couple of things to make it fit, here’s a good video on that: https://youtu.be/skDQq42uS5o Also, some people have been known to put fans on the CPU/GPU like the Iceberq 4 Pro. They are a couple of other fans that fit as well, but those are the best one, only problem is finding them, and when you do, they’ll usually cost about $40USD each.
