  1. Quick question: Is it possible to just pop in a random HDD and format it on a hardmodded console? I have read that the Project Stellar chip have tools for it. Does cerbios (ChatGPT says so, but I have a hard time finding any information that verifies it)? Any other BIOS? Or does it require a modchip to have those kinds of capabilites? It's simply to avoid the hassle of using FATxplorer in a virtual machine and avoiding stress on the DVD drive.
  2. Hello all, I'm here to try and bring about what tools I've managed to make to get Half-Life 2 on Xbox modable. I think first of all, If your wanting to quickly test mod you can run HL2 via CXBE-R. Ill have to make a post documenting whats all required to run via Folders only mode (Since i dont have a complete XZP packer yet!(Which is mainly due to me not following the spec for XTF 100% correctly.)) Else last thing I was working on is RIFF Wav to Valve's Xbox Wav spec, They cut off RIFF from the spec and have 2 supported audio formats (16Bit PCM or Xbox ADPCM) VTFTrans still has some bugs to work out for more modern VTF used in the likes of TF2, CSGO Ect, Else great for Cube map conversion. -Tools- Source SDK 2006 (Modifyed to produce Xbox Spec BSPs) https://github.com/smb123w64gb/source-sdk-2005-xbox / https://github.com/smb123w64gb/source-sdk-2005-xbox/releases VTFTrans (Tool to translate both XTF and VTF to the other.) https://github.com/smb123w64gb/vtfTrans-rs / https://github.com/smb123w64gb/vtfTrans-rs/releases XZP-PY (Currently a prototype xzp libary for python) https://github.com/smb123w64gb/xzp-py Xbox-AIN (Converts PC ain to Xbox ain) https://github.com/smb123w64gb/xbox_ain / https://github.com/smb123w64gb/xbox_ain/releases -Links- https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Half-Life_2_(Xbox)/Modding_Guide (I've been trying to flesh this out more when I have a chance.) -Use- Source SDK 2006- Requires Source SDK tools installed, and you replace your existing 2006 tools with them. Locations should be <YourSteamFolder>\steamapps\common\SourceSDK\bin\ep1\bin , Even better just Right click Source SDK -> Manage -> Browse local files. Once replaced you will need to update your Compile settings in hammer to. Else if you want to keep your original compilers, Make a copy of the bin file to a new folder and update to there. VBSP - Add -xbox -luxelscale 1 luxelscale will need to go higher if lightmaps fail to pack on VRAD VRAD - Add -xbox -exportLightmaps VTFTrans- Bring ether XTF or VTF to convert. VTF2XTF vtfTrans-rs.exe -x <file>.vtf <optional.xtf will auto rename> XTF2VTF vtfTrans-rs.exe -v <file>.xtf <optional.vtf will auto rename> (Note P8 textures are not supported, mainly VTF doesn't have support) Good flag to use is the -r which halfs the size of the texture. Why, because valve added code that makes all maps to default to half-size textures. So if your wanting HD textures, make sure to have it double of what you want for Xbox. Example Good 1 Liner in CMD to mass convert textures for /R %a in (*.vtf) do <AbsoluteDirectryto>\vtfTrans-rs.exe -r -x %a Xbox-AIN- xbonerAIN.exe <pc.ain file> <xbox.ain output> Not much more i can say, needs more testing. Something about it not wanting to load from cache but from another directory, getting mixed results with testers. Else would like to see people make some cool maps! I'm not much of a mapper, but have ported some maps over for testing. Else here is a nice example from someone in the community.
  3. A new open source installer for XDK_5933 has been released and made public by TeamResurgent along with SDL2.0.10 Port that anyone can use on modern OS(s) with Visual Studio 2019 and higher without the need of running Windows XP Virtual Machines! (Announcement message from Xbox Xscene Discord): Links: RXDK: https://github.com/Team-Resurgent/RXDK SDL2.0.10: https://github.com/Team-Resurgent/RXDK-SDL2x (Posted here for those who are not in the discord)
  4. Someone Please Help Me Use This Tool I've Downloaded Several Others Of This Style But I Don't Know How To Use 20220904_112242.mp4
  5. Hey guys and lady's, the titel mostly say it already. I would be interested in which tools you use for your xbox and which tools you think should be on an installer. And also interesting is what you would like to have on an installer as well like emulators (and ofc which), dasdboards (Old, new ect.) or which options you think would be nice to have on that disc. Reason is, Dave an I had a little chat about the installer and some little issues with it and like I wrote in the topic (of the installer), I plan to re-design it a bit, if you will so. (Because Dave is right here and there so, yeah....) Thats why I would like to get some imput of you guys. PM's are also welcome, in case you're shy. So hit me with your suggestions ect.. EDIT. And no softmodding. Rocky does a awesome job with his softmodding tool so there would be no need to put something like that on an other installer.
  6. Hello, I'm new here on this forum but not new in modding xbox's I just received the Pound interface to connect an HDMI cable to the original XBOX, but XMBC doesn't let me change the resolution to 720p. I know I need the Hexen Tools to do this, but as a newbie here, I have no access (yet) to the download a pitty....
  7. Hello all! here is my Softmod Tutorial...! Originally made in 2006, uploaded to torrents, updated and reborn in 2018 as an OGXbox.com Exclusive! anywhore... its written in an easy to follow "noob-blog-style" just in case you are wondering why its so lame... UPDATING FILES FOR DOWNLOAD!! also additionally here are some essential xbox tools for modding/softmodding that are extremely hard to find these days due to most xbox scene sites and forums being dead. I have had them for over 12 years on a unused backup drive. UPDATING FILES FOR DOWNLOAD!! As always all files have been scanned for security threats by VirusTotal.com to rule out any contamination, with the exception of one false-positive in "Xplorer360 v0.9 Beta 6.zip". ** Keep in mind that these tools were made on and for xp/7 32bit windows, they may or may not work or work properly on 32 or 64 bit win 7/8/10, I recommend win xp/7 32bit virtual installation via VMware or virtualbox. Enjoy!
  8. I rebuilt the LPC port on my Xbox v1.6 today and had kind of a tough time with it, so I'm curious what everyone else uses to mod their consoles; type of wire, flux, solder, soldering iron/station, soldering tip, soldering temperature, cleaning solution, etc. I used some 30AWG wire-wrapping wire from Amazon, an Aoyue 937+ with the fine tip that came with it, RadioShack rosin flux paste, and RadioShack 62/36/2 rosin-core solder. I've soldered quite a few 0.1" headers on microcontroller and FPGA development kits with great success, but their pads were like twice as thick as those on the Xbox's LPC port. I had a hell of a time getting the pads to heat so that the solder would flow nicely. I also ended up burning the solder mask in a couple of places where I left the tip on too long trying to get the pads heated. Fortunately it still seems to work, but the joints look pretty bad. I think part of the problem was the fine solder tip, but I didn't have much luck with a chisel tip either.
