About Me

  1. I need some help repairing my original Xbox. I got an error 07 and got a new hard drive as I found this mod chip attached and was following some guides. I burnt a disk with Hexen and tried to run it but I still get a 07. I'm unsure what this mod chip actually is and can't find a solution to get my Xbox fixed. Any help whatsoever would be appreciated.
  2. Hello together, I received a new xbox with following Problems. it automaticaly turns on when lt la plugged ln Error code 5 Sometimes there it does boot into the dashboard Xbox does have a modchip, but l can’t identify which one it is. How can I repair/fix this issue. Already saw one wire is broken, will try to fix it.
  3. Hello together Hope to get some help signed up espacially for this issue I have a xbox version 1.3 with error code 16, so i bought a modchip while booting top left in the screen there is a „x“ Symbol. modchip is a Duo x 2 Problem is After this screen there is again an error 16 Message. Below the the cable i have soldered, d0 has already been corrected with a thinner wire. Backround to the console, i had done a tsop before and changed the hdd. Big Problem i don‘t know where the „new“ hdd is located. So i only have the original hdd onhand. Also some of the traces had corrisions, that is the reason of the additional wires. I‘m also sorry for my english as i‘m originaly living in Germany hope i explained it good enough that you Can understand my Problem
  4. There seems to be a lot of conflicting information online about the on-off-on-off-on-orange/red error light commonly seen on the 1.0/1 units. Basically the power cycle FRAG but with orange/red instead of green/red. I've seen some people claim it's a RAM issue, one guide suggests it's a power circuit issue (same guide previously claimed it was an AV circuit issue). The only somewhat accurate information is it's the PCI_RESET line not reaching pin 5 of the LPC after sloppy soldering but what if the motherboard is untouched? I was working on a 1.0 a few weeks ago that was unopened. PCI_RESET and PCI_RESET B was reaching all the chips it was supposed to so it wasn't the LPC thing. Sadly the issue was never fixed. Does anyone know with 100% certainty what this particular error means? I want this properly documented.
  5. So I really have a hardrive problem and I am really stuck I was upgrading my Xbox harddrive with a bigger 2tb hardrive using Chimp I was fiddling with the older hardrive and I turned the button from master to slave WHILE the xbox was turned on and I got a bunch of errors so I turned it off and tried turning it on again but It came out with a error 7 To remedy this I downloaded FatXplorer but I have no Idea how to use it Does anyone have a solution or some help? Anything will help
  6. I recently dug up my old OG Xbox (V1.0) from my parents' basement. It's been sitting for a while, and when I got to it, it was pretty rusted. Right now, it frags most of the time, cycling twice before flashing red and green, but occasionally it boots to an error screen. I'm testing without the disc drive or hard drive connected, so I think the error might be related to that. I haven't managed to get it to boot with the disc drive/HD connected but I'm not sure if that's relevant or just coincidence. It's stock, it hasn't been soft/hard modded and I'm the first person to open it. I’ve done a few console mods and handheld builds before, but this is my first time working on an Xbox. Any help would be really appreciated! Here’s what I’ve tried so far: Cleaned off as much rust as possible and repainted the metal case. I made sure to file off the paint on the contact points and confirmed continuity from the motherboard and PSU to the case. Removed the clock capacitor. There was a lot of gunk around it, but I didn’t spot any bulging or visible damage on the other caps. I reflowed a few of the components nearby that didn't look nice. I cleaned the area with vinegar and IPA. I also ordered a Console5 cap kit, which should arrive in a few days. Found a broken trace on the bottom of the board using this guide (though it's for a 1.1): Trace Corrosion Fix. Couldn't see the break, but my multimeter showed no contact between the points, so I ran a jumper wire. No power button issues so far, so not sure if it’s related to the fragging. Reflowed the solder points on the PSU connector for the power cord. Removed the CPU and GPU heatsinks, cleaned them, and applied new thermal compound. Checked the LPC voltages, and they seem normal according to this LPC Voltage Guide. I’m getting 5.1V and 3.3V. Tried the "3 pin hack" as a long shot in case it was a bad BIOS, but it didn’t seem to help. As recommended in this thread Once the cap kit arrives, I plan to swap out the capacitors, but I’m not sure what else to try after that. I haven’t spotted anything else visually wrong but I'm hoping someone more experienced will see something I can't. Thanks again. Google Photo Album with more pictures
  7. I need help from a technical repair expert and a mod chip expert for this. I have never encountered this error. Note: This is my first mod chip build Finished an open xenium build, used Xflasher to flash the svf file to the cpld. Started off with a green light, seems that green is the only light that works. Wrote a raw file using xenium tools. Didn't get any errors. Turned off the xbox and can't get the chip to boot into xenium OS. I noticed that during the Hotswap, the MCPX chip was getting hot, im not sure if that's normal. The Xbox faulted out to this GPU error. The Xbox is now Fragging with a known working modchip. I am now wondering if something was fried. The JTAG header cable did brush against the the side of the metal case, I don't know if that would be enough to short something. What could be a cause of not booting into Xenium OS after successful SVF flash and chip write? Is the GPU error connected to the modchip build? Could it fry the GPU? Where is the first place to start checking with my meter?
  8. Hello I am having issues with Emustation Snes9xbox by Mednefen NES/SNES error with loading ROMs. I have done the folllowing: downloaded emustation zip file -> extracted the folder on Windows 11 -> it has XBMC-Emustation folder inside an XBMC-Emustation folder -> I extracted the internal folder and FTP it to my OG Xbox -> installed the emulators including NES and SNES -> placed ROMs inside relevant folders for each system -> choose rom to boot from Emustation console system-> NES goes to emulator menu then when I select a game it fails everytime with permissions error and SNES just a blank screen - all others working including SEGACD Error message is permissions error. also tried: downloaded emustation zip file-> FTP it to my OG Xbox -> unzipped as is -> installed the emulators including NES and SNES -> placed ROMs inside relevant folders for each system -> choose rom to boot from Emustation console system-> NES goes to emulator menu then when I select a game it fails everytime with permissions error and SNES just a blank screen Have I missed a step or done something I should not have? Specs: OG XBOX v1.6 Video encoder: XCalibur NTSC ACER LCD Softmodded with Rocky5 UnleashX Dash latest XBMC-Emustation (compiled Jul27 2024)
  9. My Softmodded v1.6 is having issues on soft restarts. It’s going into an Error 07. Weird because it’s running an Samsung EVO SSD and a Startech adapter that I Installed a few years ago. Any clues? It doesn’t have a boot issue. It has an issue with soft restarts using my controller with the four button method from XBMC and the softmod.
  10. Probably an HDD issue but not sure what I can do .. My Xbox has a xecuter 2 modchip and when I flip a switch this insert CD screen appears. 3 switches with one of them opening this screen..I am no expert with that modchip but can this help?
  11. I booted up my Xbox with error code 13, I unplugged the power and plugged it back in and gave me error code 16. Is there any way I can save this Xbox without using another xbox?
  12. Bit of a necro post but having had error 16 and figuring it out the hard way...I came to the same result and,I think, at least in my case, I have found something that appears to be an explanation and fits my issues. Googling further to find more on various Xbox error codes I found myself at this post. Being inexperienced in more than softmodding my own box and upgrading it's drive, I've never tried to just repair a random box, but I intend to do more this place seems perfect! Bit of a tale to this one... I bought a faulty xbox. Turned out it was chipped (super aladdin live) and the box was throwing all sorts of errors. Removing the chip completely got to a new error. The drive (upgraded) was not locked. Being once hardmodded that made sense. I needed to lock it.. but how? Found I could get the eeprom from the Xbox by soldering a few wires to the Xbox and dumping it using my raspberry pi. Great success. Finally got fat Xplorer to detect my drive, formatted it as standard Xbox drive and locked it. Booted up, all looked good. Then, error 16! This was a very new code! I found with some googling that this is is due to the system clock being unset. (could be wrong but leads to correct results and seems dashboard related) The box tried to boot the Microsoft dash to set this Even trying to boot a game failed. (On my other softmod box I could always boot discs regardless of the HDD state as long as it was there and partitions correct. That's how I would use a burned dvd to rebuild it..) Retracing my steps I realised my error. My drive was blank!! I placed all the stock files on the drive and tried again. All sorted Xbox booted and asked me to set the date and time. I'm waiting on a programmer for the aladdin flash chip. My hunch is Someone tried to update their chip and broke it? Unlocked HDD leading to soft brick as no way of using default bios? Edited 8 minutes ago by flip_flop Further info and typos. OCD, ADHD edit. Last one. Sorry if this is all common knowledge now but I was pleased to bring this box back from the dead. Getting the eeprom dump.. whoever found that i2c connection. Genius
  13. Hello, I’m trying to repair an Xbox Ver 1.1 for a friend. It has a Xenium 0449 05 M2 MT mod installed with a 160 GB HDD. I’m getting a 05 error on boot up. So, I’m assuming its booting with xbox original bios and 05 error has to do with the unlocked 160GB HDD. My question is, what options do I have here. I don’t know if Mod is bad or the HDD has an error. The mod has a red led always on and I don’t know if this is normal. If mod is ok, what options do I have to repair HDD to work with existing Xenium mod.I have checked the D0 wire and it is ok. Thanks
  14. First say hello to the members! After years i found my xbox again . I have a 1.0 with a xecuter 1 modchip and i replaced the dvd drive to a Samsungs SD 616. I thought i would be nice to have a modifed box with more than my 80GB HDD. So tried my best. I solderd out the old modchip, replaced it with a cheap aladdin from aliexpress an removed the capacitor for the clock. Now i have the problems. I got an error 16 when i started up the box. No EvoX logo is shown on the screen. No DVD like OGXbox Installer ist working so far. The led on the modchip ist red when turned on. I tried this with the old cable and old hdd. I think the modchip is not working. What are the possible problems? Did I some mistakes with soldering? Is the modchip garbage? Should i flash the chip out of the modchip. If this is correct. Witch cheap programmer should i use. Thanks for your help!. eisbier
  15. Hi, Having modded quite a few Xbox's 'back in the day' I've just come back to one of my old X3 custom front panel one's and am getting some slightly odd behaviour. It was oriiginally all flashed up on the standard 1234 banks and working fine. However, I'm now getting strange errors as sson as I try do boot with the chip on whether I boot normally or into the 256k backup. Although I do seem to be getting different error messages in each case. The bank lights on the front panel (specifically bank 1 &2) seem to be a bit intermittent but not sure if this is the cause of the problem, I've tried switching to the second 1mb bank also to no avail. Finally I'm running it from an HDMI converter at the moment as I'm waiting for a replacement original SD lead, not sure if this would make any difference. I'm a bit stuck as I can't seem to find any reference to the error I'm seeing. Been through all my own documentation and searched extensively online but no dice. Any help would be very very much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
  16. Hey guys so anyways, I was trying to install addons for xbmc4xbox, but when it tries to install the add on, it gives me a error, the error says “Error - Install Impossible” idk what to do about it so can you help me please?
  17. Hi I installed an Analog2HDMI in my xbox 1.0 with the help of these PCBs: Everthing went smooth video looks great but sadly no audio. I have booted into original dash and turned off dolby surround to surround and ac3 and dts off butr still no luch. Is there a fix for it? I checked everything with a multimeter and the scematics and seems to be good there.
  18. Hi, I have a 1.4 revision Xbox which is modchipped with a generic Aladdin XT Plus2, it was modified many years back and was working normally when put away, Now when I turn it on, I get 1 green flash followed by red flashing of the LED. It does not matter the modchip I use which are all Aladdins, and have been proven tested/working in other consoles. The power LED initially flashes green once and then red. No video/audio on TV. I should add, it is only the left half of the LED that is flashing. I suspected it was due to the trace rot repair, but reversing this did not help. It was working normally when put away. The console powers up without even the front panel buttons connected. No solder splashes that I can see. Attempting to reverse the mod entirely (removing D0 point grounding and chip) I get FRAG.
  19. 20. Hi all. I finally managed to get cerbios loaded up (turned Modchip protection off!) and have loaded up some games. The problem is when I try and download artwork installer, I get this message. Does anyone have any idea what this means and how to fix it?
  21. I was trying to softmod my xbox by unlocking it using PiPROM and after many attempts I was successful. After I was done checking the drive, I locked the drive again with the same eeprom.bin, then plugged the drive back into the xbox and power cycled the console. I power cylcled the xbox and i get error 6. is there possibly ANY way i could get this drive working again with this xbox?
  22. Good evening, I'm trying to fix an xbox that I've bought online that states the "Your Xbox requires service" with no error code everytime I try to play a game. Weirdly there is one game that I'm able to play. A crappy demo CD with a few games, and I can only play the FIFA 2005! The xbox was unopened when I bought it and I already managed to debrief a few things, the DVD player is fine, the IDE cables that connect the DVD to the motherboard also seem fine (tested the dvd power connector for continuity on each pin). Since I'm able to use the main dashboard I can also access the hard drive, it lets me erase save's , so it seems that the xbox is able to read and write on the HDD. At this moment I'm not sure what to explore further , nothing too weird on the motherboard too, all caps seem fine. PSU doesn't seem to have any trouble too.. Any ideas? I'm lingering towards something in between the PATA and the MCPX.. but it seems like a longshot. Thanks in advance!
  23. I need help. I cloned my 1.5 tb WD Green HDD to my new Hitachi 3tb Hdd and now when ever I boot it gives me an error 13. I'm using ind-bios .5004 and I tried using the heimdall engineering disc to reinstall the dashboards and repair them, but I still get the same error. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to try next. My console is hardmodded with an alladin xt chip and it ran fine before the cloning on the previous HDD.
  24. Hi all, Hoping to get some help on this one as i'm really stumped. Problem: I'm restoring an Xbox and trying to get a fresh built HDD paired with a motherboard using nulled (1's) key, but still getting E06. Steps I've taken: 1. Built a fresh drive using XBHDM, locked the HDD with all 1's, and verified it boots correctly into a working soft modded xbox with nulled HDD key in the EEPROM (all 1's). 2. Read the EEPROM of the target motherboard using PiPROM, edited the eeprom.bin file to null the HDD key with 1's and written this back to the EEPROM. 3. Read the EEPROM again and verified its indeed now all 1's in the HDD Key. 4. Installed the newly created and locked HDD from step 1 into the target motherboard. 5. Error 06 Other info that may or may not be relevant? * HDD i'm building is an original 8/10?GB Seagate drive, but i've also tried two original WD drives in step #1 and the same issue arises. * Target motherboard revision is a v1.1 Any ideas whats going on here?
  25. I've tried to boot with a newly formatted 2TB SATA HDD, and have been having issues... Cerbios Hybrid 2.3.1 UDMA5: Stays on the Boot Animation. M8Plus Titan & Stock (TSOP): Error 21. XBlastOS: Black screen, jumps back into XeniumOS The chip has XeniumOS 2.3.5. The drive has been formatted with FatXplorer using the Cerbios preset, and is unlocked. The only data on the HDD is the default C:\ contents from the XBOXHDM build of Rocky5's installer along with cerbios.ini and the BootAnims folder. I used CerbiosTool to generate the ini and have set "DashPath1" to "C:\xboxdash.xbe" and "DriveSetup" to 1 (No HDD, Legacy), with everything else being "stock". Does anyone know what could be the problem? UPDATE: Turns out it was an issue with using Rocky5's softmod files on a hardmod. I fixed this by just copying Rocky5's UnleashX build from xbins onto the C:\ partition.
