  1. As the title says, I have a Xbox v1.6 modded with a DuoX2 Hyundai chip that I haven't used for years and now I get no TV-signal. I then remembered I could start it without the chip by starting it with the open button. Then I did get a working TV-signal so my problem seem chip related. One time when I tried to start I think the xbox ring blinked green and red, but now it always look normal green. I am basically a comlete nuub when it comes to electronics but I do have a soldering iron etc including a multimeter so I'm ready to try some CPR. I did clean some goo from the mod chip between the switch and the chips, but can those even leak something? Most of what you see in the image as white is reflection of light and not that worn out from cleaning with a q-tip and isopropanol. I pulled the switch back and forth a few times to clean dust from it and make sure it has a good connection. The chip blinks red once every second but I read that this is normal for this chip when it runs. The thought have crossed me to try to boot it switched the other way just to see what happens, but that is for lower versions of the motherboard I believe and I had never opened the xbox before so it should be in the right position. The motherboard seems fine too me. No leakages and all its capacitors look fine to me. I have the golden clock capacitor which seems to be in good condition. However the PSU Delta D capacitors may be leaking, or are those just some production markings? Looks a bit like some pen mark. The big capacitor have a surface difference on top due to my cleaning. I didn't want to clean it where it seems to have a blue stain before the photo so it is the blue stain I am wondering about. If they are leaking I suppose new capacitors or a new psu could perhaps solve my problems? I read that one thing I could try is to use some flux and resolder the mod chip but since I'm a bit inexperienced I don't want to do it if I don't have to so I don't make a worse mess. But I just came to think of the fact that the entire chip can be tilted in it's socket on the motherboard. I dont know if it is supposed to fit that loose in the socked or if that socket is the problem? I also read about a similar problem where it was recommended to try to reinstall bios in the mod chip by using a separate working chipped xbox and switch the chip just before install, but buying a working chipped xbox kind of defeats the purpose of fixing my old one. I suppose I can't install bios on the chip if I start it from without the chip by using the open button to power on and it would be difficult to install bios without a working TV-signal I guess. Any helpful thoughts on where I should start? Are the PSU capacitors busted so I should start there or should I just get a new mod chip or what would you suggest? Just buying a new chip don't seem that easy either though.
  2. Hello, I am new to Xbox. I recently bought a Xbox v.1.6 and when I opened it I saw a modchip Duo X2 AMD. My problem is as follow: when I turn it on pressing the power button sometimes it boots to a blue screen (Linux Cromwell) and sometimes it boots to to xbox dashboard with a Evo M8 on the top left corner. How to control this boot process? How to know whrn to boot to each of the screens? There is a switch on the modchip and when I turn it tl the other bank it boot to FlashBios 3.0.3. My real problem is that I dont want to boot the blue Cromwell screen. Can somebody help me? Regards
  3. Hello I have a Duox2 lying here. Unfortunately, it cannot be deleted or flashed again. It appears to be an original one. There were also many clones. I have a few of those and they can be flashed via flasher disk or xblast. Unfortunately not this one. I'm at a loss. Maybe one of you has an idea.
  4. I have had a duox2 Hyundai edition installed forever ago in a Xbox 1.6 and pulled out the old fella for some burnout revenge to my dismay and four year old son’s disappointment I am receiving no signal when powered on .chip is flashing red ,eject button solid green however cannot open disk draw ,second bank frags red and green on eject button. normal Xbox works fine and appears to have all saved files from burnt/installed games. I am currently checking all connections to mod chip. Does anyone know if this is a bios issue , chip issue or HDD issue . If this is a bios issue does installing a new bios require formatting the drive and same question if I replace mod chip to a modern chip now available as I can’t find any duox2’s for sale.
  5. Hi there! I'm brand new to this board and looking to do my first mod chip install on a v1 that was given to me a few years ago. Back then I grabbed a DuoX2 but never got around to installing it. Well the time has come, and I've dug out the Xbox and found the mod chip... still sealed in the anti-static bag... but I'm wondering if I should stick with the Duo X2 GS. I'm wondering if it might be better to go with an Aladdin Advance XT Modchip PLUS2 or Open Xenium. Is there a benefit to either one over the Duo? Thanks!
  6. Hello everybody, I have a problem with my old xbox with amd duox2 modchip.. i would be happy if anyone could help.. (sorry my english, i'm not a native speaker) I stopped using this xbox years ago because the DVD tray open and close casually, with no input from me (-> MAIN PROBLEM). Yesterday I decided to fix it: since every weld looked ok but the motherboard was very dusty, I tried to clean it up gently with compressed air and remove welding dirt from motherboard with the help of a cotton stick and alcohol. BEFORE the cleaning: - xbox powered up booting customer bios every time i plug it to the power, I could switch off by pushing the eject button; - xbox powered up with original bios if I switch off (pushing eject button) and then again switch on by pushing the eject button; - the power on/off button (smaller one) never worked as I can remember; - DVD tray open and close casually (and continuosly), with no input from me, with both bios. AFTER the cleaning: - xbox no more power up when I plug it to the power (no blinking led light on the modchip); - xbox powered up with original bios if I switch on by pushing the eject button; - xbox power on/off button (smaller one) still doesn't work; - DVD tray still open and close casually (and continuosly), with no input from me. Since I didn't mod the xbox by myself at the time, I looked some tutorial but I didn't find anyone using my setup. I don't know why I have BT point welded to the front panel.. When the xbox was modded everything worked fine for a while, then I remember I got some problems and a friend did something at the weld on the motherboard.. I can't remember exactly (>15 years ago). I'm not an expert but it seems to me that there is a bad connection somewhere.. Are there anything I can try to find the problem? Can I simply remove/unweld the modchip and get the xbox work like when it was original? THX
  7. I've installed some aladdin chips and wired them by soldering the "BT" point to the ground pin on the Xbox LPC. I figured that would be the same for the Duox2 lite chip, however I found a couple pictures online showing that the "BT" point on a Duox2 Gs chip (Dual Bank) was soldered to pin No. 9 of the LPC which is 3.3v. I just want to be sure that I'm soldering the "BT" to the right point on the LPC in order for it to always be powered on.
  8. Hi. I just got an 1.6 Xbox with a DuoX2 Lite modchip. Can someone tell me how i can identify the bios flashed to the chip? And can i flash any bios to the chip with Hexen 2017? I bought the Xbox 10 yrs ago, so i am wondered if there would be any advantages for updating the bios to a newer one than the one thats on there now?
