There is actually an open-source design being worked on by Harcroft and a few others. I believe it is called the OpenXHD. I can build the ryzee board, but I think this will probably be the first truly open source design to build upon and succeed it. So I am unsure whether to put the time into the Ryzee encoder, or maybe wait for the OpenXHD, which I believe is being designed with Team-Cerbios and ElpisHD in mind.

I have all the parts except the flex cables... since PCBJLC fucked that up colossally. I'll still try it out. :)

I know, Harcroft doing some nice work, this is in his core the same like ryzees board with some nice updates. Like the flex is different, he did alter the board to support the flex from makemhz, so you can swap the makemhz board with one of these. I cant wait till it comes out to do some testing on it.

  2. If you want to get cerbios working, you would need to use dustin his firmware (idk if this can be used with the ryzee board), cerbios with the patches does control the firmware from the hd+. But build your chip, because I think most of the games will work, I bet all 480p/720p/1080i games will work flawless using the bios you want. Where the problems start are the games that only do 576i PAL (there are only 12 pal games that only have 576i support) all others support 480i or 480p. The other games that can be a problem are the 480i only games, but im not so sure about this, because with dustin his HD+ paired with unpatched cerbios colin mcrea rally 3 did work, and this is an 480i only game. The only 480i game that I found not working this way was kung fu chaos.

If you have your board you can also help testing games and plans/hopes are that someone in the scene writes an open source firmware for it so we can get 100% game compatibility with this open source solution.

After some digging i have found that Cerbios probably wont work correctly if you use anything other than component cables with the 1.6 xbox.

Since im using scart RGB that is probably my issue.

This is indeed 100% a bug in cerbios. It's reported to the team so they know the issue. Like you mentioned, the issue only exist on v1.6 hardware.

I do wonder if PrometheOS can control the video upscaling on the early revisions of xboxhdmi and Xbox hd+ to replace the patched m8 bios?!

No it can't. THe video settings in prometheOS are to change the settings in the xbox eeprom. Changing the HD+ settings can be done from an app on the xbox itself. Team cerbios did make one called elpisHD but is not released yet (modzvilleUSA did make a video about it on his YouTube channel)

I ran across this thread from Milenko, the person behind Cerbios

You got it wrong, it's not Milenko that is the head of cerbios, but Milkeno. These are 2 totally different people. :) Thats just been said by Dustin, but he does know nothin. Nobody knows who cerbios is. But I'm sure its definitely not Milenko/Milkeno. His coding is not good enough to code a bios :D.

Been a bit bored as of late and wanted to see how low temps I could get. Microsoft in their infinite wisdom gave the CPU farrrr too much voltage: 1.7V! Nuts!

Well the CPU itself runs perfectly fine at 1.3V (lowest the voltage reg will go without messing with the feedback loop).

    1.0: Remove the 0ohm resistor on R2E4

    1.6: Remove the 2 0ohm resistors on R2E7 & R2E3

The only drawback of doing this, is you'll no longer be able to push the CPU frequency over ~950MHz.

The temperature screenshot is from my 1.6, I'm aware that the 1.6 does not have entirely accurate monitoring, but you can see a clear difference. Both were taken at a ~73F ambient with fan running at 20%.

    Enjoy.

Did you stress test your consoles after this mod, to verify if the xbox runs stable with the lower voltage?

Wasn't there something about games that run natively in 480p have problems?

no, you are confusing it with the 1.6 bug which is also present in the retail bios. What is still a bug in Cerbios is the operation of the RGB SCART connection, which does not work on a 1.6. But this was only a thing in Europe and most did not have that cable but only the composite cable and the composite cable works.

Well, have you seen the dates when that was? Feb. 2022.

And since Cerb has problems with some games why not use a EvoX or iND bios as second bios or even main bios (In case you don't use CCI or a HDD bigger as 2TB) till team Cerbios has fixed the problems?

I also like to flash a hidden EvoX to the TSOP when setting up a xbox with modchip.

FYI: Other scene bioses also have problems with certain games. Actualy cerbios is compatible with the full game library. As you know, you just need to follow the compatibility list, all games are supported as iso except 7. (but all games do play on cerbios). Cerbios is the only known scene bios where all games where tested on and working.

  10. yes like the others said already, if its not for collecting you can convert a retail xbox to a debug kit.

things to keep in mind, if you have a 1.3, 1.4 you need to reconnect the lframe signal to the 3th pin of the lpc, if you have a 1.6 you need to rebuild the complete lpc.

with a 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2 the lframe is already connected to the 3th pin

    upgrade your ram to 128mb

search and download the debug dash online and use cerbios as bios (this is also a debug bios)

and build yourself a superio for kernel debugging: https://github.com/XboxDev/serial-usb-adapter#software
