If you have the ends wrong, Cable Select will no longer work and you have to set the hard drive or IDE-to-SATA adapter as MASTER.

Black to mother board, grey to the DVD Rom which I had a twist 180 as the notch was the wrong way round and blue to the  HDD, that's the only way it would fit.  From left starting with black all the notches are on the left if it's lay flat looking at it. I haven't got my Sata adapter still waiting for delivery but I did just the the IDE upgrade in a old crystal xbox 15 years ago and it worked first time mate.

Hi everyone, my IDE cable upgrade finally come after faffing about trying to get it to fit I get error 09, swapped back to stock IDE boots perfectly.  I've attached a screenshot of the cable I used and people in the reviews say it worked for them but I'm not sure there true as the IDE connectors seam the wrong way round.

There are 83 homebrew game releases available from emuxtras.net's Homebrew ports download section.

Many emulators are also available from a different sections of their downloads area.

[Changing Dashboard UnleashX To EvoX]

I wanted Evox as that's what I used back in the day of x2.6 and x3 Modchips, it was simple and worked like a charm for basic game playing. 

I tried it again a switched back to UnleashX as I was having grief with FTP using Evox. 

I did also try Xbmc4gamers but had no luck setting it up.  There's a prebuilt version on git hub but I just couldn't get my head around it. 

If anybody could help that would be great

For the 128meg upgrade there maybe a member here that will put there hand up. The 1st time I replaced a 80 pin micro it took me 60 minutes the ram upgrade I did the other night 90 minutes including 2 coffee stops 10 SMS and talking hands free for 15 minutes while soldering and board cleaning between each chip.

I got up in the morning and seen this on my bench, The Xblast lite chip is temporary to test each chip as I go then gets removed when it's all done.

This fan is a quick adjustable temperature controlled setup I made and it keeps the CPU/GPU at 47c with the room temp around 25c.

Rocky5's v1.1.7 softmod installer disk mate.  Sussed it, i used the NKPatcher from the apps menu.  Thanks for the info, immaking notes

Just a quick question guys and girls, i would like to swap my dashboard from UnleashX to EvoX, my setup is v1.2 Xbox (Softmod), is it just a simple case of popping in Hexan or Slayers installer disk in installing EvoX.

So i decided to paint my Xbox today,  Used 2 coats of Plastic Priimer followed by 3 coast of Ignition Red.  I thought i had some clear coat but turns out i didnt.  I dont think it's turned out to bad to be honest

Spot on, appreciate that dave. deffo worth spending the extra tenner for double the space.  If you can reccomend a decent ATA133 cable that would be great, also i need to do the thermal paste, it's artic silver 5 if im correct ? but i been thinking as the original past has been on there for 17 years is it best to let the console run for a while before i try and remove the heat sinks as im guessing its gonna be super stuck on there ?

I finally got around to removing the clock cap v1.2 board, though i would completely strip it down as it was half way in bits anyway, and give it a good clean out.  Washed the plastics etc cleaned motherboard, fan, heatsink (Still need to apply new thermal paste) popped her back together after the plastics had dried and to my amasement it works.

The cap was fine to be honest, no sign of any problems at all.  I was quite supprised how clean it was to be honest, just a light bit of dust on the motherboard.

Looks fab, thinking of painting mine.  The plan is to mask off the Jewel and the glossy black bits top, front and sides and spraying it gloss red.  The front panel i was goint to paint too, just mask off the DVD tray and the natural line that follows across the front of the console leaving a nice natural look, well i think so anyway lol.

Hiya, well i managed to sort out the issue using your advice.  It seamed like the update had wiped my HDD, finally managed to get Xbpartitioner to work with a bit of faffing about.  I had to creat a partition with 0 GB (restart box) the create 140 Gb and restart box to get it to work correctly.

So all good thank you for your help,  Gonna take out the Clock Cap today and fit a 80 pin HDD Cable yay !

Guess im only limmited to 5 posts again, dose anybody know how long this goes on for, i will donate when i get paid, but untill then im stuffed lol.

Hi I first tried with the update disk on gitub using buildxiso.bat which made a update disk, burnt it with imgburn at slow speed but it kept failing at 10% (black screen) so I then read some comments and did this which worked and updated my softmod.  See attached picture. The update automatically formated my hard drive and installed everything as I found out when all my games had gone lol.  Thanks for your patience and advice
