  1. You are right, but I did not know you could do that! No matter I think N64 Freak is going to sell me a PAL PSU. When he has got the time of course, but he is willing, a great guy it seems! Cheers to all, and thank you all for the feedback
  2. I was watching some of Mr Mario videos! And now I have my Xbox modded to the latest Sofmod! Tomorrow I will be replacing the HDD My question was mostly about the basics, how does the file structure on the Xbox HDD works, stuff like that. And my latest question was why my 1.6 Xbox it´s not keeping the time and date! The clock capacitor is in good condition physically so I dont understand. Cheers!
  3. So yes guys, that is my question. What's up with my Xbox? It is not keeping the time and date, not only if I unplug it, but only if I turn it off and then on again, it goes back to 2004 Things is, I have a 1.6 version of the Xbox, with Hynix Ram, softmodded. And I looked for any battery and there is no battery, it has a yellow capacitor that it supposed to keep the date and time. And it is in great looking condition, but what's wrong? Why is not keeping the time? Could I fix it? I am leaving a picture of my motherboard. Thanks for any feedback!
  4. So thats the thing, I just got my first original Xbox! I live in Chile and in here having something like this is very niche hehehe. Nevermind, I opened it, cleaned it, changed the thermal paste, replace the IDE cable for a 40 cable and bought a new controller, because it came with the controllers smashed. There is no modchip on it, because when I opened it up, I saw absolutely nothing. It has a 360 looking dashboard called XBMC360, according to the hardware info, it is a v1.6 Xbox, it has an Xcalibur video decoder, CPU runs at 731.55mhz. Detected retail BIOS is: 5838.01 Made in China, year 2005, week 25, line 5. XBMC pre-2.1 (compiled: May 27 2007) Mplayer XBMC-SVN-r8532 (May 25 2007) I am not asking to give a me tutorial on how to install another HDD (which I will as it has a 40GB Maxtor) I just one to know the basics you know? Why so many partitions on the HDD? What is the main software that runs a modded Xbox? What is a skin? That is it! The rest I will try to find on my own, I just want to know the "basics". Thank you guys, I am leaving you some pics, and also a picture of an original "Japanese" controller I got in the mail just today! Like we say in my country: "When lacking bread, cakes are good" (What I love is the cable in the controller, it's transparent lemon green. Cheers to all! Hector aka Nacho el Kid.
  5. Now that you put THAT way, it seems appealing But first I will check, it seems like N64 Freak might sell me the PSU I am looking for! If that doesn't work out, then I will certainly try this mod. Cheers and good luck in everything.
  6. The only way I see this posible is by getting a SFF (small for factor) PSU and stick that inside the Xbox. Doing this seems a bit of a disservice, because it requires having an extrenal PC PSU outside the Xbox and that would be a mess. Or maybe I understood wrong? Thank you Sakis, I apreciate this though, I really do apreciate your time to explain to me how to do this.
  7. Man I would do it gladly! But I haven't found any schematics or tutorials on how to do that! If you know of any, please lead me in the right direction! Good luck in everything and like I said if you have any info or links to tutorials, etc, please share! Cheers!
  8. Ah I understand. Then I will wait a few weeks and if I can't still find anything, I will PM you regarding this trade offer Take care and all the good luck Noobindistress, Hector Hidalgo.
  9. Mmm, I would but it takes too long for that kind of trade. The best is to find someone who sells one of the PSU's I'm looking for. After getting a PAL PSU for my Xbox I would have no problem giving away my PSU for free. Cheers and thanks anyways for your feedback, my regards and all the best luck in everything! Cheers
  10. I have my first original Xbox. Which came to my country with the controllers destroyed, so... I have had time to check the console noise, etc. It is definetely the old HDD the main culprit for the noise! It is not the fan, it is the old HDD's spinning what's causing the noise. I will try to replace the HDD for a new Sata one, that is when my "working" controller arrives, until then I cannot do much, only stare at it. Cheers to all.
  11. Thank you Kaos! Still waiting for my Xbox controller, until then I cannot do nothing on my Xbox, but I am preparing! Cheers.
  12. Hello guys, I am talking to you from the end of the world, I live in the south of Chile, very near the antartic (yes it's cold). So... here is the thing, I recently got an original Xbox, controllers came dead, DVD drive didn't work, well nothing worked really hahahahha Nevermind, I fixed all of those issues, it didn't even came with screws! I bought new screws, a new IDE cable, I also fix the DVD. SO everything is working now! And I am waiting for my original Xbox controller on the mail. But there is one thing I cannot fix, the Power supply. In here we use 220v, but the Xbox I bought is an American Xbox 1.6 version (110v). I did not buy a PAL Xbox because we are NTSC 60hz! (ironic). Thing is, I search the entire Ebay, Amazon, everything, and I could NOT find anywhere to buy a European PSU for the Xbox. So... I come to you guys, you are my last hope in this world, if anyone has or knows someone who has a PAL PSU for the original XBOX, I would thank you forever. These are the models that exist for the 1.6 PAL XBOX: Delta DPSN-96DP-1 or Samsung (Tuscany) PSCD101301B Those are the only two models in existence, if someone could sell one to me, or even better, giveaway, I would be more than happy. No matter, please help me guys, I love this console so much, because I loved the 360 also. Waiting for any feedback, Hector Hidalgo aka Nacho el Kid. I am uploading a picture of one of the PSU's I am looking for (Samsung).
  13. I already found the 2 model names (the only ones) of PAL 220v PSU ever made for the original Xbox 1.6 version: They are: Delta DPSN-96DP-1 or Samsung (Tuscany) PSCD101301B I could not find even ONE seller on Ebay who has them. I am going to open a post to ask someone for it, wether someone could giveaway or sell. Cheers man, and thanks for the feedback!
  14. Yes from what I have managed to inform myself, archive.org is the place to go. Also if you want to Softmod your Xbox you need the first Splinter Cell game to launch the exploit. From there I don't know more, because my Xbox is non functional as my controllers came dead hahahha, but I WILL use this beauty someday! (I am from south america, Xbox staff is hard to find). Cheers!
  15. So yes, that is my question, are there any custom dashboards that look like the original microsoft dashboard? See, I am quite new to the "original Xbox" and I would LOVE to experience something at least similar to the original experience with an Xbox circa 2004. You know, with all the sounds (which I've heard they are creepy) and look of the original. I am yet to use my XBOX as it came with the controllers completely smashed and dead. I live in Chile, so I bought an controller in good condition and it will come here who knows when (internationally). No market for used Xbox things in here. I am also searching for a 220v 1.6 Power supply for the Xbox, just in case, I mention this. Hope to hear from you guys, I did enjoy the 360 A LOT, so I think I am going to love the Xbox! Cheers to all! Hector Hidalgo aka Nacho el Kid
  16. Hello guys, I am from south america, I live near the end of the world! And it is my first time with an XBOX (sounds a bit gay). Thing is, I am suffering with my new original Xbox. It came with two controllers, but, both are completely dead, I opened them, and they are unfixable. No screws on the console, I bought them all, hard drive was not working, I bought a new IDE cable, now is working. The DVD drive was not opening, I fixed it with a needle. AND the only problem I have left with no solution is the power supply, it is 110v, 1.6b, made in 2005. I need a 220v! It has been quite a headache, I got myself a power down convertor, it works, but it sounds like a nuclear plant! "Not good" (Trump voice) So dear guys if you have any deals, or any seller of 220v PSU for the Xbox, be sure to let me know! My most thankful cheers to you all! Cannot wait to play Halo 2 online using Xlink kai with all of you My Sony Wega is ready hehehhhe
