  1. Look for Socket A and Socket 370 motherboards.
  2. If you find a heatsink on an old motherboard, I'm pretty sure it will be held in place with a heatsink clamp. The clamping mechanism is often identical. Do you have any electronics surplus stores or e-waste management locations you could visit?
  3. Yes. Old motherboard northbridge and chipset heatsink are a suitable replacement for stock XBOX GPU heatsinks.
  4. 63/37 is perfectly fine for most work, but personally I go with 60/40 for most jobs.
  5. Did another 128MB RAM upgrade on a Ver 1.0 this afternoon. If vacant RAM pads are already tinned, you do NOT need to add solder....aside from keeping your tip tinned. If the soldering iron seems to be "gripping" the part your soldering, or it's not gliding across the pins, you need to use more flux.

You want to find a guide on how to play games from ISO on your XBOX. The easiest way would be to run with Cerbios and configure the launcher through XBMC4Gamers. Also, you'll be better off upgrading the stock hard drive....
  7. It's a common clamp with older Socket 7 and Socket 370 chipset heatsinks.
  8. GPU heatsinks aren't hard to find replacements for. A lot of older motherboard chipset heatsinks will fit.
  9. What wires? Technically, they're "clones".
  10. The Aladdin's I've bought in the last 3 years from AliExpress are certainly not flashable. But I have 5 Aladdins that I'm planning on flashing custom BIOS on an external USB flasher after Labor Day.
  11. IDE cables for less than $6 I've bought 3 of them.
  12. People haven't had much success with the cheap adapters that are missing MASTER/SELECT pins. Have a look at my thread for more info.
  13. This is very typical of "bad caps". Swap them out and you'll be fine.
  14. Is the extra unpopulated fan header on the motherboard (the spot where 1.0's plugged their GPU fan into) powered? I think those pads are missing on version 1.6, but I think Microsoft left them on the 1.2 to 1.4's.
  15. I prepped a version 1.2 today for TSOP flashing. Everything went well, I flashed Evox M8 BIOS to it and set up the disk with the latest Hexen disk. A little later, I decided to flash Cerbios 2.3.1 to it and I chose UDMA4. This is a stock hard drive, so when I would boot up, it would give me an error 13 code....then boot me into Cerbios Safe Mode. No problem, the TSOP wasn't ruined or anything, so I was able to re-flash it, this time with UDMA2. The things you learn.... I'm just going to put this console on the shelf for now until I'm ready to do the rest of my mods. I plan on using UDMA5 with a cheap IDE-to-SATA adapter that I've used successfully on three other TSOP'ed machines.

    You're burning .ISO's to DVD-R or DVD+R?
  17. I use XBOX 360 and PS3 controllers on my OGX360. I highly recommend it.
  18. A pocket/mini router would cost you less than $40 and you can use it for a lot more things.
  19. Is there a link to anything besides the readme?
