  1. Burnt it @ 8x using imgburn. Also tried to ftp it over and run the default.xbe. The xbox is a version 1.0 that I was trying to TSOP.. Was sucessful bridging R7D3, but lifted a trace at R7R3. Maybe R7D3 being bridged is a problem? Although I was able to upgrade the original softmod with hexen 2017, maybe rocky's is mor picky? thanks
  2. I'm trying to upgrade a already softmodded xbox with rocky5's Build v1.1.6. All I get is blank screen I have tried burning the extras disc to DVD, also I FTP'd the quick upgrade to E:\, and also FTP'd the extras disc atacher (with extras disc iso) folder to E:\apps. Am I doing something wrong?
  3. If I attempt another TSOP I think I will take your advice on the conductive ink. I ended up just leaving the box softmodded... thanks all
  4. My old eyes and lack of soldering skills has caused a problem. Plan was to TSOP a 1.0 Xbox. Top side bridge R7D3 went fine, but on the bottom of the board at R7R3 I burnt off the pad and the trace lifted up (bottom arrow). Can I solder a wire from the lifted trace to either the pad above it if I can get it to stick or the surface mount resistor above that pad (seen in pic)? Xbox is softmodded and still working. Maybe i should just quit while I am ahead lol
  5. thanks..that did the trick. 1 last question,,is it possible to change the splash screen from xbmc4xbox 3.5.3 to the older XBMC spalsh screen? thanks
  6. Well I thought I had everything working. When softmodding I didn't have the audio cables hooked up (just the video).I put everything back together and hooked up the audio cables and I get sound when the xbox first comes on during the flubber, but I have no ambient, navigation, etc.sound in unleashx. Installed xbmc to e:\apps and sound works no problem. What can I do to get sound working in unleashx? thanks
  7. thanks got everything working. Cant beat an old school Xbox! thanks for all the help
  8. Thanks for all the info everyone. I upgraded my softmod to Rocky5 which seems very good, only thing is I dont see an option to change time zones (It always shows me an hour behind) thanks
  9. I was able to hotswap after several attempts during the MS dash bootup. I never could get the drive unlocked by booting with the dvd drive unplugged I am now softmodded and updated softmod with Hexen 2017 and have the eeprom backed up and saved to my PC. However I prefer the layout of the old UnleashX (I'm old and don't like change lol) I have another Xbox that I softmodded years ago with ndure 3.1 and xboxhdm 1.9 I think, where it will boot UnleashX with the small button and boot the MS dash with the DVD eject button, but I don't remember what settings to use in ndure. Which boxes should I check in ndure?
  10. Long story sort. I ordered a replacement 1.6 main board with its matching HDD off of ebay to replace a dead 1 I had. All went well until it was time to softmod. When I try to copy an audio track to the HDD it says "Unable to create new soundtrack. You have reached the maximum 100 soundtracks" I don't see any saved sound track so I don't see how I am over any limits. Is there any way around this? Any other way of hot swap unlocking the HDD. I have only used the hot swap method in the past and don't have any of the games with the exploits like 007 or Splinter Cell and I also don't have a xbox to USB adapter so at this time hot swapping is my only option. thanks
  11. Thanks for this detailed guide. After trying a $7 ebay component cable which to me didn't look all that bad visually, but had lots of static in the audio I bought a xbox360 cable and did the mod using the connector from an old cheap composite cable I had laying around. The cable works good, but I am still getting static in the audio. It's not nearly as bad and it only happens on certain screens in UnleashX. It is most notable when the screen saver comes on in UleashX and in the system settings menu screen. No issues in XBMC or when playing games. Not sure if I did something wrong, or maybe using the connector from the cheapo composite cable is the culprit.or possibly the TV itself (32" philips LCD that I've repaired a couple of times). thanks
