  1. Meh, PCB design isn't my thing but I think this might work for top layer and then have the data pins (both sets of green and white) for the controller ports on the bottom layer.

Maybe use the other grounds for the led negative leads.

The controller breakaway connectors would solder to the board either side, not sure that's a good idea really

  2. Almost done, thinking about creating a PCB to attach the 4 controller ports, 3 x 3mm LED's and a power button.

I've never created PCB's before so this will be difficult. I need to know what connectors are used for the power eject and controller ports, could someone tell me?

Edit: apparently they are PHDR-10VS for the power/eject and PHDR-12VS for the controller ports.

  3. I have one of your xenium chips in my personal xbox and it's great. I'm not in Oz but also more than happy to test anything for you. Probably not feasible though as I'm in the UK.

I've followed your work on emuXtras for a long time (I'm ShinGoutetsu on there too), you do great work!

I was wondering about that... Can you make them yourself 3d printed in smaller batches? Or does that only go so far?... I mean, is that really the only way to get a decent case fabricated and molded?

We'll see, there's the option of 3d printing one and using that to make my own clay mold but I don't have the workspace to do that.

I could try a crowd fund but I doubt it would get the required numbers.

Or I could go to an existing aftermarket case manufacturer and see if they want to take it on.

I'll try 3d printing one anyway and go from there.

@ShinGoutetsu mold costs are $15k-$30k from what im hearing. Wanna go down on it?

More than that for something of this size, approx £50,000 so I'm thinking the ROI wouldn't make it worth doing. I mean how many people actually want a replacement case?

I'd need to sell thousands just to break even.

That's not too bad then. I wonder if something like the X3CP is in MakeMhz's plans somewhere down the line.  Not that currently I will buy a Stellar due to no Cerbios hdd/CCI support.

I believe MakeMHz has said that there is a front panel add on coming but I'm not sure if its a complete faceplate replacement or something more like a pro switch

Well, they need the circuitry... So far this is the casing

That's coming, although not from me. This was a sort of commission job, for a well known scene guy. He's doing that side of it :)

I found it on some European console parts site, likely old stock that they never sold. Cant rememeber the name of the site im afraid.

As I said previously you will be better of with a Xerc, MUCH easier to install and does the same job. Plus they are still available on eBay :)

Was probably shop01media. They had some a few years back but don't have any now by the look of it.

I have a few xerc2 chips left, I always install them in my xboxs.

  9. So as you may know i've already designed 2 different xbox mini cases and I'm also working on a full replacement case.

This design sits in between these two, it loses the DVD rom and uses a 2.5" HDD/SSD instead of the full sized HDD. It also keeps the original PSU.

The lid incorporates ducting to guide air over the heatsinks and also holds the HDD/SSD.

Sttill a work in progress but heres a quick look so far:

It's okay. Maybe the case could be used for raspberry pi console devices? Always wanted to make my own gaming console.

well the cut outs are specifically designed for an xbox mainboard, you would need to change quite a lot for a Pi, including internal mounting points. You may as well design your own case that suits your exact needs to be honest
