I was dumb and forgot that I could have just packed the .iso into a .rar. I've now edited the OGXbox download to do just that though.

What IP address does your dashboard show?  Make sure you are connecting to the correct IP address.
What FTP client are you using?  How connecting?
Filezilla's Quick Connect boxes may not work as some updated releases required a secure login which the Xbox does NOT support - only plain FTP (insecure login) - sending a cleartext user id and password.
    UserID/Password combo xbox/xbox.

I'm using the ip from the dashboard ip 192.168.0.2 static using a crossover cable before tsop could ftp, had problems but when I enabled auto-detect it started working. Now can't ftp refused by the server however, with ping there's no lost of communication, can't find the problem here

  2. Dear All,

As you know, the stock fan of original Xbox is quite loud, and given the age about 15 to 16 years I decided to upgrade/replace the fan, read some forums and some suggest the Nexus 70mm Real Silence fan, which has an airflow of 21.1 CFM, but since I'm from Europe this fan is not available almost in no place, owing probably to being an older fan design, looked for alternatives, and some suggested a Noctua 80mm which we need to butch the HDD plastic bay to fit on the box, but there's also a 60mm model, which fits excellently which is NF-A6x25 FLX. that address an airflow of 29,2 CFM which is better than the first solution Nexus 70 mm.

Alright connected the fan with the 4 anti vibration rubbers and this is the final result.

Still haven't replace the thermal paste, that's going to be my next project, really now I have a quiet XBOX on my hands

  3. Already tsop, really my advice is to put this work on someone experienced flashed m8+ bios, for a one terabyte HDD which size should I adress for F and G, can I put everything on a F partition?

Don't know if this is normal but I have some glitch on Evo logo?

  4. Dear All,

On my 1.4 still soft modded Xbox, I have some issues with screen stretching, I'm using component cables to connect to my tv and enable HD output, and on UnleashedX I have adjusted the screen to fit the edges of my TV, but when I run Homebrew Games the adjustment I have done to UnleashedX Dashboard doesn't apply, all games are zoomed in, making some of the screen not displaying, tried changing settings  on my TV changing perspective from 16:9 to 4:3, doesn't work, still zoomed in, is there a normal issue? How can I fix this?

    Thanks

  5. Gonna ask someone who has vast experience on soldering to do this to me, or else get a conductive ink.

Really people don't release how good this console is, when I see it on sale on major game shops is always collecting dust, as an underrated system, and people don't know his power to emulate a true arcade machine and dozens of game systems, you can get most of that with the Pandora system that costs three to four times more, or a raspberry pi 3, with all extras will surely reach almost the same price as a Pandora, but none of them gives you a dedicated HDD and the ability to play dozens of emulators and a  list of more 800 original games made for this system, I would say this is a heck of a console.

Really comes down to alternatives for soldering. Many people don't want to do it or can't trust themselves, I botched many solder jobs which ruined my confidence with it until I soldered in a chip and got it working properly.

I have seen conductive pens used successfully. Perhaps the jankiest/most creative way I've seen has been stripping some wire, cutting a small bit of copper, placing it on top of the two points to bridge, and then taping it on top of them. It was admitted to be a very temporary solution, but hey, it works without having to touch a soldering iron!

    MrMario2011,

Already thought of cutting small fine solder over both points perhaps easier solution is yours with a stripped wire or a paper clip, cover it with black tape, run the app "BiosChecker 5.0" to see if detects the TSOP chip,  I have run the app and can't detect nothing it says "Modchiped /Unknow"  so the points are not bridged yet and on successful detection,  flash new bios, no risk of damaging nothing, really only thing that can happen is protection being active, but no warm to the motherboard.

  7. Forlon Pengium.

Sorry for my mistake, I was meant to say component not composite, so when making new HDD is better to choose new PAL HDD and afterwards run that app to switch to NTSC, there isn't any advantage or recommendation to make an NTSC HDD in the first place?

  8. Dear users,

I'm about to tsop a 1.4 Xbox PAL, already own a composite cable, however is very well know that Xbox only display HD options on NTSC, after tsop I'm going to upgrade my HDD through latest hexen 2018, but to make HD options available should I install new NTSC HDD or PAL? I read of a app that changes that on the system what is the best solution for a brand new system?

    Thanks

  9. Regarding ind- bios it offers some advantages over other bios because of buttons combination to go back to dashboard and powering off the console, but does it inject a config file to the HDD? I read injecting that config file on the bios itself can brick the console. On evox m8 bios there's no way to go back to dashboard when booting a game?

Another issue my Xbox is a PAL one, but enabling HD modes is only available on NTSC consoles I'm going to upgrade my HDD for one tb, on hexen DVD should I choose create a NTSC HDD instead of PAL to have those HD options available? Will I have issues with the TV later on, I'm using component cables?

    Thanks

  10. Forlon Penguim,

The seller has already removed the clock capacitor as per image, and you're probably right it must be indeed 1.4, alright problem solved with the bios size.

Regarding to connection to TV, already own a component video cable, best way to connect it probably is getting an external component to HDMI adapter, at least it upscales the video to 1080p something that doesn't work well on those out of the box hdmi converters.

  11. Received today my Xbox it come on prestige condition, still haven't connected to my TV but on the button manufacturer date is 2003-09-28, 3031752 34005 serial number I guess it's a very high change being a 1.2 model, alright do those hdmi adapters work well on this console, because newer TVs are harder to connect to these old connectors like composite and scart.

No special software. Anything that can burn an ISO disc image.  Windows 10 builtin ISO burning, ImgBurn, Nero, etc.

    Use DVD-R media.

Already managed to burn on DVD-R media, weird, getting in touch to these tools (DVD, IDE 80 Pin, etc) is getting harder and harder and picking up a PC with a DVD burner , only at office and an older tower pc sitting on the wild.

  13. Unfortunately I only own Verbatim DVD+R, back on the days I had other console it was the best money could buy for the laser health and error free reading, also burned on the lowest possible speed, both this updated Hexen 2018 and 2017.

After burning the, Iput the dvd on the reader no file appeared I guess it must have a special partition on it.

Lucky to have at home a spare 1 TB 2,5 HDD taken from a Laptop which was upgraded to a SSD, brand new WD blue, I guess these ones are the most compatible with OG XBOX.

  14. Forlon,

I'm beginning to give you reason that you probably right, It probably isn't a 1.1 model, these photos are from the seller I have order my console, and looking at pictures of some 1.2 models and the picture I have, it reassembles more 1.2 than a 1.1 when looking at those bottom capacitors on the 1.1 they are on a row, these overlap with other, better for me since I won't have the issue of the 256kb but is for sure a Windbond TSOP because of the W that pops-out on the chip even though is blurred, the 1.2 is only 256kbytes right?

But which is the best bios? People talk wonders on Evox M8+, of course I want to upgrade to a SATA HDD, this bios will give me full compatibilty?

    Thanks
