Instead of the clock cap a wire is used temporary. Here on the forum and also on Reddit some people use this method. WIthout the Xbox wouldn`t turn on. Will try to make a photo.
I have read about people just adding a link and the Xbox will think it's got a flat capacitor and start up, I have tested that and it works but it not some thing I was comfortable leaving like that.
I saw a comment from a long term Xbox repairer about a year ago and he fitted a LED in place of the capacitor in a 1.6 and that Xbox has been in use for years constantly, sort of like a standby light

Here is a pic of a clock cap out of a 1.6 and it's started to leak just like the older version in the 1.0-1.4

On IndBios, og xbox 1.4 never gets pass 53 degrees on Cerbios, it reatches 60 degrees, also fans ran slower and quieter, with same fan setting than Indbios, 30%
Have you set the fan speed to 30 in the cerbios.ini file?

Also is there a controller combination to shut down the console as Indbios?
Yes there is
On the 2.3.1 you set the button combination with a configuration program that sets it in the bios file
Try Left trigger, Right trigger, Dpad up, Back
; A = 0, B = 1, X = 2, Y = 3, BLACK = 4, WHITE = 5, LEFT_TRIGGER = 6, RIGHT_TRIGGER = 7
; DPAD_UP = 8, DPAD_DOWN = 9, DPAD_LEFT = A, DPAD_RIGHT = B, START = C, BACK = D, LEFT_THUMB = E, RIGHT_THUMB = F; IGR Dash Combo, Resets back to dashboard, If ISO is mounted then keep it mounted as
IGRDash = 67CD; IGR Game Combo, Resets the current loaded game
IGRGame = 467C; IGR Full Combo, Full system reset
IGRFull = 467D; IGR Shutdown Combo, Full system shutdown
IGRShutdown = 678DCheers

Just run WDidle 3 and that disables the power save then you basically have a WD blue

Hi All,
Looking for some advise. Have an original xbox (1.4) modded with Open Xenium & XBOXHD. After doing some cable tidying I had the xbox running, and without thinking put the top case back on. The system turned off, and when I press the power button there is now no lights on the front of the console. The only lights present are solid red on the Open Xenium & slow flashing blue on the XBOXHD board.
First thoughts were that I blew a fuse, but having lights on the mods would suggest that there is power to the motherboard. Any suggestions or have I f*cked it?
Best to upload some good pics of the inside to a file share site and add the links here..

I have already tried this new Cerbios, once thing I notice, fan runs slower than before, also owing to that, my CPU temps have raised considerably, even with both settings to 30% in fan speed, I notice a lot less noise on Cerbios, and higher cpu temps
How high a temp are you talking and what version of board and dash
My 1.6 with a Evox dash reports 64c 30 seconds from power on at room temp and it will still be 64c 2 days later.

But that's what I'm asking: if it runs with either 64mb or 128 then what's the point?
Oh, for the texture upgrades. Hope I can find THOSE...
Generally is only the emulators and dash boards that benefits from the extra ram.

I never managed to boot Forza under Ind Bios, hence my reason for wanting to change, also my system has 128 ram, does it has to do with that?
Also another game which never booted ¨Sensible Soccer 2006¨
I have tested this game on my Xbox using the cerbios and xbmc4gamers as the dash board and it loads 100% ok
Maybe it's time to use a new dash board that will automatically run the game in Pal or NTSC-j if needed.

Okay, so NO bios truly supports 128mb? Or no software? Then how do the chihiro games run? I've been so emotionally bitch slapped, I can't even fall asleep... This cannot be true...
Cerbios and patched Ind 5003 both support 128meg ram
most games don't support the extra ram unless you patch each game, chihiro will use all available ram.

The heat sinks have been removed and pasted. The old thermal compound might have been fine cooling wise, but it generated lots of dry, hot air, which I found to be an irritant. A friend of mine who was big into Xbox says to stick with the stock heat sinks and removing the DVD + mount, + HDD mount will improve cooling.
So you mate is a fluid engineer? (air is classed as a fluid)
He is correct about the stock heat sinks and even the stock fan works well when clean. But the HDD and DVD trays form part of the ducting for the cooling and running the Xbox with out them it will add around 15 to 20c on the CPU temps
I use a 3D printed shroud when testing the was designed by a member here to keep the temps down

Okay now I'm confused. What do you mean? Shouldn't some xbes be patched to allow for 128mb usage?... XBMC being one of them?
When using cerbios on a version 1.1 when I check the info page is reports 97meg free and the same Xbox with Stella I get 33meg free
With the Stella chip
With Cerbios

If they are in poor shape I sand and paint them
I have been repairing electronics for 40 plus years and have seen all sorts of erratic behaver from poor grounding and missing shields
I get annoyed when people say M$ put the shield there just because of FCC regulations.

yeah man. i know 0 about soldering stuff and knowing me even with a tutorial video id still mess it up some how
If the board is a 1.0 to 1.4 then you can use conductive paint instead of solder to link the two write enable points.
The it a thread here that has the files you need to re-flash the onboard bios with out preforming a softmod 1st then once you have successfully re-flashed the on board bios then you can use Fatxplorer V3.0 beta to format and install the files needed to drop the new drive in to the Xbox and it will boot.
As an example it takes around 3 to 4 days to fill a 2tb drive with games via FTP and well under a day to do the same with Fatxploer V3.0 Beta
Here is a tutorial on using Fatxplorer

Please don't softmod your Xbox... If you don't have to. Only if you must. Chipping is so much more flexible and easier to deal with. Softmodding comes with a lot of problems that wouldn't exist if you had a chip.
Just install the chip, put in the HDD put the installer disc in the drive, and you're DONE. No swapping anything or stupid bullcrap.
I have the same feeling about soft modded
It's a onboard bios re-flash or mod chip.

I have also found out that xbmc4gamers will not use the full 128meg ram and apparently that will get fixed soon with yet another update!

I was going to suggest eject, yes.
I had that happen when I didn't have the cerbios.ini file on the HDD/SSD C drive as I think it defaults to "Drive setup=0"

Did you power on with the Eject button or there is no bootable drive present try setting no DVD in the cerbios.ini
; Drive Setup
; 0 = HDD & DVD, 1 = HDD & No DVD (Legacy Mode), 2 = HDD & No DVD (Modern Mode), 3 = Dual HDD
DriveSetup = 1Cheers

This is how is set the boot order in Cerbios.ini
; Dash paths (always falls back to \Device\Harddisk0\Partition2\xboxdash.xbe)
DashPath1 = \Device\Harddisk0\Partition1\xbmc4gamers\default.xbe
DashPath2 = \Device\Harddisk0\Partition2\evoxdash.xbe
DashPath3 = \Device\Harddisk0\Partition2\avalaunch.xbeCheers

I don't even honestly know what BT is... Held low? What about the XBlast? I'm assuming the CPLD has something to do with this? Why was it fragging when connected?
I tested my Aladdin Xblast chip and powering on with the power button with the BT held low (ground) to boots to the nominated bios file and with the BT not connected it loads Xblast menu
The term BT is probably short for button

Yes my system has Startech adapter, it's more expensive but better quality, also I noticed Cerbios.ini you have to manually insert the path to your dashboard, I use xbmc4gamers, but is on drive letter D I guess it must be Partition3, since Partition2 is for C drive?
Partition 1 = E drive
Partition 2 = C drive
Partition 6 = F drive
Partition 7 = G drive
D drive is the DVD drive
Normally you have xbmc4gamers on E drive

On a stock Aladdin chip if the power switches on with the BT held low it boots with the chip active
The X3 chip has connections to the power and eject buttons to determine what happens
According to wiki The Lframe This active-low signal indicates the beginning of an LPC bus transaction. Driven by the host only.
I suspect that when you power on with the eject button there is some data on the LPC port that the chip sees and knows that's a eject button.

Have you tested a different bios (Ind 5004) on one of the other banks?
Did you configure the bios with Cerbios tool so the bios is looking at the correct location for the dashboard?
It's the MakeMhz OpenXenium chip refusing to work with Cerbios HaHa
