    Good evening,

excuse me. I would like to buy the hdmi n64 freak, but are the games that are in 240p, like arcade games (massive ninja for example) will pass on the HDMI?

    Thank you

I have CoinOPS 8  and it seems to work fine with N64's HDMI  mod on a ver 1.1. I started some random games and all seemed to work fine including the demo that auto starts.

    Hello,

Does anyone know if Chimp will properly display with this mod? I have read that the Chimp program requires a composite output, and will not even work with component. Does this same issue apply with the internal HDMI? Thanks!

I tried Chimp on a version 1.1 with 1 of N64's HDMI mods and No it seems to not work.

    That's another option. :)

Now that I've softmodded a few systems, I always think of ways to repair a softmodded Xbox instead of installing a modchip.  Although my main console has a modchip installed, not a softmod. 😃

To be honest I have never done a softmod.  I do have a OEM drive here that I unlocked with a softmod on it with the intention to have a look at it one day,.

I have found flashing the TSOP or fitting a chip so easy is childs play thats why it's my preferance,  Been working with electronics for 40+ years.

I see at least 33% of the help requests are my softmod  this and that more fuel for the anti softmod for me.

  4. I have found that a IDE/PATA (40 way plug) drive thats 7200rpm with 64mb cache is about 2 seconds quicker to boot than a 7200rpm 64meg cache SATA drive. I also have noticed that one of the xbox's that has a 500gig 7200 PATA drive with no cache has a  studdering sound and video on CoinOPS 8 on demo only but the games play fine where the drives with Cache don't suffer the same.

  5. Me Personally dislike the IND-BIOS I found it slow to boot.

I use the M8plus bios thats customised to remove the Flubber,Trade mark,Splash logo. I set the fan speed to 35% ,Green power led color and Partition 6 up to 137gb and Partition 7 takes the rest.

I will proberly get roasted for using a older BIOS but if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Reallistcally when was the last new OgXbox BIOS compiled as the IND BIOS is not that much newer.

  6. I have tried using Sata to Pata/Ide adaptors and have found that some will work in 1 Xbox and not the next meaning I can put it in a version 1.1 box and it wont work then put the same one in a differant version 1.1 box and it works but all seem to work in a pc. Go figure!

Thats why last time I got some Sata to Ide/Pata adapters I got several even try differant 80 way IDE/PATA cables can make the differance.

While your tring to get the softmod working order 2 couple of Aladdin mod chips they come flashed with a version 1.6 bios then next time you want to upgrade the hard disk it's plug in new drive load SlaYer or Hexen or what ever install disk you like then your off and racing with a nice clean install.

It seem 1/3 or more of the help requests are I can't get the soft mod working.

I got asked years ago to soft mod a Xbox because they did not want the box opened I told them go away do it yourself a month later their back saying please chip it.

    Cheers

  7. 5 volt on the D0 wire with chip disconected ??

When I tested the 1st box that was a version 1.1 I can't put my hands on a 1.4 box just yet but a version 1.6 D0 tested 3.3 volt on the D0 wire.

If I get a chance later today I will have a look for a ver 1.4 in the stack of boxes and test the D0 wire.

You now have to think how much time you want to spend on it.

I f it was a customers by now I would Flash the TSOP slip in a new drive, load a dash of there choice and give it back.

If it was mine i would put it aside for a couple of days like I did witha version 1.6 I was fitting a chip to and it would not boot of the chip 2 days later I looked at it and found I had mucked up the LPC rebuild.

  8. That looks ok

If you test the D0 wire on the mod chip while it's not pluged on the board so the blue wire on the D0 point on the mod chip you should get a 1.8 volt spike on power up well I do with my fluke 87V in Hires mode..

Also with the chip is not pluged in do you get the Flubber boot screen?

After looking at the 1st pic I would clean around where the clock was and look for damage there.

  9. D0 is ment to read 0 volt with the chip enabled

    BT is now reading correct.

Resolder all the pins on the conector and the main board

Then clean the whole chip with isoproyl or metho and a tooth brush  dry with a heat gun on llow temp or a hair drier.

is the red light on or flashing?

  10. You could test the lcd assembly with heat and cold.

Try using freeze spray when it's not working corectly spray it around th edge and then across the pcb on the back

If it sudenly fixes it you have confermed it's the lcd assembly.

If it comes good with cold on the pcb it could be Dry Solder joints,

If it comes good with cold around the edge then disasemble the assembly clean all the conections and reasemble.

both mine are now grafted into faceplates, and opeing them up is nearly impossible now

Because the engineer that designed it doesn't have to repair it because nothing the engineer desigened ever fails.

  11. Hi danbrad

I  2nd what Hector is saying  if you realy want to use the Aliexpress units buy 2 or 3 each from a couple of differant sellers and you will proberly find 50% will work in a Xbox, also don't forget you will need a 80 way IDE/Pata cable.

If your looking at 500gig drives there are heaps for sale in china NEW? or 2nd hand on EvilBay that are PATA/IDE (40pin connector) I have seen some 750gig PATA drives from China as well.

    Cheers

  12. Green logo with the sheild is a 1.6 bios but boot your flash disk on that one.

Then load up the 512kb bios you want to flash to the other bank and when your just about to commit to the flash flick the switch  the other bank  then commit to the flashing the new BIOS.

  13. Hello Bendoggie117

There all differant types of games computers you copy the roms(the files for each game) for the appropriate games machine in to the folder called roms.

There not pre loded you have to find and copy the roms your self.

eg: A commdore 64 game rom would go in the c64 rom directory. then load the c64 emulator from the main menu anfd from there you can run the came in the rom folder

As an example CoinOPS 8 Massive has well over 4000 games listed there all old school types Frogger,1942,Space invaders,ECT ECT.

    CoinOPS 8 Massive is 85gig with 33000 + Files in 1350 folders

So if you not going to use them you can remove them if space is a problem

    I hope that makes sense.

    Cheers
