They are for sale on a German classifieds site but I can't create an account on the site, even when I use a VPN set to Germany to try and contact the seller or even buy some https://www.kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/xbox-classic-1-generation-electron-shepherd-hdmi-pcbs-1-70-set/2946619500-279-318 Maybe someone here can get hold of the seller.. The common dominator is Hexen crap On the 1.4 link the D0 point from the mother board to ground ( one of the screw holes ) and on the Duo X2 modchip link the BT to 3.3 volt on the LPC port. Like this Not you need to fit another mod chip but don't worry about the D0 from the mod chip. Boot the Xbox from the working modchip and load Xblast OS Select the bios file you plan on using ( I use the Cerbios as it works on all versions ) Now without turning off the Xbox unplug the working chip and carefully plug the Duo X2 chip on the board and flash away. When it's finished then you can boot the Xbox from your freshly flashed modchip and do the same but this time all you need to do is flip the bios switch on the modchip to flash the other bank. I use a 64meg USB drive I have also used a Sony PSP in USB mode and a old digital camera basically any USB that's old and USB1 That's how I would quickly determine if the laser was faulty in-car entertainment systems and in 90% of the time the car was full of burned DVD's and or dirty or scratched DVD disk's Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

What version board have you got? If it's a 1.0 to 1.4 then use EndGame to re-flash the on board bios chip with Cerbios then use FatXplorer to build a new large HDD. No DVD drive needed an the only soldering is 2 links on the mother board. 50% of the builds I do don't have a working DVD drive as a 2tb drive holds 99% of games and emulators Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

Have you tried to load a Audio CD, If that doesn't load then you have a PCB issue and if it loads then the Laser is shot. Make sure the 40 pin connector doesn't have bent pins. Failing that fit a mod chip and scrap the DVD drive all together. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
-
I am guessing you mean the links next to the 40 pin connector, Check you have put the link on the correct 2 pins . The link sets master and slave or cable select for the HDD and if you have it in the wrong location the drive will report to the mother board it's a slave drive ( D drive ) As for why the 2tb drive didn't work my bet the Xbox is soft modded, The easy fix fit a mod chip then rebuild the 2tb with Fatxplorer and drop that in your now hard modded Xbox.. If you test the two light blue and two purple spots with a ohm meter it should test very close to 0 ohms I have added links onthe top of the board in the past and that works What your looking for is the dark spots like in this photo that can be any ware along the front of the mother board Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

Would using this ATX PSU cause any issues?
SS_Dave replied to ConsoleTechUS's topic in Lighting & Electrical Mods
The 1.6 board uses a 5 volt standby supply but you still need to invert the power on signal. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing. -

SS_Dave replied to ConsoleTechUS's topic in Lighting & Electrical Mods
Should be fine. I have used a old 500 watt supply for testing 1.0 to 1.4 board's that I modded the 5volt stand by to 3.3 volt and used a small switching transistor to invert the power on command from the Xbox then I repinned the 20 pin connector to plug directly to the Xbox, I also made a adaptor to go from the 20 pin to the single row 12 pin. The only reason that mod chips where made to be deactivated was for Xbox live because is you tried to log on the Xbox live with a modded Xbox the serial number was permanently banned. By making the chip always active you don't need to lock the HDD to the Xbox anymore. If you use a install disk you can easily install any dash you like ( most popular dash is XBMC for gamers ) and make that the default dash. I recommend you have a read of this thread. I personally have not used a install disk in years as you can build a new hard drive on a PC that will work in a Xbox, Plus with all the Xbox DVD drives starting to fail or not reading burnt DVD's it's easier to use a PC and not a DVD. The last few Xbox builds I have done the DVD was not even connected as with 99% of games and Arcade emulators on a 2tb HDD you don't need a DVD drive. I would also recommend you update the BIOS file on the mod chip to Cerbios as it offers more control and you can get fsaster data transfer sppeds from the HDD to the Mother board when useing agood HDD/SSD and a 80wire IDE cable. Some more reading I suggest you have a read and then come back and ask questions before you change anything. Yes it is a 1.4 board and yes you should remove the clock cap ( red circle). I would also make the mod chip always active by removing the 2 orange wires and link the BT on the mod chip to ground ( yellow line) and it will also enable the chip to be re-flashed with a newer bios file. This way you can you can unlock the HDD and it's easy to fit a larger hard drive by using a PC and Fatxplorer to make a new HDD/SSD. I would also remove the fan from the GPU and clean the heat sink with a brush and also clean the fan or replace with a new fan if possible. The better option is obtain a 1.1 to 1.6 GPU heat sink and use that. While your cleaning things give the CPU heat sink a good clean with a brush. I clean the fan blades with a AC spray cleaner. Don't bother changing the thermal paste as I and many others have tested before and after readings and there is no difference and in my tests the biggest difference was cleaning the heatsink and fan.. People that clam a big drop in temps are usually running the fan at full speed Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

There is defantyl trace damage from the leading clock cap, this will explain why the power button and the Xbox randomly shuts down. Inside the red box and towards the rear of the board on the right, All the dark sports are the damaged spots. You can fix it by linking the 2light blue and 2 purple spots Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

You are best to post some pics of both sides of the main board and the power supply The clock cap will have leaked and the electrolyte is corrosive when it come in contact with copper traces that have power on them, The 1st traces that get damaged are the traces for the Power button and then the Eject button. The power supply could have failed connections at the 2 pin mains connector, The Hard drive is probably the clicking sound and could stop working at any time, The DVD drive will defiantly need the small rubber belt at the front under the tray replacing, There is also a good chance the GPU/CPU filter caps and the 5volt supply filter caps will need replacing as well. Best to start with some photos and then upload to a picture site and add the links here.. I use https://postlmg.cc/ and it free.. Do you need a working disc drive to TSOP flash your Xbox
SS_Dave replied to XboxLuver's topic in TSOP Flashing
You can use a Xblast version of EngGame that will allow you to re-flash the onboard bios chip via your home network. All you need is a Xbox memory card or a small USB and an adaptor to have the EndGame files on it. Xbox v1.1 issue with ram chip 3
SS_Dave replied to Andrew smith's topic in Rare and Uncommon Xbox Hardware
The same resistor banks are the cause of some of the DVD drive failures. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing. -
Xbox v1.1 issue with ram chip 3
SS_Dave replied to Andrew smith's topic in Rare and Uncommon Xbox Hardware
You might have a faulty resistor bank RP5xx RP6xx that are around chip 3 There is also chance it's one of the other chips that's causing the issue and removing chip 3 is enough to let it boot back to 64meg, Yoy might find removing chip 2 of the 4 might give the same result. The fan 12 volt is the same as the 12 volt fot the hard drive and DVD drive. The outer two pins ( 1 and 3 ) are linked and get grounded via transistor Q3N1 on the bottom of the board, at say 25% fan speed it's only partial ground and at 100% fan speed it's full ground. I have never seen that part fail but that's not to say it cant. Yep Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
-
On the 3 pin plug for the fan pin 2( Center pin ) is 12 volt and pin 1 and 3 ( the 2 outer pins) are negative, The fan speed is controlled via the negative pins. In my view the fluid engineers that designed the cooling system for the Xbox did a assume job and in my testing there is no need to replace the OEM thermal pads/paste unless you need to remove the heat sink for some other reason. I have found cleaning the OEM fan and the heatsinks gets just as good results and in some cases better than a aftermarket fan. What happens if you reconnect the original fan? Good to here I have never soft modded a Xbox. The closest I have got to soft modding is to launch a BIOS flash program from a game save Way Back when I used to get a heap of Xbox's here to mod because of a failed soft mod, Plus I used to get people asking me to just soft mod and not hard mod so their parents didn't know the Xbox was modded. After I showed them my Xbox booting with a BIOS re-flash and booting to the stock dash but able to load a backup copy of a game I got the job of hard modding. The 1st BIOS re-flash I did was done using a game save to launch Linux so you could flash via telnet from a PC. What happens if you power on the Xbox without any mod chip connected? The D0 point on the mod chip is not important as long as the D0 point on the Mother Board is grounded Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing

What happens if power on with a long press of the eject button with no drives connected do you get the open xenium menu? Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing
-
No. As a mod chip over rides the onboard BIOS Your using a Open Xenium chip? Is the D0 point on the Xbox connected to the mod chip or to ground? Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing

I would load Xblast and check the video setting and make sure the 480 and 720 is enabled. It sounds like only 1080 is enabled Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

What AV cable are you using, Component ( RGB ) or composite (Yellow) Load Xbast and check the video settings .... Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
