That's what I've been wondering. I'm going to find out when I make copper heat sinks...eventually.

I got a fairly thick stainless steel bread pan I'm going to melt copper in. Saw the 'loaf' in half and cold-work the cubes into shape, etc, etc. If they lower the temperatures even 5C I'd say it's worth the time.

im not even sure if your joking or serious lol..

When you put in an after market 80mm you have to do a couple of things to make it fit, here’s a good video on that:

Also, some people have been known to put fans on the CPU/GPU like the Iceberq 4 Pro. They are a couple of other fans that fit as well, but those are the best one, only problem is finding them, and when you do, they’ll usually cost about $40USD each.

but does it improve anything? or would it hardly be noticeable . thats what i wonder

  2. Hello

I've seen people online who have upgraded the 72mm fan with a 80mm fan, mainly to keep it running silently.
But does it keep the xbox cooler also? i have noticed some stuttering in some games, i already replaced the cooling paste.
i have already thought that it probably is because of hardware limitations and that the games run as they were intended but it doesn't hurt to try and improve the cooling so that it surely isnt a heat problem.

and is it possible to improve the heatsink? i have swapped my v1.2 with a V1.0, is the v1.2 "passive" heatsink better? is there a possibility to replace the cpu cooler with an aftermarket cooler?

    thanks

  3. So i sort of have an idea that might or might not work. Since the size of USB drives are becoming bigger and bigger, wouldn't it be a good idea to use a USB drive as hard drive on Hardmodded/tsopped consoles?
If you use an IDE2USB converter and use a USB3 extension cord to have an external USB port, you could easily plug in a stick. ofcourse i have no clue how and if the xbox could handle this but if it can, you could read your usb3 drive on a pc and easily add emulators etc on the stick using something like fatxplorer and have multiple "hard drives" that are easily swapped.

    Thoughts?

  4. hmm everyone seems to have these black grounding wires, my 360 cable didn't have that but had silver shielding around the cable, i just soldered my grounds to that and it works perfectly. also you did it way better than me :D. one thing i noticed (i had to kill a 3rd party component cable) is that the hellfire component cable didn't have any ground except for audio. i wonder if you solder every ground to an actual ground or the one grounding cable precent, will it fix the ghosting issues and improve quality overall..

Thanks for this tip.  I have one of these cables laying around and will give it a try.

Golden tip : i watched the video and because of it , i fucked up the shielding, just do the same thing as in the images above.
Open it up on the cables side and the shielding comes off pretty easy (and intact, cost me 2 xbox av cables and a hellfire one till i noticed how easy it should have been :p)

  6. Hi everyone :)

    My name is Rens
I'm from Overpelt , Belgium,  25 years old (male)
I have been into xbox modding about then years ago, softmodded a few, tsopped my own (broke a few).
Haven't really done much the last 7 years when it comes to xbox modding,
Started gaining interest again about a month ago and i'm having fun right now with trying some different mods :)

  7. Hi ,

I would like to buy some "cheap practice" xboxes to do various mods on them.

also would like some wireless logitech controllers without paying an unrealistic high amount for them.

Preferably from belgium (because that would remove possible expensive shipping costs) but if its affordable to ship from somewhere else then its fine by me.

  8. So i found Wouter a's tutorial on this site, rendering my previous edit completely useless. long story short. Wii2hdmi causes issues with tv's not supporting 4:3 480i , so the better solution is to use an upscaler?

I have already bought the wii2hdmi and the converter in the video, they will probably both have the same issue?
Does @N64 freak cable have the same issue? or does it have a scaler build in as well? Might just need to buy your little box and get it over with but would really like to make my own solution first :P

    ok, project basically finished,

spdif no problem, pin 6 and ground for shield.

i ended up using a broken thrid party A/V pack that had the end chewed off by a cat for a donor AV connector

i scrapped the internal install idea and instead went external so i can use it on different units.... this is awesome.

    So,

im running the 5V supply off of the DCout pin which is grounded to (any ground pin will do)

i got everything soldered to the board and its working awesome. i closed up the old case and although clearly frankestein, it works clean.

    hdmi converter.jpg

Thinking of doing the same thing,  if i were to use a 3rd party cable and just cut off the AV connector , solder it on the hdmi converter, wouldn't that work ?
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hellfire-Trading-ORIGINAL-CLASSIC-COMPONENT/dp/B00LF9QKP4
every third party cable i use has ghosting, but if if the distance is that short, wouldn't the issue be fixed? (probably more a trail and error situation)

  10. Hi everyone,

i have an xbox with a strange issue. i soldered the tsop, one i had to do alternative soldering because the tin went of the 2 points. it boots once when the board doesnt have power for a while, then it freezes when loading hexen.

sometimes it doesnt even turn on, it powers on, beeps, powers off, beeps and red and green lights pulse. i didnt even flash it yet. could removing the clock cap cause this issue?

i used this exact schematic lastnight and it worked for me first try. the soldering only takes a light touch. the positive lead is the tip.

This schematic is the underside of the xbox main board.

The photo i showed alongside the other schematic above is my converter....

they come in several forms these units and you need to asses each one on its own (but i believe the process/idea is very similar for each)

I am still in the infancy of this project but i did get video to display rather clearly, this is diy and kinda hackish, but it works.

i did notice some grainy stuff going on with the ind-bios screen so im hoping to clean things up a bit. maybe find my own shielding solution etc.... i used wire from an old pc audio port because they were good colors. but i dont think they are shielded (and ended up being rather long) we will see what i can come up with. it wont be pretty but hope to be functional by the end.

I think im just gonne cut open a cat5e or 6 cable, should be fine. ill let everyone know how it went when i get to it. i bought the same converter as used in the converter on amazon, should arrive next week

  12. I think i used a DVD+R for mine. my softmodded xbox never read hexen if i recall correctly, i think i flashed it by putting hexen on the HDD and loading up the xbe (but it's been a long time so i don't know if i'm correct). after i did a tsop on my xbox was the first time i could read burned discs in my xbox.

  13. I'm pretty confused by the tutorial, i can't really see the pins well on the first image, but is this schematic the first image in the tutorial?

    image.png.81665f01cf2c7423cc84f6dd6b2a425c.png

The pattern seems... different. just bought my converter and i really hope i don't screw up my xbox. i love that thing.
Since my Diy 360 to xbox component cable failed because i couldn't get the shielding back on correctly , i really have my hopes up for this mod (the cable without shielding worked and image was beautiful)
