I gone back and forth between toroidal transformers and choke inductors. it looks like it could be either or.

I tried it. twice. it failed lol

if I knew a little bit more about choke inductors I would ask you to take some measurements on yours so I can find a suitable replacement.

yea everything else is good. Just need the inductor and the PSU will be good as new. it's even recapped.

I have already bought the fuses it. it's the inductor I need to locate unfortunately.

nope. I see them on digikey but I'm not sure which is the correct one so

take a mm to the trace pads just to ensure they're good. sometimes the damage can only be seen with a scope

good news on this. The board now turns on! I didn't do anything at all lol. The PSU is still shot though. I can't seem to find a replacement transformer so I'll end up just buying another PSU I guess.

If anyone has a non-working PSU they want to sell, Ill buy.

yeah the PSU works in another console. I will check for shorts over the board. It was working before this happened but maybe a solder ball moves around or something you know? I'll update

I thoroughly examined the board under a scope and it looks fine. I couldn't find a burnt trace anywhere. maybe a chip is fried

nothing on display. I actually let it do that for like 10 minutes and eventually it fragged. I tried to get it to frag a second time by unplugging it and turning it back on and it never fragged. no idea. The power button doesn't work to turn it off. It only works turning it on. Not sure where to start with this. Such a shame it was a great condition 1.1 board. sucks. if I try to boot the console without the av pack it actually blinks and let's me know theres no av pack.
