Which OGX disc has the 720p patched default.xbe file for Fable?

Is it for Fable or Fable: The Lost Chapters?

Hm, good question. That may be my problem right there. If so, i'm a colossal dumbass. I'll check when i get home in a couple hours. It's the 2021 disc.

Gotcha. Then yeah someone else will have to chime in with a fix for the patch files. I don’t get into that stuff. If it was from the archive then it could’ve possibly just been a bad FTP transfer.

The regular 480p .xbe works, so i'm assuming it needs a patch to run from the HD. I've been trying to research how to patch an xbe for that, but i can't find any clear info on it. I think dvd2xbox does it on the way in but i'm not sure how that works.

I would go with Hexen 2021, but if your drive doesn’t open then you’d have to insert it manually, assuming the drive still works.

When that happens, i've had luck with pressing the eject button and lightly slapping the top of the console while the drive is still attempting to push the tray out.

Not what i'd call a long term fix though. lol.

The Xbox Softmodding Tool patches the stock BIOS to include ozpaulb's LBA48 patch.  The patch looks for ozpaulb's custom LBA48 partition table on the hard drive. If found, its settings override the default BIOS partition size limits (the old LBA28 maximum hard drive size of 137GBs which means partition 6 / F drive had a maximum size of 120.55GBs.)  if not present, the old LBA28 limits exists.

His drive should have the LBA48 partition table present; therefore, F can use all the extra space above the 8GBs of the standard partitions - 145.93GBs in partition 6 - without needing to split the free space into two partitions 6 (F) and 7 (G).

I don't understand why the problem exists on the OP's system without seeing the partition table's content.

I figured an all-in-one package like that would include lba48 support through some means, and i'm perplexed at his situation with that rudimentary assumption alone... Meanwhile you have an actual, technical reason. That's what i get for being out of the game for 15 years.

... I don't even know why i posted. All i did was inject nonsense into the thread. Damn. Lol.

With the split F and G configuration, there should be no problem uploading the full 120.55GBs worth of data.  I'm not quite sure why you are having a problem.

The files you are uploading are for original Xbox games, not arcade emulator ROMS?

What are the names of some of the failing files?

Are the filenames longer than 42 characters in length?

Or, do they have characters not valid for the FATX filesystem?

The FATX filesystem allows only the following characters in a filename:

    • ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz 0123456789!#$%&'()-.@[]^_`{}~

    including the space character.

    NOTE: Commas are not allowed.

He's working with a 160GB hard drive. He's trying to fill the last 20 gigs when only F: is used, but can't. He hasn't even tried to fill up G:. He's hitting a 137GB limit that's being caused by something. I suspect that it's the BFM bios that's being loaded with his softmod...

    Found this somewhere:

"Softmods will work[for 2tb HD installs], but the font exploit they use happens late in the boot process when the Dashboard loads, so you will be required to lock your new drive and will be limited in the partition layouts you can choose. Softmod users need to use NKPatcher then to enable LBA48 support for large drives, or the space beyond 137GB will be unusable. "

I would find the option that says "F: gets the rest" and enable it, if you can't find a clear LBA48 option on NKPatcher. If you choose an an option that uses g: at all, you're limiting your F: partition to 137GB. There doesn't seem to be a true LBA48 .67 option with Rocky5, unless I'm mistaken.

    I'm at a loss...

Sorry I had to read your question again. Currently it is on default. Guessing it needs to be on F and G?

I forgot how spoiled I am from tsop and chips. I don’t honestly recall the last time I upgraded the HDD on a softmod

nkpatcher should have a setting for lba48, doesn't it? Try swapping out the bfm bios with an lba48 patched bios, maybe? If you can't get either to work, you may have to resort to using g... Or getting an openxenium. ;) jk.

Heh, sorry, buddy. Just having some fun. I'm sure we'll get you all straightened out. :)

To answer that simply, it's not my Xbox.

    Oh.

I would get a 5$ aladdin, flash an lba48-patched (to fix your 137gb limitation problem) or .67 bios and just get it done. Then hand it back to him saying, "There. I fixed it."

    ... But that's just me. 😛

Dude, i would rather cut my fuckin' foot off with an olive fork than try to softmod an xbox. It just seems so janky, tricking/manipulating the stock bios like that. Why do it in 2022?... Or ANY year that a modchip has existed? It would be so much better feeling to just put in a chip and immediately be able to run what i want from wherever i want.

    ... But that's just me.

I had an ogxbox and tv on a undercover patio that got caught in a storm 10 years ago. Had to leave in hurry and forgot they were out there.  All soaked through with other consoles but after they dried out all worked fine. No issue with running either and no game saves lost.  But coming from an electrical background I understand if you don’t it would be difficult to grasp certain concepts.

I've seen lots of electronics get soaked and work fine after drying. A lot of problems seem to happen when they stay wet long enough and metals corrode, oxidize and basically degrade... Or when power is applied while the device is still wet and liquid shorts fry components. That'll do it!

The X3 BIOS is not finding any of the XBE files listed in its boot list so it finally loads C:\xboxdash.xbe which is the stock MS dashboard. The stock MS dashboard activates the softmod which then loads its default dashboard.

If Rocky5's softmod, it has a long boot order list that it attempts to load a replacement dashboard.  The first XBE found in this list runs becoming the default dashboard:

    • C:\XBMC-Emustation\default.xbe
    • E:\XBMC-Emustation\default.xbe
    • F:\XBMC-Emustation\default.xbe
    • C:\XBMC4Gamers\default.xbe
    • E:\XBMC4Gamers\default.xbe
    • F:\XBMC4Gamers\default.xbe
    • C:\XBMC4Xbox\default.xbe
    • E:\XBMC4Xbox\default.xbe
    • F:\XBMC4Xbox\default.xbe
    • C:\XBMC\default.xbe
    • E:\XBMC\default.xbe
    • F:\XBMC\default.xbe
    • C:\dashboard\default.xbe
    • E:\dashboard\default.xbe
    • F:\dashboard\default.xbe
    • C:\dash\default.xbe
    • E:\dash\default.xbe
    • F:\dash\default.xbe
    • E:\default.xbe
    • E:\dashboard.xbe
    • C:\evoxdash.xbe
    • E:\evoxdash.xbe
    • C:\XBMC.xbe
    • E:\XBMC.xbe

Are any of those files present on the hard drive?

i see. Evoxdash.xbe was on e:, but other than that, no. And that boots to unleashx when executed. Xbmc was loading from f:/apps/x2/ and was probably shortcutted to by the xboxdash.xbe, which was either an actual renamed shortcut or the stock dash used a procedural exploit i'm unfamiliar with to direct to xbmc on f. Is a bfm bios part of a softmod bootup procedure? Otherwise, how would unsigned software like a dash be run?

i used ogxbox to install xbmc 3.5.3 to c/e and it's working great now. I will upgrade the drive later when i am able to back up.

No worries mate nothing wrong with curiosity as long as it doesn’t lead you down rabbit holes, it’s all a learning curve and electricity can be confusing to understand but it is based on very simple principles. Answers to questions here for you and those on your your other posts also. Wanted to reply the other day but I’m new to this forum and didn’t know about only allowed to make 5 posts a day.

RCD switches are designed to stop extreme electrical strikes and problems from damaging homes. it is extremely sensitive. The RCD continuously monitors the Live (Active) and Return (Neutral) wires to see they are in balance, that is, inflow = outflow. Since the Earth is not part of this sensing, technically the RCD will protect without an Earth as this is what it is designed to do.

You say most homes in your area have RCD’s not sure where you are from but in Australia they have been compulsory since 1991. As you probably know they work by quickly cutting-off the issue as they constantly monitor the current electrical flow in both the active and neutral wires.  If an item Is wet, if there is moisture or a fault in an electrical appliance the RCD will absolutely trip. An RCD will trip if there is an in-balance of current because it is constantly monitoring.

If you plugged in your Xbox when it was wet there would be an increase or change in current and it would have tripped the switch in a millisecond, eventhough it’s 2 pronged.  All it cares about is current if a current change is enough to trip it, trip It, it will.  One major eg is an iron, they trip constantly and once dried out are fine to go another good example is if there is an extension cord left outside and plugged in and it was left in the rain and water got into the cord, it would within a millisecond cause a trip to prevent a dangerous hazard because water changed current flow.  But if the cord got wet when it was not plugged in to anything and left to dry out and then was plugged in and worked it would be fine and not cause any damage to what ever appliance it was then plugged into as there is no extra current. You see in a 2 pronged double insulted appliance if there is a change in current from water or other  cause and causes the appliance to cease working, or if the hot line gets shorted to the return line, then a huge current will flow and in less than a millisecond it will trip the RCD as it is designed to do. It’s The same for both 2 and 3 pronged. Non earthed tripped just like an earthed.

Next:   The chance of one appliance affecting another on a power strip is pretty much a zero. The RCD protects your TV and Xbox or others appliances connected on the same power strip because again it’s all about current flow and it recognises the flow, power strips have fuses and or circuits for protection as well as do consoles and TV’s having their own fuses. The power strips are protective of each individual appliance.

You asked about where extra current goes if it’s there.

Power boards have a feature that is called overload protection. This feature will automatically stop any electricity that leads to the power board should there be a potential for overloading/overheating so electricity is stopped by the fuse But even before this the RCD will trip so electricity is stopped. Also fuses in strip are designed to blow that’s what fuses in strip are for. But RCD beats that anyway.  A fuse is an electrical safety device that operates to provide overcurrent protection of an electrical circuit. Its essential component is a metal wire or strip that melts when too much current flows through it, thereby stopping or interrupting the current. It is a sacrificial device;. Also as mentioned the RCD picks up on the extra current if it’s there and trips anyway. It’s the same principal as point 1.  It trips..

A fuse is an automatic means of removing power from a faulty system; often abbreviated to ADS.

Your units are still powering up and working therefore no extra current has flowed through them. as I said the RCD is very sensitive and will pick up any damage to any appliance so if a water damaged appliance or the extension cord example were damaged after they dried out and were turned on the RCD would trip it.

Re the corrosion and other consoles connected to the same power strips it’s the same answer, the RCD and strip will protect if there is a problem caused by corrosion. But corrosion doesn’t necessarily cause damage or issue.  Also any issue with it would trip so fast you wouldn’t believe it. All  our electrical appliances RCD’s, power strips are designed for protection of our appliances and our own personal protection it’s all about Health and Safety and Protection and also Legal Regulation, imagine the lawsuits from faulty appliances. We have strict codes here. All the answers to your questions come back to the the point that you are protected by the RCD for everything which work the same for either 2 or 3 pronged plugs.  Don’t get caught up thinking that there is less protection because it’s 2 pronged because that is not correct. RCD’s are extremely sensitive it’s your safety sheild.  Another extra back up protection is in the power strips and fuses in them and the fact that the Xbox power supply has a fuse in it so does your tv. That’s how it is in Australia anyway, I know there are slight differences in other countries so check where you get your information from. It seems to me that once you have clarity and understanding of the physics of electricity  which I hope I have helped you with you will see that you don’t have issues or concern as everything is working and all the protections are in place. I thought I would expand on my previous answer, I know it’s long winded but want to put your mind at rest  as I was not in a position to fully reply earlier.

    Happy to help if needed.

That is some damn fine information there, friend... And some damn gigantic font. Very thoroughly explained. Thank you.

Now that, my friend, is an accurate assessment! Not even partially messed up, but fully! :)

I guess i'm curious how the hell the x3 is booting a shortcut from from f's root that doesn't actually seem to exist. I thought that would be interesting to find the answer to. Oh well. Guess i'll never know. I'll format and reinstall once i'm able to back up.

can I try it with the  xecuter 2.3/2.6 bios from the hexen 2021?

I would use the x2 5035.67 just to be safe. I think your bios is configured to boot from the disc drive if media is present. If your 500gb is IDE, set the jumper to slave. If it's sata, set the adapter to slave. If you're using sata, make sure you have an 80 pin IDE cable. If you still can't boot your installer at that point, then either your installer disc is fucked or your dvd drive has smoked it's last cigar.

I guess you could install your shit over ftp... Manually. But, personally, I'd rather disembowel myself with a wooden fucking cooking spoon.

I downloaded the free HDDGURU Raw Copy Tool, hooked the new drive in where my cdrom was (yeah older pc) then took my master and plugged it into usb port using a usb adapter. Started the copy and went to bed. Installed it in the morning and it worked perfectly. Unfortunately my newly found and modded xbox worked for about 6-7 minutes and then went dead. Now all I get is the dreaded frag.  Oh well, I tried, but at least I have a drive, a chip and some spare parts ready to go for the next one I find.

My heart just broke. That sucks, buddy. Thankfully, you do have those parts that you can transplant and run the same configuration with. I'd use an identical version xbox also. Might as well.

I don't think the evoxdash.xbe file is a shortcut.  It is 752KBs in size which is the size of the actual evoxdash.

And E:\evoxdash.xbe at 2.9MB's I believe is UnleashX.

In E, is there a skins subfolder?

    Yes, containing a put.skins.here file.

Dave, it's 160gb. I suspect that the hd first had a softmod installed and then the x3 was installed... Although, that still doesn't help me understand how this ghost dash is loading from f:.

I tested setting the clock in the Original Dash and the clock setting in the X3 config screen and also letting the clock set via the network and it made difference.

When the X3 bios was written they probably didn't think the Xbox would still be in use past 2020 ( who did think in 20 years time people would still be using the OG Xbox ) and the same happened with the Aid soft-mod files.

Maybe if the R3DUX project (X3 clone ) continues they may fix the bug in the X3 bios or totally rewrite it .

Thank you for being thorough. True that the box has definitely lived a long life so far. Can the x3 bios even be modified? It's a mod of the ms bios itself, isn't it?

Also, you have any idea what is up with my dash and how my x3 is booting a dashboard that doesn't seem to exist? I'm confounded, buddy.

It's still hard to make out for sure.

Seek to around 11:40 in the video where he points out the corrosion to get an idea of what to look for. After that, see if you see anything similar along the edge in the area he was looking.

I know for my board  I couldn't pick out the corrosion in the pictures I took.  Once I got it under good light and followed the traces along the edge, I could see a break clear as day.

That's what i was going to suggest. Better light and from multiple sources/points, if possible.

Thank you. Glitch confirmed! That is an odd oversight from team x, i gotta say. Does setting it with the dash store thd date in the same way/place as doing it in the bios? I ask because i don't know how the time is stored and then read so i don't know if different methods work different ways.
