Here is the update. Got everything cleaned up, bought another stock Xbox and swapped the drives while the belt is in the mail. took the 2Tb new drive and put it on another PC and loaded up FatXplorer 3.0 and set up the drive. Transferred over the drives and got it working. Then loaded Xpartitioner 1.3 and got drives F and G setup and working with 949 GB each. transferred over Xbox HDD Ready and CoinOps 8 Massive.

Sent pound HDMI support an email and they responded asking me for my amazon order number and that they would ship me out another one to verify the other is defective. I tried changing every setting on my TV (new Sony Bravia 950) to no avail.

Now that i have this 2nd Xbox (v1.2), picked up another OpenXenium chip, 2tb, and IDE/SATA. Yanked the motherboard, removed clock capacitor, replaced thermal paste, then when the first is done ill use that app that clones xbox drives and maybe give it to a friend.

Really wish i could find a OGX360 internal, but i messaged N64 and he is no longer producing, and no one has duplicated. There is one guy in UK semi duplicating, but it takes your original ports away instead of splicing into them leaving the original functioning should you want to play with an OG corded connector, and it does not have a case. So I guess i am going to try to get a OGX360 external.

Also trying to figure out a way to add a WiFi card nicely. I wonder why we can just tap in an add a USB port on the back and mount a small WiFi bridge with Ethernet connection on the back of the case. Internally would be nice, but all the videos I've seen while they work are kind of sloppy and i dont want to be hacking into my case with a dremel.

Right on, man. You've been busy in all the right ways.

The ogx360, i'm sure, can be done internally if you're willing to put in enough custom work and soldering.

If you want wifi without doing an internal game adapter and it's just for when you are at a friends house or something, you could bring a laptop, connect to the wifi and then hook up the box with a crossover cable and bridge the connection... But it's just not the real thing, huh?

Some time back I bought a board with the 1.4 interposer mod already installed but unfortunately didn’t have time to mess with it until now. Checked his GitHub and saw references that say XBMC will always report 1.4 regardless of the switch setting. Is there a way I can confirm if the switch is actually switching between 733 and 1.4? I tried several retail games from disc without patching which I understand should have issues but both worked with the switch on or off. I also verified the blue led on the interposer stays on regardless of switch setting.

    thanks in advance :)

Maybe an emulator with a game that's known to lag without significant boost? Run the arcade game R-TYPE Leo. Flip the switch while running that, and you should see a huge difference.

I just started from scratch and made sure to not skip any steps. I think I figured out what was wrong this time. So far everything is working fine. Now however, I’m running into a fatal error after installing and attempting to load Artwork installer from the downloader. I tried a reinstall and nothing has changed. I’m so done with this damn soft mod.

Well that looks familiar! i ran into that last week! Happened when i tried to change something with my leftover softmod shortcut.

    ahem... Exfuckin'scuse me.

FATXplorer created a 120 GB F partition and a G partition with all remaining space. Can I use XBpartitioner to only create an F partition with all available space or does a G partition have to exist as well?

Each can hold just under 1tb, Google "og xbox 2tb xbpartitioner 1.3" and you'll see how it's done. No big deal. You may have to throw the last 70gigs or so on g:.

There i go posting vague and possibly incorrect info again...

See, that was easy right? ;) How ever, glad your HDD is working now and you can finaly enjoy your XBox. :)

I think it only shows up in a full browser. Not showing up on my phone. Damn, i can't wait to get consistent pc access... Bout another month...

    YOU ARE AWESOME.

Ok, so i pulled my new 2TB and put it into another computer and used Fatxplorer 1.3 beta to format and preload C and E then when booting i got:

    setting on IDE/SATA adapter:

    cable - error 5

    slave - error 7

    master - error 5

    acd - error 5

Scratching my head i looked up error 5 which is HDD not locked. I had to remove to clean back of motherboard thinking the capacitor may have damaged the eject etc. I then re positioned the chip carefully and got the pin into the correct place, and WALA it loaded into Unleash X.

So now onto the next issues

    1) my Pound HDMI cable is making the screen go black every minute or two for 1 second at a time. I have the usb plugged into the same tv as the hdmi is, and i tried it into a samsung wall charger and getting a similar issue.

    2) G: drive showing 0 free, F drive saying like 123 GB free. So i am assuming the partitioning isnt setup correct. Opened up Xpartitioner and got the error "LBA48 info not found! Custom Partitions will not work with this BIOS! update your BIOS to one which supports at least LBA48 version 2. What should i update to?

Does this xbox need a new flux capacitor?

Glad you got the chip working. Nice work.

I actually have the same 1 second screen glitch. I'm hoping it's the shitty hdmi converter box i'm using... It's been fixed by some by replacing the big caps by the cpu, but not all the time. What are you using to get hdmi?

I would flash the x2 5035.67 bios. That should get you lba48 support, bios-wise.

The flux capacitor is fucking bulletproof. You just need fuel!

Edit: i've been trying to research your chip and it appears to have 1mb but i think it requires certain dip settings to set up for a 512kb bank. However i can't find any useful documentation about the chameleon, including flash instructions. Are you able to identify your current bios using any dashes or other software?

Lol remember it was in a college house, I am sure half of that was resin as well. I almost spit out my drink reading your reply! So my question to you is how do i boot my dash and re flash without a working DVD drive? Do you recommend replacing the clock capacitor anyway? I could probably grab a old DVD drive out of my other computer to get it going, but don't want to have a cd tray ejecting and closing all the time.

    Ah, good ol' resin...

As long as the old capacitor is gone, you're good. It's not necessary on your version.

As per recent advice from sweetdarkdestiny regarding these circumstances, do me a favor and format that 2tb with fatxplorer on pc (to address the error 16) and then use "ogxbox installer 2021 v1.5.3 beta2 + xboxhdm for fatxplorer". Copy the files over to the 2tb using fatxplorer and you should be rolling with a bootable system. Follow the readme in the installer. We'll tackle the dvd drive after.

    Like the username, btw.

I don't know if it only happends with SATA drives. If I just have to speak for me, I have to say yes, only SATA. I just own 2 IDE drives (Which I use for testing) and had never a problem with them.

But I also have to say that not all SATA drives show that behavior. Once I had 2 HGST HDD (2.5") both with 500GB (Same model). One worked right away and the other trow a error at me. So it's like I wrote just a mystery until someone with a shitload of skill and the right tools on hand run into the same issue and start to explore why this is happening.

Very odd... Good info, though. I would react to your post with a ❤️ but i see no option to do it. :)

I got your "joke" the first time.

How ever, there is no topic about how to fix the error 16. I stumbled over it one time. I had an HDD that had an error 16 and I tried XBHDM. And to my surprise it worked. Next time I got that error I tried the same with FatXplorer and how it turned out, it worked as well.

So I can't tell you why but it worked many times since then for me.

Well, hell. You can't argue with results! That is very curious though. Is it an issue that only happens with sata drives? I've never had a problem dropping in a brand new blank IDE drive, booting an installer dvd and setting it up.

  10. 16 minutes ago, sweetdarkdestiny said:

Because the HDD get checked on boot and send an error (16) he can't boot an DVD. Got that error (16) my self a lot of times and formating it on the PC always solved the problem.

So the answer to your question/guess is a yes.

And no here will get "DICKslapped". Except you like that but then this is the wrong forum here.

Okay. Thanks for the info buddy. I need to do a lot more reading and a lot less aimless posting. I'm eager to help but if i'm not familiar with the issue and i'm making assumptions then that's just annoying.

Also, please believe me when i say that if i were ever dickslapped in any sort of literal sense, i would be, justifiably, very upset.

The HDD is master. Slave will fail and cable select can work in some rare cases.

The error is what we are going to fix with FatXplorer. XBHDM could do the same but why bother?

After he formatet his disk on the PC the job is done and the error 16 is gone. The rest is a mystery.

... Wow. I had it BACKWARDS? That is an embarrassingly noob mistake. I deserve to get relentlessly DICKslapped for that. Christ in a china shop...

Still, he should be able to boot a dvd with the hd set to master or cs. The fact that he can't makes me suspect his dvd drive or cable has an issue... Or is there a reason why a dashboard clock issue would keep dvd media from booting?

  12. Also, try swapping in another dvd drive. Even a pc drive powered externally. You may be able to boot an installer that is burnt as a regular data disc (non-xdvdfs) if you have to use a pc drive.

Sometimes it works if the dvd drive is dead. Error 7 isn't always a hd issue!

    DL : OGXBox Installer 2021 - v1.5.3 beta 2 For FatXplorer + XBoxHDM.zip

Install FatXplorer 3.0 like written in the read me.txt and copy the content of the C folder to your C partition and to the same with the E folder (E partition).

after that your xbox should boot.

And jumper the adapter to master. ;)

Wait, isn't the dvd drive master? Wtf? Also, shouldn't he be able to boot a disc with proper jumper settings regardless of what's present on his hd?

  14. 4 minutes ago, joublogs said:

    slave = error 07

    master = error 16

cable select = DVD constant seek (linux shows under the xbox logo but nothing further happens)

And yes, DVD is in for every config.

the error 7 with correct settings is the one to take note of. Either the cable is no good or your  dvd drive is dead...

This will probably be the dumbest thing i'll ever suggest, but is it possible to install an ide cable backwards? Lol.

  15. 1 minute ago, joublogs said:

I've tried master, slave, cable select and "force device 1" with results ranging from error 16 and 7 to no boot and the constant DVD seeking behaviour.

I'll try them all again now and revert.

And you tried to boot the dvd with every config?

    All,

Thanks for the advice. So, I got the DVD drive all cleaned up and boiled the belt. I put in the startec IDE/SATA and hooked up the 2TB. I found the Clock capacitor was leaking, so i removed it and cleaned everything up. On boot it opens up alright and closes. It is a samsung and it seems to be opening and closing constantly now and I am getting Error Code 16. Removed the motherboard and checked the runners on 7 on the bottom of the board and they look fine with no residue (cleaned anyway).

Before it was booting to my old drive (just stuck on the Xecuter password), so i plugged in my old hard drive and instead of seeing the boot password, I get stuck at error code 16. Not sure what to do now. Was thinking about getting a new clock capacitor and soldering in, and replacing the belt in the drive. Thoughts?

The drive when it retracts all the way it kind of gets stuck and has a hard time releasing. It almost looks like the last tooth on the left drive rail broke off, and it is having a hard time getting on the wheel. Drive doesn't seem to be initializing the Disc at all.

Christ in a cadillac, that was a fuckin' GRIP of dust.

if you're able to flash your chip, the m8 bios will ignore the error 16 and get you into your dash. Theoretically, you should be able to boot your dash, reflash to the x2 bios and  get in normally again. It should clear the error. Kaos or dave please correct me if that's inaccurate.

You may want to replace your disc drive. Or get a broken one on ebay and transplant the tray if a tooth is indeed the issue.

No I only tried master and cable select. If coldasijs's suggestion doesn't work then I will try setting the adapter to slave mode.

The dvd drive is already master. If you have an 80 pin already i would set the startech to slave. That's what the hard drive is supposed to be set to, otherwise there are conflicts on the cable and it stops the mobo from seeing both devices. Not booting a disc is a symptom of that.

The partitioning/formatting of the hard drive is irrelevant. You should still be able to boot from disc and format. That's why there are installer tools on discs to format your HD. The fact that you can't boot a disc at all leads me to believe the xbox doesn't see your disc drive. The jumper settings could be the cause of that. Try setting to slave. It's easier than hooking the HD up to a pc. Also, if you have incorrect jumper settings, it won't matter what you do with your HD cuz your xbox WON'T SEE IT. Also, you still won't be able to boot your installer disc to install dashes and apps to the HD you just formatted with the PC.

    Know what i mean?

I’m attempting to upgrade to a 1 TB SATA HDD. I have the following:

    • Xbox 1.4
    • Aladdin Advance modchip
    • EvoX M8+ (EvoX.m8.ece.67.noDVD.UX.256.bin flashed from OGX Installer 1.5.4. MD5 4737a026fde9e799d9c7392d05971505)
    • Seagate ST1000DM003 1 TB SATA HDD
    • StarTech IDE2SAT2 adapter
    • Gigabyte 80-wire IDE cable
    • OGX Installer 1.5.4 (DVD-R burnt with slowest speed)

I installed the SATA HDD and initially used the stock 40-wire IDE cable since the 80-wire IDE cable is a tight fit. I booted the Xbox with OGX Installer to setup the HDD. The DVD drive tries to load the disc but makes strange noises. It sounds like the laser head is stuck in a loop. It doesn’t do this when I boot the disc without the IDE2SAT2 adapter. After 30 seconds I ejected the disc as I didn’t want to possibly damage the DVD drive.

I got the same result with the 80-wire IDE cable. I also tried the IDE2SAT2 adapter in master and cable select mode. The SATA HDD is listed in the Xbox Hard Drive Compatibility Chart, but I don’t think that matters since I’m using a modchip and the drive doesn’t need to be locked. The BIOS I’m using should have LBA48 support.

What would be the most likely cause of this issue?

Did you set the sata adapter to slave?

Hm, good question. That may be my problem right there. If so, i'm a colossal dumbass. I'll check when i get home in a couple hours. It's the 2021 disc.

  21. 11 minutes ago, MadMartigan said:

Gotcha. Then yeah someone else will have to chime in with a fix for the patch files. I don’t get into that stuff. If it was from the archive then it could’ve possibly just been a bad FTP transfer.

The regular 480p .xbe works, so i'm assuming it needs a patch to run from the HD. I've been trying to research how to patch an xbe for that, but i can't find any clear info on it. I think dvd2xbox does it on the way in but i'm not sure how that works.

  22. 8 minutes ago, MadMartigan said:

I would go with Hexen 2021, but if your drive doesn’t open then you’d have to insert it manually, assuming the drive still works.

When that happens, i've had luck with pressing the eject button and lightly slapping the top of the console while the drive is still attempting to push the tray out.

Not what i'd call a long term fix though. lol.
