I think the communicator is in dire need of a reverse engineering and a remake. It's a simple board I don't think it would be too difficult. I mean the development we've seen for OG Xbox is mind blowing. I have lots of faith that it could be done. Unfortunately I'm not smart enough to do it.

    Thanks for the effort!

I only found one, but I’m almost certain I had some more of these things around here somewhere. I’ll keep looking. Im amazed nobody else has any extras being that LIVE was out of service forever.

  2. You've probably got some trace rot under the board where the clock capacitor was located. Once they start leaking, they can damage components. Remove the motherboard completely and check continuity on those traces. Here is a video explaining what you should check and how to fix the issue  if they're damaged.

  3. Lol I did already understand that cci is for cerbios. That compatibility list makes it seem like those games do not work in cci format. That's what I was getting at. It specifically says these game will only work in hdd ready files. That is the reason I mentioned the method ModsvilleUSA used, in case others aren't running the almost complete cci library. Best I just not comment about this stuff to avoid confusion.

Also, I believe Dempsey has said some of those other games will most likely NOT get fixed due it being a speed issue and not Cerbios related. Something along those lines.

  4. That list sill states that some games only work as HDD ready. I’m a little confused here

The modzsille video showed the fix for the split iso and file names too long. That was simply ripping the iso to the HDD, which fixes these issues on the fly.

Edit: IIRC, he just ripped the iso image and didn’t have to burn them to disc.

  5. No you’re not screwed at all. Sounds like you’ve just got some files mixed up and causing confusion, resulting in the hang at splash. Renaming the .xbe to .old seems like the issue. I’d suggest deleting that file, copying the default.xbe from your dash folder on E: to the root of C:. Then rename the file in C to “evoxdash.xbe”. Try to reboot and see what happens.

  6. I saw a Modzville video I believe, where he talked about just burning the .iso of incompatible games and then ripping them to the HDD. This way it eliminates the split iso and long file name issues. He also shows results of them working as intended. I guess this is the best if only workout currently for those incompatible games.

But why would that be the issue since it worked fine when I was using the stock HDD?

Also how do you use a normal cable to FTP stuff? The guide I used only showed two methods which one was connecting your Xbox to a Wifi/LAN Router and transferring files via the router and using a Crossover cable to directly connect the XBox to a PC. Which is what I've been doing. 🤔

Same exact method, different cable. If you have one, give it a try just to see.

  8. If you can, backup the bios.bin that’s in there already to your pc or another folder on your E drive. Then replace it with the new one you’re trying to flash. Also renaming the new file, “bios.bin”. Try to flash from HDD again.

If this still does not work, then create the folder as it tells you to name it in the all CAPS, “BIOS”

  9. Was that the only game you tried or was there some progress made with the others on a different drive? As much detail as you can possibly provide will help figure out what’s going on.

Edit: Been so occupied with my own issues I completely overlooked the fact that you’ve got these all in different folders. I’ve never tested that myself so I have no idea how the pathing it set up. Even still, the fact that most games are working, now makes wonder if the problematic games could potentially be mislabeled. Now I could be reading way too far into it lol

  10. You can use the XISO to HDD script within XBMC.

If you’re getting the same result through different conversion methods, then I would assume it has to be a bad download. I’d then try downloading those specific games again, one at a time if you didn’t do that originally. That way you can test each game as you go and you’re not wasting time.

Edit: I just found this thread you can read up on.
