Sorry to double post: if it is not unlocked, can I use a raspberry Pi and Piiprom to recover the eeprom from the dead mobo and then unlock it using xboxhdm?

Thank you I’ll try the WD pass and see if it works. I’ve got a few stock Xboxes. I’ll get one modded ASAP and hopefully the HDD is unlocked and ready to go.

I know the drive was originally formatted using Hexen. Does Hexen have its own master password as well?

So I TSOPed my Xbox and spent days building my setup, ripping games etc. I got a little too confident and tried to do a ram upgrade and trashed my motherboard. I’m planning to TSOP another Xbox and want to just stick this HDD in it so I can pick up where I left off before the fatal ram upgrade attempt. I’d like to think I had the foresight to keep the drive unlocked but I’m not sure if I did or not. Is there any guidance on how to best accomplish this?

Thanks for the tip. I messed up and ordered 2 ram chips initially instead of 4. When the next two get here I'll post how the installation goes.

Sorry for the double post, it won't let me edit my last post. Words of advice for anyone else doing this for the first time, be sparing with your heat if you doing the "drag" technique at 750F. I bent a few pins and lifted a few pads by dragging across the pins a few too many times too quickly. I had to do some wire repairs. I'm two chips in an no frags so far.

aha you're brilliant. I'm going to flash an ind bios while the stock drive is in and then it will ignore the config when the 2tb drive is in and I can delete it and reflash X2. Thanks man.

That wouldn't help me with my 2TB drive that still has the funky x2config though.

I've got a v1.1 that I TSOPed with an x2 5035 BIOS and I installed a 2TB sata HDD. I was messing with the x2config file (to remove the stupid "Xecutor Rox my box" thing) and like an idiot, I checked "Disable CD boot". For whatever reason something about the config file results in a frag and I can't get the xbox to boot the hexen disc. Any tips? Xbox boots fine using stock HDD.

How would I go about checking a ram upgrade on a v1.1 TSOPed xbox? Can you run the XBlastOS .xbe and check the ram that way or does it need to be flashed to the TSOP?

I've near zero experience with hard mods on the og xbox. I'm pretty savvy with soldering so I'm considering doing a ram upgrade. I've got an aladdin XT clone in the mail. My question is this: Which bios will I need to flash on a 1.6 xbox for it to recognize 1tb of storage and the 128mb of ram?

Just coming back to the og xbox scene. I was a long time lurker on the halomods.com forums as a kid, my only real contribution to the scene being a mod that added hydraulics to the warthog that you activated with the right trigger. It did make it into exilelord's "Why We Mod" video which hilariously is one of my most proud achievements to date lol. Anyway I just purchased an OG xbox for $15 off craigslist and am looking to do so stuff to it. Super glad there are still enthusiasts around producing amazing tools.

I'm interested in converting the original wired "S" controller into a wireless controller using the guts of an off brand wireless controller like a Logitech. To anyone's knowledge has this been done before or at least something similar?
