  1. Thanks! Do you know if it needs any certain format?
  2. Greetings all. I wasn't sure where this would fit best so I figured I would drop it here. I'm looking to convert some files to XMV format. I have a modded xbox with dragon on it, and I wanted to change the preview videos that show up for the games. Let me know if there's any way of doing this. Thanks!
  3. Thanks for offering to help everyone. I did solder at those points, but I don't think I successfully bridged the connections. I borrowed a soldering iron when I did this, and it was way too hot and basically just vaporized the solder. I'm not really interested in buying my own right now. I'm sure with the right effort I could do it, but I've been trying this for a bit too long. I just want to be able to actually start playing my Xbox instead of tooling around with it for weeks on end. I do very greatly appreciate all the help everyone has given me through this process. Maybe someday if I want to do this again, I'll try my hand at it, but for now I think I've done all I can. As a side note, I'll be selling the Xbox that I've been working on, as well as the hard drives and other things that I got for it if anyone has any interest in that. The console still works and is softmodded and everything, I just couldn't get the hard drive swap worked out.
  4. Well, it looks like I soldered something wrong because it's saying the chip isn't writeable. I gave it my best shot but I think I'm just going to throw in the towel and buy a modded one instead of tooling around with this forever
  5. Thanks a bunch! Here's hoping this works
  6. I know it's been almost 5 months since I last posted here. I've had a lot on my plate so the Xbox went on the backburner. Is there any chance you can reupload this link again? I've had more free time up and I want to finally finish my Xbox
  7. I'll hopefully try that this weekend and report back I've been using ImgBurn. I generally have most stuff closed out when I do it, but maybe having even a few other things open causes problems. I'm not sure
  8. Will I need to use the evolutionX dash for this to work, or will UnleashX be fine? I don't doubt that the burner is an issue. I've tried 2: one is an external DVD drive that just plugs in, and the other is a built-in laptop DVD drive, so probably neither one is ideal. I got the software from this tutorial by Slot1Gamer, so I don't know if it's reliable or not. I did try a different version of HeXEn (the 2018 version I think), but that didn't work either. Whenever I would burn using the external drive, it seemed like it just stopped responding at a certain point and the light on the front would stop flashing. Maybe some other process seized control of the disc drive, but I'm not sure.
  9. All I have is Rocky5's softmodding extras disc. As stated above, I couldn't get anything to burn. I'm going to try to do what SS_Dave suggested though. If I didn't get the bridges right, it won't hurt my Xbox to try the flash, right?
  10. Interesting. I didn't know that was possible. I do kinda like the aesthetic of the OG controller though
  11. I think I have unleashx. Can I install evolutionx from the softmodding extras disc? Is there a tutorial on doing the flash that way? I don't know for sure if the bridges are good, but I don't have bios checker on disk. Is there a way to get that without the disc?
  12. Follow up: I did some deconstructing, and it seems like the only thing from the Xbox One controllers that will work on the OG Xbox controllers is the joysticks (I haven't verified since I don't have an Xbox One controller to deconstruct, but this seems to be the case). The buttons won't work; they have different patterns for the little slots, and they're different heights. Triggers are obviously out of the question without having to check, start and menu buttons are done completely differently so those don't work, and obviously the bumpers can't be subbed out for the black and white buttons.
  13. I'm going to be honest, I don't know what evox dash or xblast os is. I think my tsop chip is ST brand
  14. Yeah that would probably be a while to get here. I'll try your method, but if anyone from the US has it on disc feel free to message me
  15. I'm in the central US. I can certainly try your option. At this point I'm not sure what's going on, so I'll start there
  16. Hopefully this is the right place for this. Are any of the pieces of the Xbox One controller compatible with the OG Xbox? I'm mostly curious about the ABXY buttons and the joysticks. I know that Xbox 360 joysticks will work on the OG Xbox controllers more or less, but the Xbox One has a lot more options for custom controller parts, so I wanted to see if anything was transferable.
  17. Yep, it's been softmodded. I resorted to TSOPing because I was trying to switch out the hard drive with just the softmod and it wouldn't work for me, so I was told that TSOPing was the best way to go. I also am using Verbatim DVD-Rs at the slowest supported speed using ImgBurn. It always gets stuck part way through the burning process (at a certain point, it'll just drop down to 0 kb/s and won't move, no matter how long I wait) and won't progress forward or let me cancel the process.
  18. I've been trying to TSOP flash my 1.1 XBOX. I've successfully soldered the proper connections on the motherboard (not easy with a soldering iron that doesn't have adjustable heat levels). But for the life of me, I can't get HeXEn to burn to a disc. I've tried 3 different computers and used up 5 DVD-Rs. I've been battling with this Xbox for months now, and I'm sicking of pouring all this money and time into it without any results. I know it's silly to ask, but is there any way that someone could mail me a copy of HeXEn on a disc? I will more than happily pay for the mailing costs of it (shouldn't be that much anyways). I just want to get my Xbox back in working order again so I can finally store my games and play them. If anyone would like to help me out, please shoot me a message and we can arrange details. Also, there's a program that checks if you've properly soldered the connections on the motherboard, right? If someone has that, the same arrangements can be made (preferably both discs from one person). Hopefully this request isn't out of line. I'm just really tired of this thing not working for me.
  19. That makes sense! Thank you! So once I reflash the TSOP, do I keep the Xbox running when I replace the hard drive? Or do I do that when it's turned off?
  20. To make sure I understand correctly, I need to do the correct soldering operation, and then I need to do the TSOP flash using TruHeXEn with the original hard drive still on my Xbox, right? And then after that, I can power down my Xbox, switch out the hard drives, and then turn it on with TruHeXEn in the disc drive, and configure the new hard drive with that? And if I do this, will my softmod and dashboard stay on the Xbox, or will I have to reinstall them as well?
  21. Just to make sure I understand correctly: if I TSOP flash, I won’t have to do Chimp at all, right? I can just plug in the new hard drive and it’ll run?
  22. Thanks for the reply! I'll look into the donation thing. I'll try to do the TSOP flash (I have a 1.1 Xbox). Do you think it'll improve my situation with the hard drive? In terms of unlocking the drive, will that be a detriment to performance? Can I still lock the drive if I TSOP flash? I don't intend to do a bunch of hard drive switching Yes, I did mean those screws. I'm in the US though. I'll see if I can find any, just to keep as extras
  23. Restarting my post instead of continually appending to it: I made the changes suggested to Chimp (deleted linuxboot.cfg, deleted my old chimp files, added the 5 mentioned files to E:\Applications\chimp). I went into Chimp straight away, and did the cable swap when it prompted me to. I realized that what I thought was an error screen is normal. Standby for testing... Test results: After pressing A to confirm that the drive is connected, I get stuck on the part that says PCI: cannot allocate resources.... (10:42 in this video). On The video, it goes past the lines that start with PCI pretty quickly, but mine just gets stuck on that and doesn't advance to the next line (the one that says no controller found). The cursor is not flashing on it, so I think it's frozen Additional Questions On another forum where I asked this question, someone suggested that I do a TSOP flash, which they said would help improve hard drive compatibility. I looked into it, and it seems doable, but I'm not sure if it'll be necessary for me. You guys seem knowledgeable (and more helpful), so I figured I'd ask here if it was necessary. I wasn't able to reply to this thread for a while, because it said that I had posted the maximum number of posts that I could in a day. Is that just a thing for new members? If so, how long does that last? Is it possible to get new case screws for the Xbox (i.e. are they just a standard size)? I think one of them is starting to strip from all my taking it apart, and I want to replace it before it causes problems If someone can delete the previous post, please do so, as it's very rambly. Sorry for double posting
  24. I see. I’ll check on that tomorrow A YouTube tutorial I watched (by Mr. Mario I think?) said that it’s necessary to wait 5 minutes for the disc drive to go to sleep before beginning the hot swap. I guess that’s out of date info
