Hi, i have a hardmodded version 1.6 xbox running xbmc4gamers as the dashboard, and when im in the dashboard and navigating through menus everything is fine, however when I select a game you can clearly see it switch to like a mode that makes the picture horrible like a purple and green hue over everything and the resolution is blurry and it only occurs in game, the second I back out of the game and return to the dashboard the graphics are fine again. Ive replaced all the caps around the power connector, could it be a gpu issue? Ive reapplied thermal paste to both cpu and gpu, im using standard composite cables on a crt. It did the same when going through a hdmi converter too when i tried using a modern display. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

It was booting OK before I removed the 3 old capacitors near the CPU/Power connector, also the clock battery. I replaced the 3 capacitors and now get this issue (see attached video with sound stutter at the end). I have removed/replaced all 3 capacitors again, also tried mounting them on the underside of the motherboard for testing loose out of case, but get the exact same results, even doing them 1 at a time etc. I have visually checked the board front and back for solder splashes, trace rot and other abnormalities with magnifying glass, everything looks great! I have had this issue on a previous Xbox and identified the issue to possible 2 capacitors which I replaced and it has worked fine for months after replacing. So, this issue still does seem to be capacitor related but I've done what I can to try and fix, and would like to know if other people have had this boot issue and what it was that fixed the issue? Thanks 1.2_1.3 Boot Hang + Sound Stutter.avi

Sorry, but I have to annoy you again... I once again bought a cheap ogxbox at a flea market. So far so good. Unfortunately, the box now has an error that I've never had before... and I don't know how to fix it either... When I turn on the box, the box starts to "pump". The LEDs flash alternately. go off and then on again. Fan stops and starts again, screen is black, hard drive is clicking and turning. After 5 - 10 seconds, the box is stable, the fan is running, but the LEDs continue to flash in all colors. Despite this, no error code is displayed even after a long period of time. When I press the eject button now, the DVD doesn't respond at all. If I then start the box via the eject button, the error pattern is the same at the beginning, but then the DVD is opened and the box then boots normally. Then I can even turn off the box completely and turn it on normally. Everything works as it should. If the box was switched off again for some time, the problem starts all over again. The box is a version 1.4 with TSOP patch, but the box also has the same quirks with modchip and original MS BIOS. I've changed pretty much everything that can be changed. IDE cable, yellow DVD cable, DVD ROM, hard disk, power supply unit ... the CPU/GPU cooling paste has also been renewed and the clock capacitor has been removed ... I don't see any signs of wear on the board, and the capacitors still look good... As always, any help or hint is appreciated... Cheers and Thanks

My LE Green Xbox which is very little used and has been kept in practically retail state (never opened) completely out of the blue decided to start itself the moment I turn on the main's power. Its been connected to the same power block as my most used Xboxes for years so when either are on it will have been getting some power to the clock cap but TBH I can't remember when it was last actually used; it has to be at least a month ago. Then this. It won't turn off using the Xbox power button but will turn off using the UnleashX menu option > Shutdown but then immediately powers up again. Its working perfectly otherwise. Clearly something has happened, probably partly due to the hot weather but what? My theory is that I made a big mistake keeping it plugged in so that when the other Xboxes were being used its clock cap was indeed being charged. Despite it not being used regularly that has led to its premature ageing and leaking, doing some sort of damage. I suspect I'll only know if that is correct by cracking open the case which I specifically did not and still do not want to do. So if the cause could be something else which doesn't required me to take its virginity advice would be appreciated.
