Not enough to cause any problems

I read of one person from Facebook mod scene that's had a 1.6 with a LED in place of the clock cap for several years and I have a 1,6 that a has a 220 ohm resistor fitted for at least 12 months and it gets regular use and is connected to the mains power 24/7.

A single LED draws 10ma to 30ma depending on the brightness  and can run from a coin battery like a CR2025 for hours.

    Cheers

Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

the LED will draw as much current as 3V3 standby will supply, unless you also have a current limiting resistor in place. likely much higher than 30mA. this will waste a small amount of power all the time and also decrease the life-expectancy of the LED. the 200 ohm resistor would waste less power (16mA / 54mW), but a larger resistor would probably work fine and waste even less. both of those options should work "fine," but i think they are worse than dropping in a smaller cap or doing redherring's standby voltage -> clock cap trick.
