  1. "Thief - Deadly Shadows/CONTENT/T3/VideoTextures" contains region specific video files . 30 - NTSC; 25 -PAL. Missing files will cause freezing.

You run PAL in NTSC mode?  To make game to work with NTSC and PAL, you simply inject 30fps video files to PAL version, Or PAL files to NTSC.

If you have difficulties locating real PAL version. I'm pretty sure replacing 30 with 25 on file names will work. Because some PAL games with 25fps video works fine in NTSC mode.

games like 007 nigthfire require injecting files to game container in ".viv" format for driving levels, and injecting video files in a regular folder for FPS levels.

I know I have the stock hdd but why is my F partition not working...? and why does it say that I have 1 extended partition even tho I have a stock hdd?

Disable extended partitions in 'custom dashboard' settings, so detection of these will be disable and no messages will bother you. F and E partitions dont exist on stock harddrives.

So, I assumed the general softness was due to AA, but I found this over at shmups and now I’m not sure if it’s whatever’s happening here or a combination of both. The image appears to oversharpened to the point where it creates so much ringing around the edges it actually softens the image.

Xbox RGB scart is compressed signal, possibly this is why we see ringing. Its not true RAW rgb signal. There is no AA. Could be flicker filter turned on, there are 5 levels of it.

This was a talk point for ages. I'm not that smart so i give a link for more info.

I seen you WII videos, so with usbloader component output can be as good as gamecube?? Want to play RE4, because updated releases have missing effects like depth of field, makes game look flat.

  4. green adapters supports ATA100 or above this is why stock cable doesn't work. startech supports multiple speeds, so try original xbox PATA cable.

Could be damaged pata cable. You dont mix softmod and  hardmod.

    So you have hardmod.

You boot a CD that could format HDD. You format it to stock with extended partitions.

After that, you check if xbox boot to stock to begin with.

Then you install custom dashboard to predefined folder path that exist in bios image or (for cerbios bios) config file - you have to create.

there have been reports of failed clock caps. maybe not leaking yet. in the future they may start to leak and if it does leak, the ide and lpc traces are right there waiting to be rotted away. a much worse demise than earlier revisions.

black ones leak for sure at 100% rate. But goldies, never seen one.

not needed.... maybe, but possible to do now

now you can pull it out and never think about it again. super caps have a higher chance of leaking than regular caps regardless.

no reason to have it unless you want to use the clock.

No leakage was ever recorded from this capacitor. Any mod is welcome.

Dude... Do you PLAY those games, though? Is it really worth it? Lol

Desert storm 2 is super fun game (4 player coop). "Conflict" series are super fun. FIFA07 uses 720p, its fun to watch how XBOX struggles to render in such high resolution, more like a novelty.

Many PAL game versions works in 480p. It's a good way to cover both NTSC, and PAL when using RGB SCART or composite. And PAL versions games on some instances have advantage over NTSC versions, for example fatal frame. NTSC versions uses different more adult like models, while PAL versions is true to japanese version.

Okay, if this is true then it's good to know. I would be disappointed if there were lag on 480p. My current Slimfit is only 480i, but the one I have in storage takes 1080i HDMI input!... Scaled to 480 I wouldn't doubt due to the size of the shadowmask/phosphor lines, but I wonder how that would look and what the lag would be like?... I gotta find out! :P

Storage Slimfit also has an ATSC digital tuner... Wtf? I've never even heard of that on a CRT. Lol

high scan 1080i CRTS upscale image to 1080i for all inputs.  These TVs are can of worms. :D

This is not for all games the case, toca3 give a dirty disc when you play world tour. The version on origins is patched so you can play world tour but when you come around 50% of the world tour then it trows a dirty disc error. When you make an xiso the old way with quix it also give an dirty disc error. the only way to be sure this game works is to have a full dd xiso or make a xiso/cci with repackinator.

Yes, i'm refering games that require no patching. Since i discovered why i get dirty disk error on desert storm 2, or fifa07 hangs. Now i only dump games from retail disks or full DL dvd iso dumps.

Yes, Certain CRTs accept digital signals. However, many people who use CRTs do not favor using them if they can avoid it because of the processing of the digital signal, which introduces lag. It's a great signal, but some people are sensetive to the input processing time. I have all interlaced CRTs at the moment, but I do have a 36 inch trrinitron that accepts a 480P signal in storage.

EDTV upscales 240p, 480i to 480p. 480p input signal has no digital conversions. Of course analog 480i tv will be fastest, since its analog. European 100Hz are the reason maybe for this, it double input lag, because it display same image two times to achieve 100Hz.

So 480p is the way to go.

Yes, the data sizes are almost the same, so that's not a benefit. You are correct. In fact, I pointed that out earlier today. :) Like I said, I don't know why this is catching on so much. It's like people just coming into the scene never knew that it really wasn't much of an issue in the first place... seems like the ones that HAVE been around simply forgot or something... It's like a fad that I'm hoping will pass... like MakeMHZ's non-existent and still unrealized features.

    -------------------------------------------------

Toca3 (this one must be a full dd xiso)
    Harry Potter: Prisoner of Azkahban
    Monster Garage
    Tony Hawk: American Wasteland
    Tony Hawk: Project 8
    Jurassic Park
    Fable... without dlc
One of the ESPN 2k5 or 2k6 Games

The following games are present on the Origins image and are known to not work for one reason or another, or just have issues:

    - Medal of Honor: Frontline - There are many videos that have been removed, I'm assuming due to filenames.
    - Fight Night: Round 2 - There's no music in the menu there.
    - Arctic Thunder - Freezes while loading a race
    - Midtown Madness is freezing halfway the game if you play washington undercover the mission Diva Manners
    - Nightcaster II: Equinox has 5 missing .bik files causing the game to crash
    - TOCA 3 has a dirty disc error when playing the world tour (Why ISO is needed)
    - Jurassic Park Operation Genesis also has dirty disc error (Why ISO is needed)
    - 1 of the unreal tournament games is a prototype game.
    -FIFA 07 is freezing
-Return to Castle: Wolfenstein has a dirty disc error while loading a mission

    -----------------------------------

It is advised that these games be run from ISOs, in my opinion. :) File format does not work well in their case.

games that give dirty disk, because of bad dump floating on the internet (fifa07, desert storm 2). When i extract games file from archival 8GB disk, i get no errors.

Many games can be patched by brute force. Later games, file paths are no readable in HEX editor, only handful of them.

Movies not playing, is because PAL and NTSC versions have specific file names for each region, can be fixed, by injecting missing region files.

Plebians... I have to use it for my CRTs component input, so yes, I'm a plebian. lol

So the flicker filter is basically scaling the image and alternating lines as the TV alternates through cycles, itself... That's downscaling the image inadvertently, isn't it?

EDTV CRTS does support 480p, not sure if all modesl, most of the time its written on component imput "480i/480p".

This language barrier is hilarious and slightly challenging at the same time. :)

@Akumakage, the only reason your console should frag (red/green lights) without the chip plugged in, is if Lframe/D0 is grounded to the motherboard and your mobo is trying to boot the LPC, but can't because there's nothing there.

I think SCART has the potential to carry true RGB, but I'm not sure if it does that with the Xbox. It might just be component. So yeah, you'll get 1080 with it. The slight green tinted blacks that you're talking about happen on mine too. I think that's everybody and is unrelated to your fragging. I don't think that that is a sign of an issue... Unless you're saying that that's what happened when it died... In which case, yes: That is a sign of a big problem. Haha.

Do you have Lframe/D0 grounded permanently to the motherboard on these 1.6 consoles? If so, disconnect those wires from ground and tell us if those consoles boot. If they don't... Then damn you may have fried your Lframe already... On BOTH consoles. That possibility is extremely improbable and is not likely to be the issue. It usually takes time. The fact that your console died while running something is interesting, and that it didn't come up while you were trying to load software, restart, boot, etc... Basically do anything involving reading the chip. So I don't know if it's the chip... But both consoles died the same way, and the modchip is the only common factor between them. So this is definitely an odd problem.

Can you do us a favor and please post a picture of both rebuilds, along with ID of which console they belong to?

    Thank you :)

PS: As long as your chip's D0 works, use IT instead of motherboard grounding, but yes, try disconnecting the D0 ground completely to see if your TSOP boots and to see if your consoles are truly dead. :) .... And :(

RGB scart on xbox is hilariously bad. Signal is not RAW (4:2:2), but processed garbage. Insult to injury is that flicker filter. Component, the only proper way to play xbox.
