    Hi everyone!

I'm a long time XBox user/collector/modder from Vienna who, after a little hiatus of a year or two, recently (hehe, yesterday) found out that Assemblergames isn't there any more ... xbox-scene seems gone, too ... bummer. It's good to see that there still is an XBox community - so, hello!

Maybe I can contribute a thing or two. Let's see.

Hi, you can find a lot of the assembler refugees here https://www.obscuregamers.com/

So I tried my hand at making a slim.

Case has been cut down. Shield inside has had all its sides removed. OEM fan has been trimmed to fit. Interior trays have been trimmed to fit. Front controller ports shaved. Factory power button is now sync button for internal ogx360. Factory eject button is now power button with xbox one slim button jewel. full sized 1tb hard drive installed where dvd drive use to be and ogx360 and receiver mounted where hard drive use to be. LEDs replaced with white leds. pic looks like something is wrong with right of front panel.. not the case.. cant see anything in person. Thinking of doing the top jewel like a carbon gray.. haven't done it yet.. not solid on the idea yet. Not perfect but I like it.. looks clean.

Sorry to ask a couple of dull questions but what did you use to fill the ports and what do you do about bolting down the lid?

    Hey guys,

So I was attempting to make my own OpenXenium modchips. I managed to get all the components and build 6 of them. Of the 6, 4 of them were successfully programmed with a BusPirate XSVF programmer (i figure I just need to reflow and check for bridges on the other 2). When I go to do the final programming using Ryzee's Xenium tools only 1 of the 4 that were programmed actually get detected with the software. Even then when I go to program that one chip with the the tools it only gets to 50% complete and then the xbox just freezes on the flashing process leaving the chip in a partially flashed state. Im using the recovery.bin file from xbins for flashing. I was wondering if you guys have any ideas as to what might be wrong in this situation. Im in the process of setting up an NXDK environment to see if I can build the tools .xbe from there.

    Thanks

Check the cpld for bridges, I found I could program the cpld but then had issue flashing the firmware. It was down to solder bridges I couldn’t even see. Most of the time just running the iron across the pins was enough but a couple I just used solder braid and that solved it.

Thanks. I have soudure kit, and i will follow the famous video about ram upgrade ( because i saw nothing about console upgraded RAM on ebay).

So if my 1.6 ( excalibur chip) dont have empty space, so only the 1.0 and 1.1 can do it and at the same time have 1 mb bios.  A poeple say to me that the 1.1 have a better graphic chip than the 1.6 that change of brand. So the 1,1 and 1.0 seem realy good.

What part of the world are you in? I have seen them on the UK eBay site and I also have a couple of spares.

I had searched and nothing on ebay about that exepte some prototype ( that say nothing for me) . But there is this involved console https://www.cafr.ebay.ca/itm/Microsoft-Xbox-Original-Console-LINUX-cords-Collectible-Tested-Very-Rare/184022790146?hash=item2ad89cf002:g:XB0AAOSwGBRcGsOH              His motherboard is better than a random microsoft release about capacity and running game?

    Here’s a link to a YouTube video. https://youtu.be/RrONeFj0p3A
I was lucky enough to pick up a N64 board in a crystal case with an xecuter x3cp. They do get offered up every so often.

For someone like me than expect for no modchip particular, what is the better version of xbox. ( Excepte those have not empty space for RAM) .

A lot poeple want v10 or v1.1 but dont know why.

If you want a ram upgradeable Xbox you are going to need anything but a 1.6. 1.0-1.1 have a 1MB bios if you are going to tsop which gives you  a bigger selection of bios. The rest are 256KB. If you want the ram upgrade it would be easier to buy one unless you have fairly good solder skills and a half decent soldering iron.

  7. Here's a link to an earlier incarnation of hexen https://xbox-scene.xbins.org/forums/index.php?topic=729570.0 I read in another thread that the no dvd m8+ bios was meant for a sharp flash.

i think as more modders have put out versions they have created more bugs as they have removed, added and edited files.

i didn’t have any issues with the 2019 version but I just used it for the unleashx config.xml and skin

Cheers, I will give that a go if I ever bother to try using it again!
    What a pointless feature!

You normally only need to use the password when using the hexen files on the hdd. When doing an install from the main screen from dvd you shouldn’t get that?

Mind you it has been a while since I have used it. I think the idea of the password was to stop user f###ing things up by accident, they would have to do it on purpose 😀

well honestly editing the config file is a bit above my head lol, so I"m going to attempt to set the path in xmbc again

There are a couple of YouTube videos on how to do it. It’s pretty straightforward just rename the original and leave it in the c partition until you are sure the new one works. Copy and paste the apps entry and then just rename it.

no I do not just a games heading where I can access my xbox games ripped to hard drive

Well you can put ninja in your games folder for unleashx or you will need to edit the config.xml and add the Emulator heading. In xbmc you just need to set a path to the emulator folder in program.

  11. Just now, Neoxavier said:

actually I cannot see the emulator folder in unleashx or even on the E drive where the unleashx dash is located...might I have mistakenly deleted the emulator folder there? If so can I just create another 1 there or will I need my hexen disk to reload it?

Do you you have a emulator heading on your unleashx dashboard?

Hey, I'm having an issue where I cannot load Ninja massive directly. I have the program files in my G drive and in any tutorial I've watched, when you go into emulators and click on ninja it loads right up, but Ive tried from XMBC, and unleash dashboards, and no go. only way for me to load is to go to file explorer and launch directly from the default.xbe. I tried to "point" to the file within XMBC, but cannot locate that particular file from there, only in file explorer. any suggestions?

When you say you have the files on your g drive, do you mean you have them in a folder called ninja inside your emulators folder?

Hello! So after some suggestions from people here on the forum, I decided to attempt TSOPing my 1.0 xbox.

Now, I haven't soldered for 4-5 years, and haven't touched an xbox since I moved abroad (have now moved back), so I don't remember much about the whole process.

Didn't want to wait for flux because it wouldn't arrive for another 3 days, so I did the bridging without it. (Success btw)

Now, for the flashing part, I'm wondering what bios you guys would suggest as the chip has a 1mb bank,

and which CD you would recommend for setting the whole thing up (Hexen, Slayer etc).

I know this is a bunch of NoOb questions, but I haven't been in the scene for a couple years.

    Looking forward to your replies!

    - Fixified

Just check your tsop to check what it is before you try to flash it.

All I need is to use g drive, what would you like to suggest I should do. I tried to flash with 7b1 and got that message flash is not writeable

I think you mean the f partition if you only have a 500GB hdd, use a .67 bios as it gives you the option to have a 2TB hdd.

Ok so again step by step

I'll try to upgrade Evox M7 to Evox M8 to use G: drive

I checked Kernel and as I understand my Xbox is 1.4

    2020080100053388_5f250f10c8804.png

Then I tried to update Evox via Slayers 2.7 but I got this error

    2020080100093577_5f250f476c1a4.png

I read about that I need to flash via Hexen's Winbound, but I don't know how, I got 1mb bios, chip is unknown

Take a picture of the motherboard so someone here can see if you have a modchip or tsop. From the information you have given it sounds like you have a 1.0/1.1 with a winbond tsop. Here’s a video on flashing a tsop, you don’t need to use hexen to flash it you can use slayer’s.

Hi, I have been given two Xbox consoles, one to repair (and I may get to keep the other), both new to me and have been in storage for years so owner is unsure of details. Both hard modded. One works fine, the other after fixing an overheating issue now works to turn on intermittently using the power button. Eject seems to work OK. The hard mod requires the use of the power button, it will work after 5 or so minutes of fiddling.

Because I am in a unique situation I am looking for advice that I can't search in another category.

I have been asked to get photos and saved games off the non working box. My soldering skills are limited and kynar wire will cost me $20 here in Australia so I'm hoping there might be another fix.

Given both boxes are hard modded is there a way to unlock the drive in the non working box and use it in the working one? I have been told that a straight swap didn't work which is why it's been given to me to find a fix. I've read about nulling the HDD and eeprom but all info seems to be based on a softmod.

I have contemplated several options but not sure what will be simplest, lowest risk etc.

Cloning - can I clone a drive from one box and use the data in another?

Swap - Is this possible? Do I need to null the HDD and eeprom on both boxes? Can I look up the eeprom code on the working box and change the HDD code to match?

FTP, can I simply FTP the data from the non working box and then push it to the other box? (Keeping in mind by non-working I mean it takes 5 minutes to get the power button to boot into the hard mod.

Finally a hardware fix. As I said my soldering skills are limited so I'm worried about this proper fix for now (though it may be easiest and will result in two working boxes).

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

You can unlock the hdd by using an eeprom reader providing the Xbox powers up. Ryzee has built a cheap arduino based reader but there are other alternatives. Use the reader to get a copy of the hdd key and then use xboxhdm to unlock the hdd.
