By launching it from DVD2Xbox I mean:

I put the disc in, start DVD2Xbox, choose "Copy DVD/CD to Harddisc". It recognizes the game and even copies it to the HDD. I then take the disc out and try to launch the game from the "Game Manager" menu (of DVD2Xbox). As soon as I try to start it from there, it gives me a black screen and I am returned to UnleashX.

The same thing happens when a simply put a disc in and try to launch the game (without using DVD2Xbox) from UnleashX.

The dvd drive is playing back ups so that sounds like a software issue. The games that you listed are they original rips that you have done, as that seems to be a patch issue? What bios are you using?

The xbox with the dead drive I had to replace is a 1.6 with an aladdin chip I installed (I redid the LPC).  My parents actually sent me some of my OOOOOLD college stuff and these were in there :)
Would these be better than the aladdin I have in my 1.6 now?  These things worth anything?  I also have another 1.0 xbox but like I said before It died after I removed the clock cap and only really have 1 working dvd drive now haha

Fitting the xecuter 2.6 will give you more choice of bios with the 1.6. In the uk they are worth about £25. The 1.0 should not have died from removing the clock cap, something else has to be causing the frag. Check the other caps.

    Of course! :)

I am not quite sure what is the best way to do this but I have taken some pictures of the root of "C" and "D" and the first level of the folders. (Except for "Backups", "UDATA", "TDATA") Please let me know if there a folder whose content you are interested in.

Is there a way to somehow print the file structure as a tree from the Xbox itself or is this something that can be done via FTP?

If you can suggest a guide that tells how to properly install a hardmoded Xbox, I would take a look :)

yep you have a combo of hard and softmod files. I would load hexen and do a new hdd install, this will put m$ dash on c and in dash on e. Once done just use unleashx and navigate to dash and load m$ dash from there.
Regarding playing the originals check which region video you have setup.

Absolutely doing this!!  Thank you!!  This will be great to not have the power LED on when the unit is off.  Would you happen to have any info in dvd drive repair?  The disk drive in my crystal xbox frags with error 7 any xbox I put it in :(  Had to repair this current one with a Thompson drive from another xbox.  Every hear of dvd drives causing this?  Thanks !

Had the similar issue, for me it was an issue with a Phillips dvd pcb but would frag on boot. Still haven’t worked out what is wrong with the pcb but would think it is an open circuit not a short.

Ok SS_DAVE cooking with Gas now thank you!  Your raincoat app was able to work perfectly!  I verified that it was picking up the right BIOS because I changed the color of the Xbox LED
    BUT..

No dice.  On the compatible long IGR, it reboots the xbox then FRAGS.  On the short IGR option, it just pops it to a blank screen.  Looks like maybe there is no solution for Aladdin chips with EVOX running 1.6 IGR?

** Scratch that.  Some games seem to be working.  It just kicks it back to the unleashX or Evox screen which is perfectly fine!

Have you tried a different controller to rule that out?

Thanks guys and I want to try the new BIOS but unsure how to flash without the disk.  On the Hexxen disk he has the app and BIOS's built in.  I can FTP the BIOS over no problem but how do I flash from the xbox itself?  Thanks!

make a folder in your e partition called bios and ftp over the bios to that folder. Then use evox dash to flash it. Via System, flash bios.

Good plan.  I can put another Dash on there and then switch from one to the other.  I only need to use it this way on the odd occasion when not playing on the main TV - I have wired network available there.

I'm assuming it's possible to setup a manual link to another XBE file from within XBMC4Gamers to something like EvoX (what I'm used to and if I remember correctly quite simple to put a manual item on to XBMC4Gamers (can't remember if I put in in E:\Apps\XB... or just E:\XB... so it might not get picked up automatically).

If you setup unleashx as your dash and then setup a gamepad shortcut to load xbmc4gamers and see if that gives you enough time.

I used the Hexxen 2019 disk and I have a 1TB hdd.  I use the partitioner to have I think like 128gb of the F: and the rest on G:

I would try one of  SDD’s 1.6 bios and see if it cures the frag. What is your dash setup, do you have an evoxdash.xbe on C?

BIOS are really not my thing; am I right in thinking you can use a v1.6 BIOS universally ie. on v1.0 - v1.4/5 as well?

For instance the Aladdin XT Plus 2 comes with a Evox M8+ BIOS version that says it is universal - is that true of other v1.6 compatible BIOS?

Final thing: the partition support - if you use the Partition 6 (F) takes up to 137GB /Partition 7 takes the rest option shown in the EVTool can you changed that with XBPartitioner v1.3 later? If you were fitting a 2TB HDD you have to divide it equally between F and G so I'm assuming the EVTool option is just for the initial HDD partitioning set up.

This is the m8+ for all versions, read the .nfo

I’m still getting to grips with using the og Xbox in 2020, well setting it up.

I’ve got a USB powered WiFi bridge that plugs into the Ethernet port, and is powered directly from the console.

But the console starts up quicker than the the bridge can connect.

Is there an option I’m missing that will force XBMC4Gamers to check the network again and then it’ll get an IP address?

    Ta

    Pete

Have you got another dash on your system? Once your dash has loaded try loading the 2nd dash and see if that works.
Another option is to get a internet adaptor that uses the ring/radial power circuit to run you internet connection back to your hub, or a wireless extender with a ethernet adaptor.

But i saw always 128mb xbox with executer and coins ops. I had hope that will help with my games a little bit and reduce lag in general.

    Roms ? what is it?

No, coin ops works fine with 64mb of ram. If you wanted to run your dash at 1080 you would need the extra ram.

Rom is the generic term for a game file that generally came on a game cartridge and are used on emulators.

If it's not the debug board can you sell with a original black shell or clear?. And have it a sofmod able to exploit the 128mb like MAME, coin ops , surreal 64 ?

Hi, you don’t need a ram up grade for mama, coin ops and nintendo 64 to work, there are roms that will work better, I think it is just the chihiro arcade games you need the 128 upgrade for.

Ok so to answer everyones questions:

The modchip is this:  (Ximimark Aladdin XT-4032 Machine Readable Original Mod Chip Suitable for XBOX1)  You can search that on Amazon.  Its the Red chip.

The Dash is the regular one that Hexen disk installs by default when you set up a new HDD.  I didnt change the dash or skin.

I used the Hexen disk to boot and flash the chip with the 256k 1.6 F AND G bios.  So what bios would that be on the disk for that chip?  I cant get the bios off the ISO because its in the xbox file system.

For the second question, yes.  The OG V1.0 xbox worked perfectly fine before I removed the clock capacitor

    Thanks for any help everyone!

Try using the bios that SDD has posted above. Make a folder on your e partition called bios, then ftp the bios into that folder and use evox dash to flash the bios.

On the V1 are you sure you removed the clock cap? If you disconnected the power and eject connector make sure that is reconnected. What are state of the other caps on the board do the look dome shaped, also check the traces for pitting.

Also. Got a v1.0 Xbox and removed the clock capacitor.l for safety.  After I removed it the Xbox refused to boot anymore. Literally does the reboot 3 times then frags thing. Any thoughts?

    thanks!

Was it working before you removed the clock cap?

can you also take a picture of the modchip in the 1.6.

  15. Load the bios you are using into evtool, in the top right you have 2 options for igr, one reloads to dash the other to the flubber. Not sure what other choices you have on the hexen disk but you can load a bios of your choice to the e partition and just use evox dash to flash it.

Here’s a list of the main bios available, you can use a x2 5035 1.6 other than that I think it is the m8 or m8+.

Funny you should ask that because after reading SS_Dave's thread about his 'disillusionment' with HeXEn and in particular the EvoX M8+ (no DVD) BIOS I thought I'd better check my TSOPed v1.4 which was flashed with HeXEn 2017/18's 256KB Evox M8.plus.F and G BIOS. I'm guessing from the description and the problem that is what you may have used too ie. the v1.6 version.

I've not used my TSOP Xbox that much since so hadn't tested the thing thoroughly and I'm annoyed to discover there does seem to be an IGR and Reboot issue with it.

From an UnleashX main dash the Right/Left trigger, Back/Black or Start/Back buttons causes the Xbox to freeze on the flubber screen. Using Reboot from the main dash menu produces a similar problem as does the Restart from XBMC (running as an app).

I tried other things like going to the MS dash, booting apps with return to dashboard options (BIOSChecker and DVD2Xbox), rebooting using the UnleashX and Avalaunch dashes I have installed as apps all worked flawlessly.

XBMC worked fine when using the main menu XBMC Restart option but Restart to the main dash, as said, and it always sticks on the flubber. EvoX likewise. Using any Reboot option rather than 'soft-reset' seems to provoke this behaviour.

I suppose it could be a HDD or main dash installation problem so I'm going to test that tomorrow with a clean HDD and fresh AID main dash install. But this smells like a BIOS issue to me. I'm also thinking the DVD drive check is involved as after these freezes the only way to get it to boot properly again is to shutdown and restart with the Eject/Close button rather than the main Power button. Sometimes the tray does not eject, the LED just flash green and when it does that however it is restarted it freezes on the flubber again.

Consequently the DVD drive will also be tested with a known good one to eliminate that as a possible culprit.

I really do not want to have to reflash the Winbond TSOP again but if the BIOS is broken what choice is there? I guess Viper3344 will feel the same way too if the consensus of opinion is that the BIOS is the most likely cause of the problem.

Check the settings for igr in evtool.

    Hey guys!

    So 2 quick questions here.

Recently got my 1.6 with the red modchip installed, flashed and working with F and G on a new hdd. Works great.  Problem is when I do the 2 triggers plus back and start to reboot, it frags.  Power down and back up again and we are golden.  Any ideas?

Hi, what bios and dashboard combo are you running? Also try igr while you are not in a game and see if that has the same result.
