I can't get into it though atm I mean I don't have any sort of FTP access (well I do) but the xbox won't FTP as it can't boot into anything atm so I do need some sort of recovery DVD or something

Fatxplorer is a pc program to access your hdd, you need a usb to sata/pata adapter depending on your hdd or a spare way on a desktop for a drive.

I gonna get a DVD-R disk tomorrow download hexen do that BEFORE it crashed i'm sure it was XBMC4Gamers (I guessing I do need a DVD to get into it)?

You can check your hdd c partition using fatxplorer. You want to check that you still have the evoxdash.xbe file which will load your dash.

Weeell... not far enough, but I did get Xecuter 2.6 chips installed in both. Never fixed the crashed HDD on one or got a BIOS on it, and the other never got more than Avalaunch installed, but at least it works.

Ooon the other hand, I never did the thermal paste, clock caps, or HDD upgrades on either, so there's plenty of work to go around~

Do the clock caps providing they are 1.0-1.4. Also check the caps around the heat sinks for domeing as well.

Help! So I have a original xbox (hardmodded) has I think most games known to man on it and loads of the old classics. Now I was having a problem getting 1 game to work with trainers (can come back to that if need be) Now..............I have no idea what i've done BUT...........for some reason now my xbox will boot (says loading IND-Bios) gives the microsoft logo (slightly altered of course) THEN..................Nothing. Won't boot into a dashboard or nothing. Just gives me a grey screen. It's as if something's been altered but don't know what

Use hexen or similar and check that evoxdash.xbe is still on your c partition using file explorer. What dash are you using?

I completed my first softmod a few weeks ago and was not satisfied with the outcome so i ordered a couple of the aliddan xt chips. So far this looks like a great community for it. Any input would be helpfull. Happy to join Mattison

Hi, what version Xbox do you have, if it is not a 1.6 a tsop is an option?
Here is a guide to an Aladdin install and more info here on this thread.

I have tried a separate 80 wire IDE cable and 2 separate SATA/IDE adaptors, to no avail. When I attempt to unlock the drive via Chimp I get the same result no matter which option I choose, "hdtool: illegal option --d".

Is there a way to unlock this drive via PC to try again? I can't seem to get my pc to recognize the drive.

Yes using Xboxhdm providing you have your hdd key, which you should have as you are doing an upgrade.

    Ok friends!

     I was able to get 2X used xbox's.  One is a 1.0 and one is a 1.2

I have an xecutor 2.6 chip brand new and that X-ecuter 2 Lite chip I can desolder from the xbox that died above.

What combo do you all recommend?   I was able to find a tutorial online for the xecutor 2 lite but not the 2.6.  Any advise appreciated!

You can tsop both unless you want to use a chip, which is the dead board, the 1.0 has a 1mb bios and the 1.2 has a 256kb? I like the ind-bios bios as you get the extra igr functions.

    Hi From France,

    I am a new comer.

I am in love with retro gaming and i have many systems (SEGA, NINTENDO, ATARI, COMMODORE, MSX, THOMSON).

Recently i decided to start to collect XBOX games (the original).

I now have two PAL XBOX that seems to be 1.6 version.

I have the project for hard modding there XBOX'S with a Aladdin chip + 2TB hard disk.

Since i am new i am a bit lost and i would require your help for this project to have your advises.

Firstly i am locked for downloading Hexen software, it looks like i am not allowed.

Can you please help me to unlock the download section?

He confirmed that he had done that earlier.

There's something more going on here; if Chimp locked the HDD on that Xbox as slave (or master) it should be capable of being unlocked too.

The fact the 1TB HDD did not work as master and now can't be unlocked suggests either a connection or hardware problem. I'd check the 80 wire IDE cable is connected properly at all three points (HDD, DVD Drive, MB) as other have suggested. If that does not help then the best bet is trouble caused by the SATA/IDE adapter.

Unfortunately the only way to test that is try a new one and whilst you're at it a different 80 wire IDE cable too. If neither replacement helps then, even worse, the new HDD becomes the chief suspect. You could actually test that first if you have a spare HDD available and at least save the cost of buying a new SATA/IDE adapter.

I bought a pair of 80 wire IDE cables a few months ago and one of them works perfectly but when used the other had intermittent problems often reporting  errors 7 and 9 at boot. Connections all good and no obvious damage so initially I thought a HDD or SATA/IDE adapter fault too but it was the IDE cable causing the trouble.

I've had to dump it because of that.

Use Xboxhdm to check the new drive using eeprom/hdd key and check the c and e partition have been setup correctly or just unlock and try again.

    Hello,

I came across this site while searching for solutions to my problem. I was attempting to upgrade my XBOX HDD to a 1 TB WD SATA drive that is listed as lockable. I followed Mr. Mario's tutorial on Youtube to a T, and it appeared to be successful, however upon powering up with the new HDD in place of the old I get error 07 and on occasion 09. When going back and attempting to use Chimp to re-clone the original HDD to the new drive, the new drive cannot be altered due to it being locked. Attempts to unlock the HDD via the Unlock Slave Drive menu in Chimp do not work, all of which lead to the same screen referencing the password from the motherboard, but changing nothing. How do I unlock this drive?

And yes, I have the jumpers currently set to slave, and had them set to master when I attempted to utilize it as the master HDD.

    Any help is appreciated.

Is your Xbox a soft or hard mod? Have you remember to set the new hdd to master after cloning?

i recently picked up a "pound link"....seemed like a good idea, at a good price, but ive failed to get it to work ...and not for a lack of trying.....however ive found reference notes on their web site about 1.0 or 1.1 having issues....so thanx to amazon ill be sending it back for a replacement to try again, after that its going back

with the wii unit ive had alot of issues with them on my modded wii's enough to be a bit shy of using one on the X...so im starting to look at n64's unit  as the ONLY viable option

I have a pound adapter but it only has issues with 1 of my 1.4 boards, I didn’t try it with separate 5v supply though. I think I just got lucky from the amount of bad posts about them and the companies own you tube post!

siting here running updates, with dave as my co-pilot, ive been thinking about permanent solutions, not just long term but something we can do once and never muck with it again, and yes im fully aware we can network out and get time untill something changes a site goes dead or we live with a wrong clock.....

so the obvious one to me would be to run a set of wires off the clock cap pins out the back of the box and do an external battery backup mounted between the AV and the cat5, but..lets face it, how longs it going to last?, how long would it take to charge?..theres ALOT of variables and too much chance for a dead clock that needs reset

me personaly i keep ALL of my vintage consoles on a switch box so that their bricks and power boards dont EVER see voltage unless they are in use, to preserve caps, boards and bricks, and heaven forbid..a power surge of some kind that manages to get past my ups, i figure setup like that my consoles should out live me..i hope, for the guys that dont unplug or kill power, you just replace the cap, or go with a small battery

but its got me thinking about not only the xbox but any other unit with a clock cap that could be without power for weeks...months....lets face it we never know what life throws at us

so what do we know, ..its a 2.5v cap...but what amps?..if we were to run 2 wires and add a port to the back of the box we should be able to add some manner of small wall wort brick and step down the amps/volts, heck you could use the same wall wort to keep clock voltage on multiple consoles depending on how they are displayed...im not just thinking the X  but any/all systems

anyway its an idea im tossing out there however dumb it may sound at the moment

You’ve got way to much time on your hands!😀

  14. If you don’t want to waste dvds just stick them on your hdd and preserve the life of your dvd drive.
To load multiple games on a dvd you are going to need a program to load a menu that the disk will then be able to choose the .xbe from the game folder.

Here are the photos of each ram chip. I know some pads are lifted but I compared them with the pin out and they aren’t connected to anything.

From the pictures it looks like you didn’t clean the solder off the pads before you soldered the new chips on, this makes it really hard to sit the chips properly. 2nd pic top right looks like a solder bridge between pins 2 and 3 and I haven’t looked that closely at the rest.
