The OP's N64 Freak board hasn't got a mod-chip, Both the N64 Freak boards and the OP's come flashed with IND5004.67 bios and as long as the HDD is working and the config.ini is there then there is no issue. If the config file is missing then the fan returns to auto

I have found there is no need to run the fan at 100% unless you have downgraded the stock fan with an Noctua fan.

    Cheers

Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

Mine came with an Xblast, and I installed a Noctua and put fan speed to 100% in Xblast OS.

Yep... it's a Philips drive. There is no Modchip on the MB. Just TSOP. Which actually works nicely right now. I was able to mount the SSD using a 80 wire IDE cable and Star Tech converter with the help of the OGxbox installer you've provided the link for. Took me day to find the settings with the partitions and copying though. It is such a relief with this SSD now. Cloned everything back from the HDD and it runs just great. I was able to lower idle temp to 54C°. Seems okay for now. I actually thought about getting rid off the DVD drive and optimizing airflow. Maybe I'll check that route on a later mission. For now I am pretty happy with my very silent mod to feed my arcade cab. Just love this little box. Thanks alot for all your input Dave.

Is the Modchip a Xblast? Becasue you can put the fan speed to 100% in Xblast OS and it will overtake the settings no matter whats missing (for example the cfg file on C). Its basically a good insurance just in case you forget something. Not sure about OpenXenium or other Modchips with Custom OS. I have a N64 Freak 1,4Ghz as well and it came with the Xblast.

If this is a missing bios issue, then there isnt any need to completely rebuild the hdd. However, if by chance the user does have an extra hdd available, then they could possiby make a dummy hdd in order to have the preferred bios.bin files available. That would allow the initial flash take place and then they could swap back to the OG hdd. But Kaos's suggestion to flash remotely from a computer is one of the first things to try.

but he is getting a bios flash screen. xbox should be able to boot hexen.

if he gets nothing (black screen) without chip, he most likely needs to rebuild C. otherwise he would get error 16 becasue of missing dashboard. thats what I know from my experiance.

Hello people. i managed to fix the traces and install the xecuter2 modchip which i had spare. switched it on with the switches in correct position and im getting a bios flash screen. now the funny thing is now. when i switch the chip off via the switch. i fort it would boot into the ms dash board. which it dosent. the console switches on but nothing comes on the screen.

so now the flashing. i dont have no blank dvds to install the bios. only way is to ftp into the console. i did try and quickly ftp into it using a normal ethernet cable plugged in to my network splitter but it wont connect. do i need a user name and password. been so many year i cant even remember

is this chip working properly well atleast is it supossed to be doing what its doing

    cheers people

its in german, but it might help you

In your case I would burn a Hexen and pop it in, reinstall Hardrive, rebuild C partition and put all Apps including MS Dashboard to E/Apps. This should fix all your problems.

I was referring to the “HDD Ready” converted game files that are the most commonly used backups. You can use full redump files on Cerbios or convert those into .CCI format using a program called Repackinator. Cerbios was made to improve upon every game running without flaw and the redump files are the best way to achieve that goal. The redump files are very large files and will consume space very quickly.
That is where the benefit of .CCI comes in. These are compressed and scrubbed conversions, making them nearly 1/3 the normal size while retaining 100% compatibility.

My best guess would DVD Decrypter. I know that’s a program that can extract .iso files into separate audio and video folders.

I hope I can handle that. Def Jam is one of my favourite games ;(

I could be wrong, but I don’t think Cerbios was optimized for full HDD ready compatibility. It’s more tailored to run redumps and compressed .iso

    what to do? :(

    what is DD?

You have to edit the BIOS with EVTool v1.0.9, save a new dot bin file, upload it to your Xbox then flash the updated BIOS to your TSOP. There is no easy on-the-fly fan speed change available with M8plus by editing a configuration file on the Xbox's hard drive.

Alright. This is what I expected. Thanks for the clarification 👍

Or you could use the new cerbios as you can set the fan speed in a config file and it's XBL compatible.

Does Cerbios work with insignia? 😅

  8. Where can I change fan speed?

Since Insignia I flashed my TSOP with EvoX M8+... I used to have iND before...

The problem is, I don't know where to setup the fan speed... I can change it in XBMC4GAMERS but as soon as I start a App or Game it changes back to low speed.

This is not good because I'm useing a different silence fan that needs to run at least with 80% speed to keep the Xbox cooled.

My Xbox HDD is installed with Hexen2020. It has all the other Dashboards and I tried everything... Dashboards from Apps folder, HexenTools folder, C Partition... but it won't work, it won't save the fan speed like it did with iND and his config file.

    Any idea?

  9. I won't touch Stellar till HD+ runs on QLED without any problems....

I know it's not fair to compare Electron Shepherds Analog2HDMI but it works with no problems... doesn't matter which HDMI Cable I use or HDMI Input I take at my TV.

I have four HDMI Cable and only one works for the HD+ only at HDMI Input 3 (eARC)...

It only works flowless on my second and crap old LCD TV... this is really annoying :(

1GHZ Xbox can underclock to 730 mhz and resolve all the compatibility issues with Xbox games. 1.4GHZ Xbox can not underclock this low.
So 1GHZ is better if you look for full compatibility with Xbox games and still have enough power for good emulation.

it's actually no big deal for me. most of them are sports games that I don't play anyways and the very few good titles I can play on my regular xbox.

I'm using my 1.4Ghz all the time. It works like a charm. :)

Thats amazing you were able to get so many to work. I havent even considered doing a cpu mod because i thought i wouldnt get alot of games to play on it. One i am curious about is how well does elder scrolls 3 morrowind work on it? I know you had listed it but wondered how much time you spent in the game after the cpu mod. I read that there are ways to mod morrowind for the xbox as well and i figure this cpu mod could help in making using a modded version of that game even better

Thanks! Morrowind works perfect! Both, english and german version. 720p Patch is awesome as well. Didn't test any other mods for the game yet.

I spent around 1h in the game... not very much but enough to tell it's awesome!

You can check this, there is some footage of Morrowind in 720p.

Nice work, man. I will definitely be referencing this in the future. What sort of PS1 games do you have on there? Howˋs the performance of PS1?

    Depends on the emulator.

PCSX-ReloadedX is greate for Fighting Games. You can basically watch the whole end of the video... of course it's in german but you get some really good footage between

    PCSX-ReloadedX and PCSXbox v23 emulator.

I would recommand PCSXbox v23... sometimes it's even better to turn of the FPS Limit.... but only sometimes.

No worries, Its your choice mate. Just dont bin it.

It's all good. I can totaly understand you and it might sound weird to junk the console even it works and plays well. But I can repair at least two other consols straight aways. 😀

  13. Hey there,

    I finally finished my 1,4Ghz HDD (2TB).

I want to share this list for those who have a 1,4Ghz or 1,5Ghz consol and are working on a HDD as well. It might be not 100% perfect but I'm really proud to have a HDD like this.

Attached is a list of all the content inside.

-686 Games patched, they all work perfect!

-57 Games that run too fast no matter how I patched.

-23 Games that didn't work no matter what.

-You can ignore "Systemlink" it's just a line for the games me and my friends play online most of the time.

-720p patch that worked really good in my opinion! I just kept 720p for those games that work smooth and stable.

-Including Homebrews, Retro Emulators (Full Pack), Ps1 Emulator with over 100 Games and some german exclusive games.

Yes I'm from germany and It was important for me to have some games (RPGS) in german language.

Its Worthless just because you cant go online, Wow that's harsh considering you still have the ENTIRE library of games plus all the emulators etc.... Far from worthless.

Are you in the UK? If so i will buy it from you.

Haha, I don't think so. I can truly say that I repair more consols than junk it. 😉

Xlink Kai and/or Insignia is one of the most important features for a Classic Xbox. All the consols I sell have to work properly, this is how I handle it. Big library plus the ability to play online, thats really important for me.

I also have multiple consols including a 1,4Ghz with skeleton black case ect ect.... but it's not about my consols, it's about a consol that I want to sell to somebody who should be able to play offline and online. 👌

Dude, just because it wont get an ip, that's not a reason to junk it for parts.

You do know you can remote the hdd and do everything need to setup and populate it with games etc on a windows PC now?

yes, of course I do. the consol is pretty much worthless if you can't connect to xlink kai and play online. I junk one and repair three other, thats totaly fine for me.

Bro, CHRIST. Try using different hardware. Just for the sake of doing it. See what happens.

makes no sence if 8 other xbox work on same setup... but I tried and still doesn't work

Probably the same issue as with original post. My guess is the network control chip on the board. Not sure how you could test it but guessing a swap out would work.  Never looked at this but hopefully its separate from the rest of the silicon chipset.

did swap it two times, won't help

I gave up on that thing and use it for spare parts.
