well, I tried using the monster component cables and before going to the gentoox screen, the screen went black lights flashing red and orange and the disc drive ejected..
looking online I saw this:
that was my problem too, used the regular av cables and I was able to flash.
Maybe because is a 1.4 xbox? those have different video chips. maybe a compatibility issue with 1.4 consoles.

No, it will not brick your xbox. after the 5 sec it will ask you to insert a boot disc and close the dvd drive. you can just turn off and on the console to start again. Make sure you are not using a component coble to flash a winbond, you will get a black screen. use regular av cables.

sorry guys it was my mistake. it is working now. The IDE cable was incorrectly connected, (upside down)

Well, I just got the startech adapter and is doing the same thing.. don't know what to do.
Could this be a bad 80 wire cable?

Thanks, I also noticed that the power indicator LED on the adapter is not turning on . The adapter is defective. But yeah when I put the old HDD and original 40 wire cable the console turn on like normal.

Hi Everyone,
I have a Winbond TSOP flashed 1.4 xbox, Using EvoX M8+ F and G bios. Used the Hexen 2018 disc. just upgraded to a WD 2TB HDD. After upgrading I got a black screen.
I put everything back to normal (original HDD) and is working.

After looking at the SATA to IDE adapter, the capacitors looks bad. They have some white stuff.
Could this be the adapter? the adapter is set to master
