The Digital is a better option as the other 2 convert component to HDMI where the MakeMhz is taking the digital signal .
Cheers

Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing. Will this be part of Project Stella when it's released, I'm guessing it will still require soldering either way?

I would think that you will need to source a 230v Euro type PSU and swap it out, its very simple once you have the xbox in bits. Just watch the capacitors are discharged before handling either PSU.

So just another quick question, not a noob but been out of Xbox really since Kodi came around - did CoinOps for a while but nothing of late..
These boards allow wireless controller use? can later XB One type controllers also work?
-
Just another quick question... on the Project Stellar website I read:
- Support for 64MB, 128MB, and 256MB RAM configurations
Is there a 256Mb RAM configuration for Xbox?
Also that the boards memory is addressable by the xbox CPU? - does this mean the additional processing power of the Dual ARM CPU is also accessible?
-
A little off topic - but has anyone installed and used Project Stellar?

Been out of the scene for a long time now but from memory pretty sure MadMartigan is correct.... your current BIOS can not see past 2.5Gb

I admire the work thats gone into it, looks amazing, but does it really gain much over a good 80mm fan, a repaste and some extra heatsinks? as a stock PIII it is running well within heat tolerances on air.

if it weren't then the xbox wouldn't read it at all, would it?
I've had it when it does read parts of the disk and then hung when it reached a part that it couldn't read.

3Tb formatted correctly?

So is the plan to overclock or fit a faster hotter running CPU?
-
Nice work - is it overclocked? or faster CPU?

So just had a look at Project Stellar... I take it this is a mod chip with additional features but does replace what would have been classed as a mod? - sorry been out the scene for a while and amazing how much the xbox has progressed... need to dig out my 1Ghz some day, kinda got put away when XBMC finished development.

Been out of the xbox scene a while now, what exactly are 360i's?
-
Hi Lukas - I've just started looking around at the Xbox scene again, shame to read that you're no longer doing mod work, why did you stop doing them?
I've got no more 1.4Ghz Tualatins I'm afraid! LOL!
All the best

As for the heatsink - try to source a later item as these were fan-less if you are modding your xbox, also whilst you have it apart add the 80 pin IDE cable and possibly an 80mm cooling fan.

I'm guessing TSOP over the softmod?
I honestly can't remember but I dont think 128mb upgrade will work on a softmod?
What are you mainly going to use the Xbox for? 128 RAM is good for emulators and heavy skins in XBMC etc. but will add little to Xbox games unless (again from memory) you patch them to use the extra memory.

You could try - Tutorial - How to softmod the original Xbox in 2021 (Rocky5) | Se7enSins Gaming Community
I've not softmodded in many years but that looks pretty straight forward.

Any news? I'm curious on the HDMI stuff, been away from Xbox for a while and its all changed... HDMI and Overclocking etc...

Just looking around the OG Xbox scene after a few years out and saw your thread...
How did you get on?
I maybe wrong but I seem to remember that Friendtech offered the higher cache 733mhz CPU as an entry level upgrade...
FriendTech DreamX Bravo 128MB Reviewed - XBOX-HQ.COM
Apparently kept OG compatibility whilst adding some extra HP...

Was just checking if this had shipped ... looks like it has.
Any update on what the 256mb RAM support listed on their site is?
