  1. This is very similar to a post I made almost 3 weeks ago that somehow didn’t get a single comment lol. Here

What software version is your HD+?

Have you tried reverting to previous version?

Are you not using an OpenXenium chip with your HD+?

I’ve made some progress, but still getting freezes on two separate consoles. I’m thinking it has more to do with the HD+ not playing nicely with anything but the patched M8 bios. Good to see this post getting some attention because I’m just as curious.

The 24 inch cable to Canada is over $30 cad on Amazon 😒

I have a few new, 80 wire cables lying around. If you want to send me your address in a DM I will see how much it would cost to ship one to you. You’re definitely going to overpay at most places if you’re ordering internationally. Does Canada not have Amazon facilities?

  5. That’s an impossible question to answer. These things are up to 23 years old now. Cap lifespan varies so much due to climate, usage, smokers home, etc. every Xbox is treated differently and a 23 year old cap isn’t long for this world.

I 100% can tell you that any amount of time with leakage on the board is just allowing it to eat through the traces. First thing I do with every Xbox these days, is open them up and replace the caps.

  6. Could be signs of capacitors going bad. I hear some people say it starts to affect the in game graphics. You’re going to want to open that thing up and check the caps’ condition and remove the clock cap for good, if you’re on any revision before a 1.6

So, I thought I ask this time before I do anything stupid:

Now that I have an SATA HDD with Startech adapter and the proper 80 wires ribbon cable, can't I flash a CerBIOS that enables UDMA6? Checking my CerBIOS 2.3.2 Alpha with the Cerbios Tool, I found out that it is UDMA2. Do I flash the UDMA6 version using XBlast OS via boot disc or can I do it via HDD and ftp? And what is the difference to UDMA auto detect (Startech)?

And something else: With the X-Changer bios I was able to boot differently by pressing either the power or eject button. Conveniently, the tray never opend when booting via the eject button. Now, I can also boot to different dashboards depending which button I press. However, when pressing the eject button the tray now opens everytime which is kind of annoying. Is there a way to turn that off?

Thx in advance for any thoughts on that matter!

You can transfer the new bios file to C:bios folder(create it if it’s not there). Then go to Flash Bank and select the bios you want to flash. That’s all you should need to do. I don’t know much about the auto detect mode on Startech. It’s probably” best to leave that alone and just go with the maximum UDMA your drive supports. UDMA5 if you’re not using an ssd.

As for the X-Changer, Xenium chips operate the same way. You can change it to boot instantly to your dash or into xeniumOS, within the Xenium Settings. You’ll want to turn on instant boot and select what bios to boot. Eject should take you to XeniumOS by default.

  8. I’m searching everywhere for a HDD to dvd bracket that fits my needs. I’m fairly new the 3D printing/.stl scene so please send any suggestions. The one that would work perfectly is also using the mounting holes for Nemesis’ LED kit so that’s ruled out.

I did find a 3d print of a custom made fan shroud for the ogxbox at reddit I believe (couldn't find the url). I'll the stl file and a virus total check link. Also look into the maddysudz zip file that I linked above. It has 4 different fan shroud stl files that you can look into.

Just a heads up, the provided .stl file, is not for the fan shroud in the picture. It is for the version that the designer said was not ideal and did not work well. If anyone has the .stl for the the upright fan shroud in the picture, that would be greatly appreciated.

Note: it is the same in Maddy’s provided .stl pack as well. I checked them all and apparently was just labeled incorrectly from the start.

  10. This is what needs to be altered on just the disc tray. I really don’t want to have to modify the part from Nemesis so I’m on the search for something more suitable. Good thing that 3D printing thread got some love this past week.

  11. It has the potential, but is currently not compatible with his kit. I need to do some trimming to the DVD bracket and possibly a little on the hdd housing. Still a work in progress.

I'm more than likely going to need an entirely new setup on the disc drive side.

  12. After hitting so many walls in my recent projects, it’s nice to have at least one idea come to fruition. This has probably been done before, but I’ve never seen it so I thought I’d share my success story.

I have achieved complete IDE elimination with this awesome Startech adapter. Downside is the size of the adapter, but I have a few ideas to make it work. The speeds are really good thus far, but I haven’t done much testing outside of menus. Look past the mess of cables lol.
