It is possible for them to get wonky. It's tough to say whether that's definitely the problem or not. The best test would be to source another board and see if it behaves the same.

Diagnosed with the same issue. It’s not a fix all solution. It could always be as simple as bad capacitors.

I would still try to clean up some of that solder if you have some desoldering braid. There’s just way too much on there. You can also try removing the d0 connection on the chip and grounding it to the pad marked in the picture. Then try to boot with eject. It does seem like the xenium may need reprogramming if you’re 100% sure all the connections are solid.

Did your friend tell you what happened to the console to require this repair? Was it something he did or was it a pick-up? Any more history on the problem might help. If by some chance he tried to flash the Xenium a wrong way, it could require programming again.

Alternatively, you could use the Chimp application to clone a new drive directly from your old one. This could take a good bit of time depending on what's on your older hdd. You'll need a molex y-Splitter for this method.

Regardless of popular belief, I have seen many thrown errors on hard modded consoles. Especially if the hdd is locked to another console, has improper files installed, or simply dying. I find it's always best to start with the simple tests just to rule them out. Instead of immediately jumping to resoldering stuff. We're steering back to a few months ago it seems, by overlooking simple solutions and instantly diving in deep. Im just saying

This is a wonderful post. Thank you for moving it here for others to find more easily.
Edit: I didn’t get down to where you said you solved it on the other thread. This fits even better here now as a single thread. Nobody has to sift through comments. Again, great post

Have you tried simply locking your HDD?

Cop and paste this all into a new thread post. You’ll have this fixed pretty soon. I just don’t want to clutter old posts and a new title could help others find answer in the future.

Depending on the price, I'm sure some ppl here would interested in buying. Myself included. No point in keeping it tucked away if you're not into it. It really all depends on what YOU want to do with it.

It is. Just have to be patient for now.

I've fixed a couple of 1.6 consoles with this method

Fitment issues with thw motherboard holder? This is the first I've seen one of them and now of course I want one. I'm so tired of putting random things under the boards to get them level under the microscope.

They’re also over sea so I imagine it would be something similar. I have not checked on it, personally.

Has anyone used JLC3DP for 3D printing? I want to print the Startech IDE Adapter case and the Xbox motherboard support, but I don't know which 3D Technology and Material to select on the JLC3DP website.
I had a bunch of stuff in my cart on their website and I backed out when they wanted $40+ for shipping.

Wasn’t there a bios at one time (or maybe still) that had the ability to display current temps up in one of the corners of the screen whilst playing a game? Did I imagine that? Lol
Definitely a real thing I've seen in many youtube vids. I most recently saw an lcd temp display on the front of a console. A bit of an eye sore, but a very nice feature.

Did you try to lock the drive after backing up the eeprom to the chip? GoTeamaScotch has provided some great info and I'm assuming you mean that you tried a known working, "40 pin IDE" cable.
What do you mean by all clients are empty during FTP? You should be able to log right into the drive using Filezilla. If you're using the correct settings and IP address.

Question about Power/Eject Board.

Very possible it's just the board and not trace rot. Best to test before jumping to conclusions.
