This is an absolute beauty.
Did you change plans along the way and went for a higher case than originally intended, or why did you bend down all replacement capacitors?

2) can an XBOX360 run classic isos ? Should they be used in ISO-packed formats or can the same Hard Disk be used to load them with a (modded, maybe) Xbox360 ?
Equipped with an xk3y, yes, many of them (Redump ISO on external HD).Otherwise, you'll need the original game discs (and you can't even install them on the 360's hard disk to reduce laser wear, AFAIK).

Depending on the calling convention, you might need to do a "ret 8". Or declare it as extern "C" { __cdecl int addme(int, int); } to be dead sure it doesn't use __stdcall or __fastcall, whatever the configured compiler options might be.
And what you can always do: tell the compiler to emit an assembly output (/Fc, if memory serves me right) and check whether it emits "add sp,8" after the call to _addme. If not, your assembler code has to do it.

Oh, and you need something like that to get the chip out of its socket in a safe fashion.

You got the other modded XBox which boots with its Aladdin. Right?
If so, check whether the Flash chips are the same on both machines (49LF020A, presumably).
If so, you can take out the bricked chip of the Crystal XBox, boot the other modded XBox, then take out the Flash chip there while it's running, insert the bricked one and flash it to a good BIOS (for the 1.6 XBox, that is) using Evolution-X. Then take out the (hopefully) unbricked chip, insert it in the Crystal XBox Aladdin and enjoy the result.
A bit hairy for my taste ... back in the 2000's, I had a programmer for the parallel port (Andy Green's Milksop design) for that purpose. Today, I use GALEP-III and IV programmers with a PLCC adapter for the XBox flash chips. Makes life much easier (but that would be a rather costly option for just one badly flashed 49LF020A).

... and where are you? At least the continent would be helpful

I lost a battle today ... kind of
As said in another topic, I'd like to play with that as well.
So I bought a "defective" fat 360 for 5€. Full package, including original packaging, documentation, PSU, ethernet cable, composite/component cable ... which was a nice bonus, as the original ad showed only the XBox 360 itself. It was sold as dead...only that it wasn't. The previous owner talked about RROD, but when I turned it on, it simply worked ... but after some time started to increase the fan speed, so clearly ventilation problems. Today I opened it up, cleaned it thoroughly and put it back together, then put it through the paces a bit - no more excessive fan noise, no problems at all (except for the DVD drive belt, which obviously needs some care). Monday, I'll let it run for some hours, just to be sure, but it looks like removing 10 spoonfuls of dust was all it needed.
So now I have another working XBox 360 and still no wireless board to play with

Hmmm. Maybe a bit unclear. I was referring to I changed the cooling paste on the GPU and CPU didn't do anything. in response to your "have u replaced the thermal paste on the gpu? if u haven't, then don't."

In the original post, he said he did.

Still waiting for a video from someone who didn't get a pre-modded XBox for review purposes, but did this on his/her own.

If it's cxbx-reloaded ... well. IMO, it's not worth the hassle. Last time I tried it (about 2 months ago), it was an utter disappointment that wouldn't play any of the games I threw at it.

SOLVED!
Finally success in loading those 3 games. Had to build iso from directories, burn and than use dvd2xbox and everything works great.
Every other game ftp's easily as is exept these three, if anybody knows why i would like to know too LoL
Make sure all FTP transfers are binary. "Automatic" can lead to quite unexpected results, especially when using a Windows FTP client.

As far as I can see, it should not rely on the softmod after all the magical incantations have been done.
-
At least according to this here (for Ninja Gaiden), it doesn't look all too easy, but might work.
-
Ahm ... if I interpret that right, then what you "found" is the set of files you need if you want to have an Aladdin board manufactured. That's nothing to do with the BIOS you flash onto the 49LF020.
-
Because it has a tendency to run out - and the stuff ruins the motherboard.

But, TBH, I would recommend using an original Duke controller on the OG XBox. Apart from the flashy little screen, the Hyperkin Duke has nothing to offer that exceeds the original's capabilities - on the contrary, it only has digital buttons, where the original has analog ones. Some games rely quite heavily on that (my beloved Sega GT 2002, for example).
-
As I already wrote here, I tried this about 4 weeks ago. Worked instantly and flawless. So, yes, the current firmware for the OGX360 can handle the Hyperkin Duke. Also, I only connected to the XBox port 1, so the power consumption is a non-issue. It just says it needs 500 mA; it doesn't really need it.

Oooooh, now that is interesting. I got two OGX360 and at least one dead XBox360 here. Guess this winter will see me tinkering

- S-Video connection (I am not sure why he did this, because afaik component is better, right?)
You can't tell when he did this and which TV and cable set he had at that time. To me, the time of CRT TVs with SCART and S-Video inputs is like yesterday, for example
-
Easier and cheaper to buy a complete Crystal XBox, then. Ebay lists quite some ... although many seem to be located in GB, which will presumably become uninteresting for Europeans after December 31.
-
You might want to try to change the cable.

The 1.6 can be softmodded (in fact, this "other" one obviously is); I presume you meant that it can't be TSOP-flashed, which is true.
And yes, you should be able to do as planned if you can determine the HDD key of the newly repaired xbox.
