Good info! Its giving me the 50% Green 50% red flash from what I can tell. Literally all I did was remove the clock cap. It did have a modchip in it (A green pcb one) Ill have to snap a picture of it once I open it again. Maybe best bet it to install one of these 2.6's in the 1.0 xbox. Right now I am just happy I have a working one (my crystal 1.6 with the aladdin chip and the dvd drive from the 1.0)

The xbox with the dead drive I had to replace is a 1.6 with an aladdin chip I installed (I redid the LPC). My parents actually sent me some of my OOOOOLD college stuff and these were in there Would these be better than the aladdin I have in my 1.6 now? These things worth anything? I also have another 1.0 xbox but like I said before It died after I removed the clock cap and only really have 1 working dvd drive now haha

Just checked my crystal drive is actually a samsung one! It ejects and spins disks just fine, just wont boot from that dang disk drive. I popped it into my 1.0 xbox and same thing. Frag when installed..... Such a shame because I literally cant find any DVD drives alone on ebay at all. Also, found these in my OLD childhood xbox drawer.... Ideas on identifying these mod chips?

Absolutely doing this!! Thank you!! This will be great to not have the power LED on when the unit is off. Would you happen to have any info in dvd drive repair? The disk drive in my crystal xbox frags with error 7 any xbox I put it in Had to repair this current one with a Thompson drive from another xbox. Every hear of dvd drives causing this? Thanks !

And of course, just short hitting the power button to turn the console off and short hitting it again to turn it back on again works perfectly. Its only IGR when set to "full reset compatibility mode"

Hey Kaos. Sorry for the late reply. I always have it on always on mode. I did that solder connection when I installed it. The bright red light on the chip is always on. Looks like it was a BIOS issue but still cannot get the chip to do the full IGR reset without fragging. Short reset works but full doesnt.

Yup no ER's at all. I even tried with a fresh HDD. Much smaller (120gb IDE all going to F) BUT IGR is working if a set the BIOS to the quick one that doesn't do a full reset and just kicks you back into the dash. I spoke incorrectly in that the first game I tested froze when doing that does indeed have documented issues with IGR. Tons of other work just fine which is good!

Ok SS_DAVE cooking with Gas now thank you! Your raincoat app was able to work perfectly! I verified that it was picking up the right BIOS because I changed the color of the Xbox LED BUT.. No dice. On the compatible long IGR, it reboots the xbox then FRAGS. On the short IGR option, it just pops it to a blank screen. Looks like maybe there is no solution for Aladdin chips with EVOX running 1.6 IGR? ** Scratch that. Some games seem to be working. It just kicks it back to the unleashX or Evox screen which is perfectly fine!

Same result.... neither C:\bios nor E:\bios picked up anything when I boot into evox dash and go "xbox admin>system/flash BIOS"

Ok so created a folder called "bios" on my E: Popped the 256k bin inside of it. Switched to the evox dash and went to system "flash BIOS" and nothing..... Confirmed that the file is in E bios folder but it doesnt seem to pick up the .bin file at all as an option Any ideas?

Oh nice! Sorry I thought there was an app, didn't know you could do it with a tool literally built in haha. Ok stand by for results!

Thanks guys and I want to try the new BIOS but unsure how to flash without the disk. On the Hexxen disk he has the app and BIOS's built in. I can FTP the BIOS over no problem but how do I flash from the xbox itself? Thanks!

I used the Hexxen 2019 disk and I have a 1TB hdd. I use the partitioner to have I think like 128gb of the F: and the rest on G:

Awesome! So last question before I try this tonight. Do I need a flashing app? I know it was stated that you can flash the bios from the dash but the only apps I have are the default apps that install from the hexen disk. I flashed the initial bios from the hexen disk so not sure how to do it without. Any help appreciated! What a great community here guys!

Ok so to answer everyones questions: The modchip is this: (Ximimark Aladdin XT-4032 Machine Readable Original Mod Chip Suitable for XBOX1) You can search that on Amazon. Its the Red chip. The Dash is the regular one that Hexen disk installs by default when you set up a new HDD. I didnt change the dash or skin. I used the Hexen disk to boot and flash the chip with the 256k 1.6 F AND G bios. So what bios would that be on the disk for that chip? I cant get the bios off the ISO because its in the xbox file system. For the second question, yes. The OG V1.0 xbox worked perfectly fine before I removed the clock capacitor Thanks for any help everyone!

So I am using the 256k f plus g bios on the Hexen disk. There a better bios to use? Also can you please expand where the IGR settings are? I use a evtool app? Thanks!

Hey guys! So 2 quick questions here. Recently got my 1.6 with the red modchip installed, flashed and working with F and G on a new hdd. Works great. Problem is when I do the 2 triggers plus back and start to reboot, it frags. Power down and back up again and we are golden. Any ideas? Also. Got a v1.0 Xbox and removed the clock capacitor.l for safety. After I removed it the Xbox refused to boot anymore. Literally does the reboot 3 times then frags thing. Any thoughts? thanks!

Yeah just don’t have a spare Xbox so trying to find one. Seems like just the spare drives are more expensive than whole new consoles Just wondering if anyone has seen a dvd drive causing frags?

Hey all! 1.6 crystal Xbox here with an aladdin chip. My Xbox fragged with error 7 so I assumed my HDD (softmod) was dead. So I got an aladdin, redid the LPC of course and got it to boot with the purple logo! Same thing though. Narrowed it down to the DVD drive. Whenever the disk drive is connect to both IDE and power, the XBOX with either FRAG with error 7 or if I just connect power it will just boot loop the blue xbox logo over and over. Samsung drive. Assuming its just a dead drive? Anyone hear of this? Any way to repair or do I just grab a drive from another xbox? Thanks!

Awesome! I just see there are a TON of warnings when using these dash install disks about softmodding but maybe I am assuming they are for flashed consoles and not just softmodded (1.6's) right? Thanks for the info! ** oh and what I meant about the BIOS is the chip firmware itself. Ya know, the bios on the chip to support the Extra G drive and all that. Thanks!!

Hi Friends! I have a Crystal 1.6Xbox that was softmodded and had chimp upgrade the HDD to a 250GB IDE. At one point in time I also zeroed out the HDD key as well. Well, the HDD died (can hear it clicking) and the xbox wont boot (boots to error code) I want to go ahead and nuke the softmod, throw away the HDD and go hardmod. I have the Alladin chip and will be doing the soldering (and the rebuild). Guess my question is: Once I have the mod chip working and booting, I flash the chip with the 256 bios VIA Hexen disk.... then what..... do I have to remove the softmod somehow? Should I still have the old HDD installed? Just want to make sure the softmod doesnt do anything bad as I am setting up the new hard mod. Any help appreciated!
