Hi, three capacitors that goes to the processor are bulging badly... red things on top etc..
Which caps are best to use? Which uF and volt for them?
-
When I put in the CD on a brand new harddrive it says unleash... Do you want to prepare the new hd. f, g drive etc.. Press yes on everything?

When you XBox 1.6 boots with an 1.2 Bios just because you hase changed the HDD something different is wrong. Go and flash an EvoX m8 1.6 bios to your chip. There is one which boots XBMC4Gamers. AND there is also NO iND bios for an 1.6.
NEXT TIME ASK BEFORE YOU DO SHIT ! And yea, sry for the caps but for real, 1) Winbond TSOP 2). iND Bios on an 1.6... I'm speachless, for real.
yea, but the xbox boots up and works if I put in the old harddrive. I installed xbox4gamers as dashboard and set up the new hd at the start. but i think the xbox is stuck with the old hd harddrive serial right?

An XBox 1.6 dosn't has a TSOP. How ever, both are 256kb bios files. Problem, you has flashed an XBox 1.2 - 1.5 bios to to your Aladdin. You could recorver the SST if you have a flasher or a second XBox which also has an Aladdin. Then you could perform a hotflash and put an 1.6 bios on the SST even you hotflash it on an 1.2 (for example). After the hotflash remove the SST without tuning on the XBox an put it back in yur 1.6. Problem solved.
Next time, ASK if you are unsure! And some other point. I'm pretty sure you used my DVD. There are "Information" links everywhere. Why don't you read them?
It works now again if i put in the old harddrive. But If I put in the new harddrive bios just shows up and nothing happens. I installed xbmc4xbox as dashboard. hd key problem? doesnt it fix it automatically?

My xbox is now dead after pressing the TSOP 256...
-
I have a Xbox 1.6 , BIOS is protected. Inside there is a Alladin chip. Flashing TSOP/Winbond 256 kb just fails when trying.
I want to install IND.Bios but doesnt seem to work?
-
Any fix for the snes install? Doesnt work.
-
So I installed a new 80 GB Ide harddrive, all capacitors look in good condition , will try this soon.
-
Looks nice, will try it tomorrow.

You're right Koas. Rocky5 has described the main differnces in a topic I'm to lazy to search for right now. For chip/tsop users it mainly makes no differences.
I can do different things with the PBL version. Some examples what is different so far on the PBL version:
- When shutting off the XBox, the DVD tray opens and give you the chance to remove the DVD and in the same moment your cache drives get formatet and then the console shuts down. (That's not possible this way without knowing which bios you use (on some it wouldn't work at all). So i use the PBL version to do so.
- When you format your drive with XBPartitiononer and quit it, you get back to the Installer instead of getting kicked to the fresh installed dashboard from where you would have to re-load the installer if you want to install other things. Same for all other "live apps" you find on the installer. You would always get kicked out to a dashboard,
- And ofc like Kaos already has said, if you have a F only bios, I can by pass that with the PBL and format F and G regardless of your bios. You would not see the G drive when you boot your XBox from the HDD with your F only bios. But if you would boot again from the DVD it would be still there.
- And softmodder could use the PBL in case they have problems with there system booting up (They see things which they normaly don't see). But here I would recommend, like always, Rocky5 softmodding tool to such things.
So you see not much of a difference at all and if, it's just a "nice to have" gimmick for the most part. How ever, since I have 4 versions right now, 2 public and 2 privat builds, I guess that I will drop 2 versions in the long run. That said, I will probably drop the non PBL version at some point (bug fixes only if needed then) and marge the 2 privat builds so that only 2 are left to maintain.
But a lot of it also depends on how much frinds OGXBox installer can find. For now the feedback I got is pretty good but, I would say it's way to early to tell so, let's wait and see what happends. It's out of my hand now and depends only on the community I'm listen too. So time will tell i guess. :)
Can you create a youtube video want to see how it works?

You can see the temp of your HDD but to my knowlege there isn't any dashboard which can show you the spin up time or health of your HDD (just temp). You could attach it to your PC (if it's unlocked) to check the full smart status of your HDD.
All of the EvoX m8 bioses on this disc are noDVD bioses. And Xecuter and iND didn't care about the DVD as well. Which you should use depends on what console version you have and whcih dashboard you plan to use.
I am going to try this, got a new ide harddrive with alladin modchip . PBL or without?
-
Can you check HD health with the dashboard? I.e how many times started etc?
Do you know any bios I could use which turns off laser-check on boot?
-
I checked my motherboard and a capacitor is not straight up, it´s like bent a little. Is that a problem? It´s not pointing straight forward up, a little bent..

Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.Maxtor 6Y160PO

That's strange I modded my San Andreas and I don't have that problem but I can see GTA San Andreas potentially being more intense on the console
Is it possible to check HD health in xbox somewhere? cant find it in xbmc4xbox dash?
-
Hi,
I just downloaded GTA San Andreas to Xbox and ftped it over to the xbox.
When playing it the hd makes noise all the time? No problems in the game but it is usual with so much sound?
I tried Call of Duty on the Xbox and it does not make any noise when playing.

My 2 xboxes 1 GHZ + 128 MB Ram and original 1.6 runs at 40ish idle.

Have you tried patching the xbe with the 1ghz patcher app? It's not a waste of money at all, other emulators benefit from the extra ram such as mame for example
Yeah, I tried Pcsxbox and you can clearly see an improvement in Resident Evil, it´s running more stable.

Oh, the 1 GHZ Xbox was on PAL mode so changed to NTSC mode and now the SNES Emulator has 60/60 fps.

If you buy these, make sure the capacitors are replaced in the deal. I bought mine from n64freak about 1 year ago, maybe used it at little as 10 hours. Capacitors for the processor are bulging badly!
