  1. I want to copy large amounts of data from one Xbox OG HDD directly to another by connecting them both on a PC with two P-ATA channels. With the older XboxHDM 1.9 and 2.2a (which are essentially Linux distro's supporting FATx booted from CD) I can mount the F-partition of both drives using "mount -t fatx /dev/hda55 /media/source" & "mount -t fatx /dev/hdc55 /media/dest". But the problem is that these versions show corrupted file names. But with XboxHDM23USB all the file names are correct. I can even use both of my drives if I launch it manually. But because it's running in QEMU the copying is very slow Now the FATx driver is in the kernel and 1.9 and 2.2a uses the same kernel. Only 2.3USB has a newer kernel, maybe that's where the problem is. So I wanted to boot this 2.3USB version on real hardware. I took the "kernel" and "initrd.gz" and tried booting it using ISOLINUX and PXELINUX, but it just stuck at "Uncompressing Linux... Ok, booting the kernel.". How can I make the kernel and initrd.gz from XBoxHDM23USB booting on real hardware? With 1.9 and 2.2a on real hardware all filenames are corrupted: With 2.3USB it works, but is very slow because it runs in QEMU: But I can't get the 2.3USB version to boot on real hardware using ISOLINUX of PXELINUX:
  2. I’m attempting to fix a friends unmodded 1.0 Xbox with a dead HDD (error 7). I’ve successfully extracted the EEPROM using PiPROM and prepared a new IDE HDD with FATXplorer. However I’m having trouble locking the replacement Seagate ST3320620A IDE HDD which according the Xbox Hard Drive Compatibility Chart supports locking. Initially I used an IDE to USB adapter but XboxHDM23USB Beta 3 and 4 complained about an unknown USB chipset. I then tried a StarTech PATA2SATA3 IDE to SATA adapter which progressed a little further but still fails with “ATA SECURITY SETPASS failed: scsi error aborted command”. The output from XboxHDM23USB Beta 4 shows that the HDD is in the frozen state which I believe prevents unlocking/locking. If this is causing the failure, how can I unfreeze the HDD? Can I use some other utility such as hdparm to lock the HDD?
  3. I've tried several different usb to sata devices even plugged in the HDD to my main sata's PSU port using sata to usb and have tried to unlock the HDD however it just spews out error 121 ATA is disabled, I'm hoping someone out there knows a fix around. I've tried chimp also with failure to unlock and ide 80gb HDD. Would it be best to leave HDDs unallocated while using xboxhdm23usb? Also does it normally take some time building the drive? When I try to just go ahead and run xboxhdm it just lags out at creating sectors. Sorry if this is the wrong board new here would appreciate any advices. I'm using beta 4.
