    The format of CCI means they can add extra data, without breaking legacy readers and new readers would be able to use that data. Another benefit is its index table is later in file, meaning it can dynamically split into two halves. And since it uses LZ4, not so much code is needed to decompress, which gives you more space for other features in bios. And also LZ4 is faster to decompress.

    Well, check the folders:

    Cerbios V2.2.0 Beta (MAIN FOLDER)

    Cerbios Hybrid V2.20 BETA UDMA2 (SUB FOLDER 1)

    256kb (SUB FOLDER 2/1)

    bios (SUB FOLDER 3/1)

    bios.bin

    512kb (SUB FOLDER 2/2)

    bios (SUB FOLDER 3/2)

    bios.bin

    1024kb (SUB FOLDER 2/3)

    bios (SUB FOLDER 3/3)

    bios.bin

    Same layout for UDMA4 and UDMA5.

    The main reason is that you can use these right away with XBlast and the Winbond TSOP.

    And it makes my life easier when adding these to the OGXBox USB Flasher and the OGXBox Installer. So there is no need to copy a file, rename it blablabla. Just unrar to C:\ and done.

    And if you don't like it, you are free to download the original pack from XBins. :)

    Sure, people can rename them or people can download them from Xbins instead, like you said. And I get you're the one who's taking the time to do it, so not trying to give you a hard time here or anything (thanks by the way.)

    Oh and I get why that tree makes sense for the various installers. From a programmatic and convenience standpoint, it makes sense. Plus, since you're the one doing two installers, I assume it makes it convenient to share it here the same way you do for both of those.

    That said, I do wish the files were named descriptively, particularly for those times where the files end up sitting in C:\Bios\ on the console (vs only ever living on an installer disc or in their original zip / named folders.)

    Coming across a console with C:\Bios\bios.bin and saying, "hmm, I wonder what this bios.bin is?" and having to go, "oh well, guess we'll never know" and then deleting it, because it's basically unknown garbage at that point seems, well, less than ideal.

    Just thinking about the future people (or future us) who come across all this stuff and wonder what the heck bios.bin was, that's all. Of course, it's not a big deal, but I'd argue that's a two way street and keeping the files named accordingly seems the better of the two streets, if you will.

    Anyway, I digress.

    And like always....

    Cerbios Xbox Bios V2.2.0 BETA Released (1.0 - 1.6)

    The pack contains UDMA2/4/5 and each as 256kb/512kb/1024kb already packed in a folder "bios" and renamed to "bios.bin" so it's ready to flash.

    Have fun.

    Is there any reason to rename the bios to bios.bin? It's nice knowing what bios was used; the version number etc. If not for the current user, the next one.

    Would this overclocking stick through launching anything though? Like emulators or whatever?

    Maybe. Just depends. I had some success testing between dashboards and a couple apps, but I didn't test much more than that; mostly just to see if it actually worked or not. I'm not sure IGR will work. You'd need to overclock the traditional way if you wanted more "stick".

  5. Just got my ArdPromSD. It arrived packaged very well in a black bubble bag, small box with a thank you sticker on it and thank you tissue paper inside and sliced cardboard padding on the bottom and the chip was inside an anti-static bag and although I haven't tested it yet, I'm confident it will work, as it has a QC Passed sticker on it lol. Looks like fine craftsmanship too. Thanks Dtomcat18!

    That's not it.  This script fixes games on a v1.6 Xbox that have a scrambled screen when you try to play them at 480p or higher resolutions with a high-definition cable (component video out) or an HDMI adapter.

    Ah I see, thanks for the assist.

    Is this what you're looking for?

    Settings (black button) > Skin Settings > Scripts > Run - 480p Game Loaders Script?

    The buttons are probably less than needed these days as most of us just install a Bios and live with it some one updates it.  Its far from the old days of needing to test Bios and not brick your box or get it banned fro. Xboxlive.

    I hear there is still bios testing going on in 2022.

    Thank you. So far it is.  Waiting on more stuff to ensure everything works (add on usb board and reset button to ensure you can upload firmware). Then I’ll test on my 1.0 board (vanilla… not modded in anyway… LPC holes still filled with solder)

    I'm interested in seeing that and how you'll be hooking it up without the pin header.

    Edit: just to be certain I just tested in 720p and got the same issues with part of the start menu and background being cut off you described. I fixed it by going into the MS dash turning on 720p then turning off 480p and 1080i , left on normal mode. I now get the proper screen size.

    Oh good thought. I always have 1080i turned off, but 480p is for sure turned on.  I'll test and report back here shortly.

  11. Yeah, it failed once on a tar error again for me as well, but I did get in and was able to use the GUI. Background image didn't paint in full, only the top half and the dock at the bottom isn't all there and windows go out of screen at the top. This seems to be an issue in most of the Linux distros for Xbox, where you can't see everything on the screen.

    I think with a couple more touches it will be a nice little distro, though, so thanks for putting out there for us!

  12. I forgot to mention that I get stuck in different places when using xromwell vs gentoox. Not sure it matters right now, but can post up the spots (errors) if you want that info at some point.

    That was just my initial testing to see if one worked and the other didn't.

    I'll just stick to the latest xromwell to stay in sync, though.

  13. The autolaunch is set and theoretically should launch a game when insterted.

    The DVDPlayer value there is often just the original dashboard dvd player app, the one for playing DVD movies and such.

    Here is the same lines from Rocky5 EvolutionX evox.ini

    AutoLaunchGames = No
    AutoLaunchDVD = No
    DVDPlayer = "c:\xboxdash.xbe"
    AutoLaunchAudio = No

    I think most likely you are having an issue with the physical DVD drive itself. Perhaps try putting a disc in and powering down, then powering up and see if it auto-launches. You might need to take it apart and clean it. Or get another one, these are often the first things to go on the old consoles.
