yeah that is my bench test cable. It was really cheap.
It will *almost* close in a case without an upper shield. I mean... if you are waaaaaaay observant and know what it it supposed to look like you see it across the room. Otherwise if you don't look close it is not noticeable.

In the last month have got a Halo box w/ 2 green controllers and basic cables for $200, as well as a Crystal bundle that included a MS component cable unexpectedly for $220 (even still had the matching warranty card, but no box). I also grabbed a basic bundle for $65 and a working mobo HDD combo for $40. All prices were after shipping and tax. The stuff is out there, you just need to be patient and be ready to grab what is reasonable as soon as you see it.
Good luck!

Make sure you swap your IDE cable to an 80 wire cable as well. Adapters don't play nice with stick 40 wire cables, in my experience. Pretty much any 2 port IDE cable will work, but if you want a drop in replacement Xenium Mods makes a custom 80 wire that matches the OEM size and connector lay out. A bit more pricey but looks great if your case is clear.

Okay, I dunno who the hell RedHerring32 is, but this pisses me off. He's referring to the fact that CerBIOS is based on a hacked version of the MS bios... Aren't they ALL? "Wildly different than what the patches were written for." Well,lah-de-dah. Wouldn't want to taint your reputation by allowing for the support of a TWENTY YEAR OLD PIECE OF FRIGGIN' FIRMWARE that MS probably couldn't care less about at this point. Isn't the M8 a hacked version of the MS bios? IT has an HD+ patch available. So why does IT get one and CerBIOS doesnt? What's the difference? Why does anything have to be "written" differently? This sounds like bullshit.
I really only grabbed RedHerring's post because Dustin (MakeMHZ) hasn't directly stated that there is no plan for support but he has made a few dismissive jokes about people using Cerbios. RedHerring is the guy who reversed the NES and made the OpenTendo. He has helped with the HD+ work from what I gathered and is a verified installer. He has pretty solid info most of the time.
My guess is that reverse engineered > post release leak > pre release leak is the logic with that statement, just a guess. Could be wrong, but that was how I took it. Depending on how early the leak was, and what the "bugs" were that are being referenced, there could be pretty major changes. It would also explain a little better why the same patches would not work for Cerbios.
While I agree with you 100%, we seem to only make up a small chunk of people who want both lol. Maybe there comes a day MakeMHZ writes a patch but I expect the solution to eventually come from a community member.

Seems that Stellar is going to support Titan but not Cerbios... I hope that not the case as this will result in fragmenting of an already small community.
There is little hope these two communities will come together without a third party... for various reasons.

I wonder if you could just use OGXHD without any custom hex editing? I never even thought of that, but it's still an .xbe just like any other.
I'm not in a place where I could try it, or I would right now.
That's that I was thinking too, but haven't started playing with OGXHD yet to know any of the limitations.
It will be cool if it just patches like anything else!

The Xbox dashboard just always runs in 480p regardless of what your A/V settings are. Getting it to run in 720p would require hex editing the dashboard XBE (or making a new build...).
The CerBios team released a modified boot animation XBE that was altered to run in 720p, but that does not affect the Xbox dashboard that loads after.
Has anyone actually edited a MS dash xbe for 720p and had it work? The theory makes sense but how hard is it to accomplish?

Thank you!!!
So from what I'm understanding, I should replace the cap, but the frag may remain afterwards?
I ended up finding my old Aladdin XT+ from before the current run of fakes. Put that in the 1.6 and flashed EvoX with compatibility with my HD from the 1.0. Now I'm using it as a backup until I get my first one running.
Edit: I just ordered a bag of 10v Kyocera caps and also 6.3v Kemets. I also put a $15 bid on a dead board on ebay for spare parts. I'm getting this thing running one way or another lol.

That explains the wonky reading from my 1.6 that I contemplated cannibalizing. I was getting 26.2~26.8 ohm and was too tired and pissed off to think it was anything else.
While I don't expect this... do you know the footprint? I didn't measure yesterday and am too new to electronic repair to eyeball it. It would be awesome if I can figure this out without being home. I want to order some before I get off work.

I was previously aware that there was a difference between the two file types, but never looked into it. I am currently falling into a hole about LZMA and BCJ2 lol.

That did the trick. This is the first time I have ever used Windows to transfer anything for my Xbox. At home 7zip is default.
Lol, that's what I get for messing around at work I guess

I am attempting to play my Greg Hastings backup from my storage and am getting a black screen.
I understand there is a fix for this, but am unable to locate it. Is there anyone who can point me in the right direction? TIA!

I am a diehard xbox fan. I have owned xboxes since the early 00's and just last week finished my first hardmod. Looking forward to utilizing the great info here!

It looks like hard drive is no good. If you have a USB to IDE converter try to plug it in and read it with fatxplorer.
Edit: have you tried booting into all the different bios options on the chip?
