Indeed. I was part of that 250 they posted about. Online now, gamertag "Bowlsnapper."... and getting my ass HANDED to me in CounterStrike. 😛

    I'm a happy panda.

I can add friends in the game, but not in the dash. That a known issue?

Hell yeah! I'm glad you're in!!!

There are known issues for friends, but i can't recall the details. If I see anything I will let you know.

I'm having issues connecting my X3 box. I have made sure that the chip isnt blocking live in the X3 bios settings. Have also tried using evox bios. I managed to run through the setup and get an account up and running on this box no worries but when I go into a game it tells me the console cannot connect.

    Anyone got any ideas??

@Natetronndid a really good explanation of what is needed. If it is not here, I know he posted it on their discord server. If I find it later I will share the link!

Edit: what bios are you using?

No you're not understanding. I had a 120GB ide hdd and cerbios udma4 as bios.

There has never been a UDMA 4 version of Cerbios released. In release 2.0.2 you could choose from Debug UDMA 5, Debug, Retail UDMA 5, and Retail. The non-UDMA patched binaries of Cerbios default to the system default UDMA 2. Do you know what revision of Cerbios you started on?

I swapped the drive with a 2TB seagate barracuda, startech adapter and 80 wire ide cable. After that i put the ogxbox installer 2021 1.5.4 in the dvd drive and it just hanged at the cerbios dogs logo and shortly after E07.

Interesting that you received an error 07. That is a "Harddrive never left busy state" error that is normally caused bad a bad connection to the drive (or low quality IDE to SATA, but StarTech is good). Did you happen to try any investigation of the connection before changing to your old HDD?

I putted in the previous hdd and the xbox and the disc booted fine then I just flashed the m8+ bios, prepared the drive with truhexen 2021 (ogxbox installer gone in a loading loop with the blank hdd but at least m8+ tried to boot it) and then flashed cerbios udma5 that is still working properly.

What version of Cerbios are you on now, 2.0.2 Retail UDMA 5 or 2.0.3R UDMA 5?

My drive check in the ini file is mode 1 legacy nodvd but with a completely blank drive I don't know what's defaulting to.

Wait, am I understanding this correctly? You were still using your old bios, placed a new (unformated) HDD in your xbox, and then tried to boot to a flash disk?

    4 hours ago, Lisko said:

In the old drive (ide maxtor 120GB) I had a classical CEF partition table. I just bought the new drive from amazon, (with startech ide2sat2 and an 80 wire cable) put that in the Xbox and cerbios was unable to boot even from the optical drive. M8+ instead booted the disc without problems.

When you say m8 booted the disk, was m8 your existing bios before Cerbios?

What error did you receive when the boot failed?

Did you ever get the Cerbios dogs logo to show at boot?

I know that the us release are the best but they lack other languages and it's why it's a shame that repackinator doesn't support pal releases. Most pal games on an ntsc Xbox output in 480p but some needs patches.

While not automated, you should be able to find solutions to most of your patching needs. Details are helpful if you run into issues patching anything in particular. Then we may be able to assist with specific fixes.

What I hadn't like of this bios is that when I upgraded my hard drive to a 2tb seagate barracuda and startech ide2sat2 if the hdd is completely blank from factory, cerbios didn't boot from the dvd drive. I had to temporarily use the old drive, flash m8+, boot true hexen, format, reflash cerbios and rewrite the partition table. Now I'm happily using the udma5 version without problems. But a respectable custom bios should be able to install a new drive without pc or another bios. Another little bug it's when soft resetting with igr cerbios seems to reboot two times prior to going back to the dash. A part from these little things it's a great bios, I only miss an option to force 480p.

What is your drive check setting in your ini file? I have put swapped quite a few drives at this point (SATA, IDE, and virtual Xemu) around in Cerbios environments  and have not had issues.

What was your partition table set to before the change?

Also, use US games. Almost all of them are native 480p which negates the need for bios level force 480p. That is why Repackinator is based on the US game set.

Calipers... aren't there like, 3d scanners? That's money, though. Calipers are cheap.

Eject issue? Adapter goes on the yellow molex cable?

Yeah, I have calipers already and only really need the dementions of the post holes and can then remix one of the free files already out there. I'm not trying to reinvent the wheel lol.

Yes to the adapter on the molex. Technically this kit is designed to relocate your HDD over the mobo to allow fans to be installed over the PSU. Thats cool and all, but 32tb of storage is cooler. (It may, in fact, be hotter once im done 😂)

Question is: what can you even do with 32tb or storage on an OG? Much beyond 4tb is incredibly hard to fill. Not knocking it though, nature abhors a vacuum and hopefully people will find ways of utilising the storage.

Hopefully it kicks off a renaissance in using the OG as a media player; I managed to watch a few downscaled blu-rays after carefully tweaking their encoding but it was kind of a headache. Great picture and sound quality though. If someone could make the process of encoding stuff easier, I could see more people using this kind of storage.

If you run the entire unique library of around 1045 games as full ~7gb as full ISO you need a 8-10tb HDD just to hold the OX library. I personally have another 1.2tb of retro roms and emulators in my build. I plan to use the rest of the space as onsite backup for my media server. All my important stuff has a cloud backup, but I can't justify payimg to stire ~5tb of movies and music. I haven't been able to justify purchasing another large storage solution recently and this will be a great option. I have seen others share ffmpeg downscaling solutions that they claim have worked but haven't tried any myself yet.

  6. I picked this one up from Nemisis when I got my last XeniumICE package from him. I haven't asked him yet if he would share the file for the caddy after purchase. I'm probably going to spend some time with Blender and some calipers if he doesn't want to share 😉.

It also came with an adapter for the DVD drive plug to fix the eject issue on non-Cerbios no-dvd fixes. I don't regret the purchase.

  7. Active but not fully supported yet. The devs are still pretty tight lipped on how it works still. Hoping they release info once the next fatxplorer beta releases with dual HDD tools.

I already have a dual HDD caddy ready for when they release the info 🤣

  8. There have been quite a few "retro re-shell" projects that I have seen crowd funded in the last year. Have you ever considered trying that route? I know I would back for high quality molded cases.

I mean, the going rate for a OEM blue shell is like $400-$500 right now so I assume there is a market for good replicas.

For some reason, IDE drives are over twice the price of an equivalent sized SATA drive. I might as well just get a SATA drive and a startech adapter. Anybody tried the dual HDD feature yet?

And for god's sake, how do I mount isos in Cerbios? Lol.

And loud as a motherfucker too lol

  10. That's what I thought.

The running theory is 2.0.3R blocks MACS for some reason. Once the machine account has been built everything is good. The machine account resides in the config area of the HDD from address 0x0000000 to 0x00080000. Assuming this therory is correct, anytime you put a new HDD in you need to run MACS to connect to Insignia initially. https://xboxdevwiki.net/Xbox_Live/Connection_Test

The suggestion from the Cerbios discord currently is revert to 2.0.2R retail -> connect to Insignia -> back to 2.0.3R.

If the other BIOS's have a different LBA48 configuration than what the drive is formatted with you will not see the partitions correctly.  It will look like the data has been lost.  Change back to the working BIOS and they will reappear.

You need to make sure that the other BIOSes support using a parititon table written to the drive using XBPartition v1.3 or XBPartitionTableWriter(or whatever it's actual name is).  Not all old BIOS's support it.

Someone smarter than I needs to verify, but I'm pretty sure this is your issue...
