Which softmod package were you trying to install?

The console was working before the attempt?

I believe it was Unleash X by using Rocky 5 softmodding tool extras disc in a..... well a disc.

and yes it was working until I wanted to know if it's possible to unistall if I ever had a change of mind to keep it in it's stock form?

Are you asking for someone to fix it for you?

    Cheers

Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

Yeah I just came to the realization that I'm just bad at softmodding for OG Xbox and it's a 1.4v so I don't want to lose it. And I can't trust myself anymore, so I'm willing to pay anyone to fix it.

  3. Nothing much i now took out the DVD-R disc and the softmodded Xbox booted fine.

    BUT......

I changed my mind read some forums that Philips doesn't play nice with DVD-R on softmodded Xbox. And it ok now, but new problem is the system now creates a static sound in the dashboard, anyway to get rid of it?

If you are going to fit a mod chip then you don't need to soft mod it 1st.

Although if you can solder a modchip it's less soldering to reflash the bios on a 1.0-1.4 and the 1.2 - 1.4 you don't have to remove the main board as the 2 links are on the top of the board and you can even use a conductive pain to make the 2 links need.

ok but for now I'm going to softmod it for now.

But I can always delete the softmod files to hardmod it at a later time right? (although I have to do this all BEFORE the deciding to hardmod right?)

If you want to solder it in your xbox (which is not needed, the VAP11N works extern as well) , do your self a favor and buy a "propper" soldering iron. Even you didn't solder much you will have way more fun and options. Check amazon or ebay etc. for a TS100 or the Pinecil (~ 40% cheaper ($35 US but almost the same)  which I would recomend if you are in the US.

    • Rosin Core lead solder 60/40 ( I use Stanol) .
    • Some 99% IPA.
    • And some flux

99% IPA and what type of flux?

If you re re-flashing the on board bios you 1sst add the 2 links to the board then flash the new bios file, Once it's re flashed the load a installer disk like the OGXbox installer 2021 and it has a remove soft mod option.

If you fit a mod chip you can load the same disk after fitting it and use it to remove the soft mod files.

I'm not so confident in myself to re-flash I think I'll just stick with hardmodding.

I would spend a little bit more and get this one

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B096JWV3HS/ref=sspa_dk_detail_4?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B096JWV3HS&pd_rd_w

The iron looks a better one and uses the Hakko tip's, it also has a temperature display.

The solder sucker (Desoldering pump)also is better

Other items you should look for are 0.8mm 60/40 solder ( Not lead free), Flux paste

ok I'll put it in my recommendations.

BTW since my console is about to be softmodded, if I ever decide to do this hardmod thing, how can I delete my softmod og Xbox before installing a hardmod?

Here is a tutotial. It's german but you will get the idea.  : https://circuit-board.de/forum/index.php/Thread/18455-XBOX-Classic-WiFi-Mod/

Considering it mentions about soldering, will this do or what do you recommend? (I'm new to soldering)

  9. Wow I didn't realize I needed these to get the Rocky Softmod going?

Splinter Cell (All versions of this game works, including PH)
    MechAssault(If PH, get serial MS02301L)
007: Agent Under Fire (If PH, get serial 1448517)
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4 *New Exploit* (All versions of this game works, including PH)

Do I need all of them? and in physical (as in hand?)

  10. As it says in the title, I'm new to the Xbox modding scene. I'm wondering if I could just take out the hard drive and replace it with a brand new one (plain and simple). Or do I need to do some other stuff before putting a new hard drive. My Xbox is also unmodded (unmodded as in STOCK, no softmod or hardmods done to it.)

And if some soldering needs to be done, then does anybody know what (affordable) soldering equipment do I need? Considering I have ZERO skills in soldering.
