  1. Sorry, I think I found my own answer - is it the same resistor as identified in this thread?
  2. Hi all, I've been working on a FRAGing v1.1 Xbox, and while I was bridging the TSOP point on the bottom of the board, I accidentally de-soldered the tiny resistor just north of R7R3 in this picture: https://www.biline.ca/X-Box/10under.jpg. As always, by the time I realized it was gone, I couldn't find it anywhere, either on my iron or on my workbench. Dumb question please...how critical is that resistor? I know there likely aren't any redundant parts, but should I replace it, and is there a replacement part I could order? Thank you in advance for your help!
  3. Yep, I understand now, thank you. After a bit of nerve-wracking work, I was able to use config magic to transfer the EEprom from the old Xbox to the new one, and everything works again. Bonus, I learned something new! Thank you both!
  4. Thank you so much Rocky5! (For your reply, and all of your amazing work.) I've nulled the key on both, but I'll double-check using configmagic. Thank you again!
  5. Sorry, for clarity, the savegames on the cloned 1 TB drive were corrupted. The contents of the original 500 gig hdd are fine.
  6. Hi all, I have a problem that has me outside my element and completely stymied. Hoping someone has seen this before and could assist. My long-time main Xbox is a 1.2 hardmodded with a clone AladdinXT chip, running EvoX M8+ bios, and a 500 gig hard drive. I recently picked up a 1.4 that was in good shape. I fixed it up and TSOP-modded it, then I got my hands on an OpenXenium chip (it has Xecuter 2, Ind-bios and I added M8+), so I added it to the 1.4. I set X2 as the default launch bios. I wanted to move to the 1.4 as my main box, so I tried to clone my 500 gig hdd to a 1 TB I wanted to put in the 1.4. It appeared to work, but when I tried loading a game, I found that all of my savegames were corrupted. Dead or Alive 2 said the save was corrupted, and Burnout 3 said the save was "unuseable." Everything else except for my savegames, seems to have copied over fine. Did I do something wrong? I'm re-cloning the drive to see if it was just a bad transfer, but I'd definitely appreciate any advice you could offer. Thanks!
  7. Thank you very much SS Dave! I'm literally working to replace the thermal pastes on this console right now. Amazingly, it's also missing all but two of the mobo screws (!?!!?). I'll loop back on this thread if I'm successful. Cheers!
  8. Hi all, I've lurked here for a while now. This is a great forum to get info from. Thank you. Question - I've been working on XBoxes for a while now, and I just got my hands on a 1.0 with a dead Thompson drive and an even deader original Seagate hard drive (showing error 7). Upon opening the case, I realized it had an old modchip on the underside of the board: https://imgur.com/ZGJwShp Does anyone know what modchip this is? I'm mostly curious what that chip is. It's a very clean install and I've never seen one like it. If I tweak the laser pot and get the DVD drive working, will this modchip be able to boot Hexen? I have an Aladdin XT chip and a new laser coming in the mail, but they're a month away. I'm wondering if I can get the drive running just long enough to boot Hexen and install a new hard drive, maybe TSOP the box and then remove this older modchip. Thank you in advance!
