Viggen66
Dear users, I'm about to tsop a 1.4 Xbox PAL, already own a composite cable, however is very well know that Xbox only display HD options on NTSC, after tsop I'm going to upgrade my HDD through latest hexen 2018, but to make HD options available should I install new NTSC HDD or PAL? I read of a app that changes that on the system what is the best solution for a brand new system? Thanks
Forlorn Penguin
Composite cables are shit. They won't allow HD resolutions. You need a component cable for that. Preferably the official Microsoft ones, but those are expensive. All you have to do to change to NTSC is launch the Enigmah-X app and switch it. Once you have switched to NTSC and have plugged in a component cable, you will be able to enable HD resolutions in the video settings. Enable widescreen, 480p and 720p. Do not enable 1080i though. Viggen66
Forlon Pengium.Sorry for my mistake, I was meant to say component not composite, so when making new HDD is better to choose new PAL HDD and afterwards run that app to switch to NTSC, there isn't any advantage or recommendation to make an NTSC HDD in the first place? Forlorn Penguin
I don't recall it asking for console region when formatting a HDD. I don't see why that would change anything regardless. Doesn't matter if you upgrade the HDD before or after. Just launch Enigmah-X at some point to switch video modes. ecstone
If you are doing the hard drive upgrade after you have flashed the TSOP you can try formatting it as NTSC first to see if that does the job for you. If it doesn't work you can reformat the drive as PAL and then run Enigmah-X to switch it afterwards. Once the TSOP is flashed you are always able to boot up a Hexen disc or something to fix any hard drive issues.

Preferably the official Microsoft ones converted the official composite to component output, by moving the stock Video, Audio L, Audio R contacts to RGB, and adding 2 cables for audio. Can't see any distortion, everything looks fine.
