Null after registering to insignia?

Bit of a conundrum. Using Rocky5 Soft Mod I registered my Xbox for Insignia. I did not null my HDD previously, now it says if I do null it it will "stop XBL (Insignia) from functioning until you restore the original HDD key" . I want to null it because I want to swap my harddrive right now to a bigger one, but I also want Insignia to work. Should I risk it? Do I have to null in order to swap harddrives or is there another way?

NO

You should have nulled the hdd before you registered for insignia if you null the Xbox now you will not be unable to get on XBL.

You don't need to null the HDD to swap the hard drive and as long as you have a copy of the eeprom.bin  file you can use FATXplorer 3.0 beta to make a HDD on you PC that will drop in the the Xbox.

A better method in my view is hard mod ( re-flash the onboard bios or mod-chip ) the xbox then you can leave the HDD key untouched and you don't need to lock the drive Then make a new HDD/SSD on your PC and fit that in the unlocked state.

Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

use chimp to clone your current drive to the new bigger one. i have tried this on a softmodded xbox and it works perfectly with an insignia ready xbox. u will keep the same key. put your old hdd in a safe place in case your new drive fails and u need to clone it to another one or u will have to hardmod your xbox in the event of hdd failure. it's actually best not to null your key for several reasons. also use a tool to back up the hdd key so u have 2 ways of rescuing your xbox in case of hdd failure.

Nulling or setting the HDDKey to all 1's is not a requirement to install a larger hard drive.  If you have the eeprom.bin backup for your Xbox, you can build a new locked drive using it.

If you can the HDDKey, your Xbox will no longer work on Insignia.  The key you registered it with must remain.
