Winback 2, Colin Mcrae 3 start in 480i only

Pal 1.6 xbox, switched to NTSC mode using enigma switcher, xecuter 2.6 chip, launching games via Xbmc. Component video cable.

Games ftp'd to the hard drive, files extracted from redump isos. All other games, a mix of PAL and NTSC versions, launch in 480p. But Winback2 and Colin Mcrae 3 will only launch in 480i. Both are NTSC versions.

I'm sure these both should work in 480p. Any ideas what the issue could be? Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks, I didn't know any games on xbox were 480i only, so that explains CMR3 at least.

However I've seen references to the xbox version of "Winback 2 Project Poseidon" and 480p on the internet, so I would have expected that one to work. Is there a way to force a game to start at 480p?

I checked to see if its one of those ones that has problems with v1.6 xboxes and its not on the list. Anyway if it was, I would expect it to start with a garbled screen rather than start in 480i.

I've never heard of this game for the original Xbox - Winback 2: Project Poseidon

Is it a UK PAL game, Japanese NTSC-J or Asian or other market game release?

Edit: I did find it at mobygames.com and on wikipedia's list of Xbox games.  However, it's still a game I had not heard of before.

The back cover art at mobygames.com does not show that it supports any high resolutions either.  The features list mentions HDTV 720p but the box is not marked to indicate that it supports that resolution or any other high-def resolution; therefore, I'm guessing it too only plays at 480i.

P.S. However, booting a force 480p BIOS should allow you to play at 480p.

Thanks for taking a look. I was able to patch Colin Mcrae 3 to 480p using the dvd2xbox patch here: GITHUB

I had seen a old review of Winback2 that referenced 480p support but the reviewer must have been mistaken. The dvd2xbox generic 480p patch didn't work for that one. There's a widescreen patch for the PS2 version so I'll probably go with that instead.
