Duox2 Fujitsu no signal

I have had a duox2 Hyundai edition installed forever ago in a Xbox 1.6 and pulled out the old fella for some burnout revenge to my dismay and four year old son’s disappointment I am receiving no signal when powered on .chip is flashing red ,eject button solid green however cannot open disk draw ,second bank frags red and green on eject button. normal Xbox works fine and appears to have all saved files from burnt/installed games. I am currently checking all connections to mod chip. Does anyone know if this is a bios issue , chip issue or HDD issue . If this is a bios issue does installing a new bios require formatting the drive and same question if I replace mod chip to a modern chip now available as I can’t find any duox2’s for sale.

If you’re capable of the soldering, I’d start off by giving all the connections a good reflow with some fresh solder and flux. I’ve seen several users have a loose or unstable connection after bringing their old ones out from the closet. If no current travels through them for 10-15 years, it doesn’t seem illogical for the joints to become brittle. Wouldn’t hurt replacing the old capacitors either.

If I redo bios does it effect the hdd

You should not need to redo the bios, I would check the soldering as MadMartigan suggested

Resoldered all points no change, red light flashes on chip no picture . Bank 1 has green light on eject button and when pressed flashes green but won’t open disc draw. Bank two frags red and green however disk draw will open . Any ideas.

On a DuoX2 the red led flashing on the mod chip normally means the chip is powered on.

And normally when you press eject the Xbox boots the original BIOS from the mother board and power on with the power button enables the mod chip.

I think Bank 1 is a 1.6 bios and bank 2 is 1.0-1.4 only bios.

It would help if you uploaded some pic's of the LPC solder work.

If you want the  chip always on with a DuoX2 you link the BT on the modchip to 3.3volt (pin9) and then connect the D0 on the main board to ground or the D0 on the mod chip if the Xbox is a 1.0-1.4 , On the 1.6 I cut the lframe trace as apparently grounding the D0 on a 1.6 could cause damage.

It’s a 1.6 , an alternate DO point for 1.6 was going to be my next question but you beat me to it.
I have connected bt as suggested and to be sure about the DO ,I simply cut the trace . No further soldering of DO

That's correct there is no need for the D0 wire from the mod chip.

The more I read this post it's sounding like the bios in bank one is corrupt and could probably be fixed with a re-flash but with out been able to boot a install disk it's going to be a pain.

If you can get you hands on a Xbox that has a modchip or even borrow a modchip  so you can load a install disk you can then hot swap the modchip to re-flash it.

Boot the Xbox with the new chip

Now load a bios flash program like Xblast and get to the point where it asks you to confirm to write the new bios file.

Now without switching off the Xbox you unplug the new modchip and carefully plug the old chip on the pin header.

Now commit to the bios flash.
